At the Iron Man screening(s) I attended the new (and presumably, final) trailer for Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was shown, and I have to admit that I'm finally getting excited about this film. I've said the words, "Yup, it's finished", my first Day of the Dead skull for 2008!oActually this is the test model for more to come and I'm pretty happy with the results. As you can see from this post, the outside of the box changed quite a bit. It had to. The plain white outside with that very pale pink vine and leaf thingy just wasn't cuttin' it. I tried gold metallic on the outside. Nope. I tried a reddish color. Nope. Green. Nope. I settled on the pinkish color with white and dot border accent. It's just what it needed. Plus it needed a little bit around the inside glass edge. It reminds me of papel picado and has the Mexicany look I wanted. 0The very last thing to do with this piece is to name it and that hasn't come to me quite yet, but I know it will. When I least expect it!

I read Joe DeVito's Kong: King of Skull Island back when it came out from Dark Horse a few years ago (I thought it was a comic, not a bad prose novel) so I figured I'd give the comic adaptation a shot. The novel is idiotic fan-fiction, accentuated with DeVito's fine enough paintings… The problem is, Kong: King of Skull Island isn't a sequel to any of the movies, it's a sequel to the original novel, which is either in the public domain or DeVito could license cheap. I can't remember, but I think that original novel was just a bit of pre-theatrical advertising back in "33. But whatever. The question is whether or not a bad novel can be a good comic book… And, honestly, I don't know.
