One of the major problems with youth today is that they think you can't skate anywhere. It's not a problem for me to skateboard at work, on the sidewalk, in the warehouse, or even in a parking lot. I take skateboarding wherever I go. NO, I'm not sponsored, and NO, I'm not a professional, but I agree whole heartedly with what Mike V. says in this video below: "You can skateboard anywhere!" I grew up without a nearby skateboard park, and I grew up with little opportunities to travel to skateboard parks that were near Tony Hawk's house, or up north far away. So I just learned tricks in my front yard, and eventually I got the hang of it.I never learned vert. But in the streets, I can hold my own.

Being into design and awesome artwork I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this article on Siliconera. Several artists from Next Level Games(responsible for the Mario Football games) have decided to celebrate their 5th Anniversary by hand painting several skateboard decks and auctioning them off to charity. Its all part of a silent auction for the BC Children’s hospital foundation. So far the price ranges from $50-100 Canadian dollars. Part skateboard. Part Segway. Looks like a ton of fun. Chris Coleman was inpired by someone else’s design, built his own version and is sharing his parts list and code for others to improve upon. This is one of the greatest demonstrations of the idea behind Creative Commons although it isn’t labeled as such. It doesn’t move that fast and is a bit heavy (35 lbs), but it is a start. Well, here’s another one for the books - here’s a one wheeled skateboard that uses some kind of voodoo magic to work. I’m pretty sure that he says chickens were sacrificed but you can read his page for the exact incantations and dances you need to do to imbue this device with the correct spirits. He has provided these instructions gratis to the world. This stuff is great, it one ups the Magic Wheel, IMO, and the next step will be to get it so that the deck is fully above the wheel and you can work it more like a regular skateboard. Sweet. i built this quarter pipe a few months ago. i skated it once or twice and then put it in my garage and its been sitting there ever since. it is 4 feet wide and 27 inches tall. the deck on top is 23 inches by 4 feet.it was built for skating, but bikes, roller blades, scooters, whatever can be used on it.it comes with wheels for easy transportation and there are 2 layers of 1/4 inch ply on the transition. the deck and sides are made of 1/2 inch particle wood which is stronger and more water resistant than plywood. the coping is held to the wood using liquid nails, so it will never come loose. it was nail gunned and then drilled together so it is built to last.

This is a Powerboard 2 by Exkate. It is a lower model, so it's top speed is about 10-12 mph. I would recommend this to a kid or a beginning level skateboarder. It has been test driven, but that's about it, it is still like new. Comes with the wireless remote and the charger.
