This second-generation Superb is based on a mildly-lengthened VW Passat platform, with transverse rather than longitudinal engines as before. Green-ness in the European auto market has become quite the trendy thing, as evidenced by the frenzy of alt-fuel/economy/clean-tech debuts littering the IAA floor. It's to be expected, given the regulatory noises coming from Euro government officials. VW-owned Czech automaker Škoda has gotten into the act this year, offering up a "GreenLine" version of its new Fabia compact. (Somewhere in the RenCen, Saturn officials must be grumbling about Škoda's name selection for its eco-roster.)The GreenLine cars feature engines that focus on fuel economy and low emissions. As such, the Fabia GreenLine and Fabia Combi GreenLine (shown above) are powered by a 1.4L TDI with a diesel particulate filter that delivers 79 horsepower and emits less than 110 g/km of CO2. Another GreenLine car that will go on sale in biofuel-friendly Sweden later this year is the Octavia Combi Greenline, which is driven by a 100-horse 1.6L E85-compatible engine. Come accade ormai ogni anno, anche per il 2007 si rinnova l’appuntamento con le classifiche “JD Power”. La ricerca automobilistica più attesa, realizzata negli Stati Uniti, sulla base di un sondaggio effettuato nel Regno Unito, che in passato ha quasi sempre premiato i risultati ottenuti dai marchi giapponesi, ma lasciando sempre il giusto spazio ai colpi di scena.
Anche per il 2007 (il settimo anno consecutivo), il gruppo Toyota mantiene saldamente lo scettro della classifiche stilate in base alla “Customer Satisfaction” (soddisfazione del cliente). Have you seen the new Skoda advert? The one where dozens of bakers create a Skoda Fabia cake, well it has reported cost £500,000 to make, but what does it really take to create the cake?
To start there’s 180 eggs, 100kg of flour, 100kg of caster sugar, a massive vat of chocolate sauce, 65kg of dried fruit, and 30kg of almonds; that’s the bodywork taken care of. Next comes the foundation, the car’s chassis, for which the bakers make 448 Madeira bricks which are layered with butter cream, while others work on creating the engine. 300g of golden syrup are poured into the newly created engine, with liquorice use to create the fan belt as they expertly create every engine part.
For the fondant Fabia’s paintwork use fondant icing with 180kg of orange sugar paste to colour then mould round the cake car panels. Next create windows from fondant icing and 90g of brown sugar paste.
The interior is made from Battenburg cakes stuck together by using 12.5kg of jam; add l
