I've always had a love & hate relationship with the Nike brand. I never really concerned myself with the Nike movement after 4th grade. There will be a huge kid festival this weekend in Benton - including the Skate Jam Skateboarding competition. The event is Saturday April 26th, from 10:00 am to 5 pm at Tyndall Park in Benton, Arkansas. There is a $5 donation fee to compete in the skateboard competition which will benefit C.A.S.A. Last week, we went to see our friend Jo Jo show off her sushi-making skills at the newly opened Sushi Station in La Jolla (San Diego). While we were mesmerized by her rolls, what caught our eye were the Tokidoki skate decks that were hanging on the restaurant walls. Tokidoki is a brand established by Italian artist Simone Legno who fell in love with Japan and has been creating a whole line of products with the a uniquely Japanese manga style. Think edgy Hello Kitty. On his website, tokidoki.it, you can purchase a variety of items from clothes, pins, posters, and the aforementioned skate boards. Our favorite is this "baby killer" skate deck that you can buy for $75. We'll definitely be buying a few to hang in our office.

While skateboarding in Los Angeles, it was rare for me to leave Culver City and Santa Monica. While many people find that to be a great place for skateboarding, I found it hard to stay in one place, as cops and security were always chasing us out and causing us stress and havoc. DC Shoes has been gaining a lot of exposure thanks to Rob & Big, but that's not to say that Dyrdek was the reason for an all Dc Skate store in Los Angeles.
