Whiskey In My Sippy Cup is a Cool Spot
I'll admit that there are very few mom blogs that I can identify with on a regular basis. I appreciate them, and I have mentioned a few of them here before, such as Soapbox Mom or A Week In The Life of A Redhead.Yesterday, I was scanning through the most recent posts at Dads.Alltop.com, and I saw one from BusyDad that I wanted to read. It was an entertaining post as usual, but he also included a link at the bottom to "the baddest mommy blogger in the land, Mr. Lady of Whiskey In My Sippy Cup." How could I resist clicking on this link? I couldn't, and I'm glad I didn't.BusyDad was right - Mr. Lady is one of a kind. Her most recent post called Makin' Babies is hilarious. She is genuine, authentic and honest about her experiences, and I really appreciate her sense of humor. I don't kno

      Sippy Cup & Tantrums
We are having some “issues” with Eli lately. Things like him refusing to adjust to drinking out of a real cup, to him throwing tempertantrums at school. On the first issue Jodi is more concerned than I am, that is until today when I gave him a cup of water and he flat out refused to even consider drinking from it. He demanded a sippy cup. I eventually caved in because I wanted him to drink. He does great with box drinks with straws and pouch drinks but we really need some advice on how to get him to drink from a regular cup. If you have suggestions, please post them. As for the tempertantrums it is hard for to think of a solution because I am not sure I ever see him really throwing them. I will have to ask his teachers at school to find out what the scenario is so I can work on the issue. Other than that, I am still sick with the crud moving from my head to my chest and lodging badly there. I hope I survive. I need to continue my p90x workouts but don’t have the ener

      Sippy Cup
"What smells?" April asked. She looked around the living room, putting her nose in a water glass, a pair of tennis shoes, and a vase of wilted flowers, searching for the culprit. Then, she stopped to look at the sippy cup she was holding in her hand. Alleke grabbed April's pant leg, pulled herself into a standing position, and reached for the sippy cup. "Hold on, sweetie," April said. She unscrewed the lid and smelled inside, then pulled away."Oh, that's...bad," she said, grimacing. She looked at me. "I can't believe she's been drinking this." April handed me the cup. I hesitated, then lifted the cup up to my nose. It wreaked, strong like ammonia, and pungent like body odor.Alleke scooted across the floor and pulled herself up next to me on the couch. She reached for the cup again. I frowned. "You can't have this," I said.Or at least what was left of it. The cup was almost empty. The water at the bottom looked clear and clean, but when I imagined Alleke drinking it, it w

From bottle to Sippy Cup - Baby Drinking
This topic bottle to the sippy cup is not an obscure one but I have tried to compile some fundamental points about this topic in this post. There is so much lack of time for all of us that I cannot waste our time reading everything. We would have to select our readings and that is why you should read this post about bottle to the sippy cup which would help you get valuable insight into bottle to the sippy cup. Now, when you are reading this post, you must have realized that not everything is provided by your run of the mill posts published on the net. Most children, by the time they are about 9 months old, have the motor skills needed to drink from a cup. If you think your baby’s ready to make the move from bottle to sippy cup, try filling a sippy cup with water and let your child try and drink from it. Don’t expect perfection with the first tries. He’ll probably drool, spit and dribble a bit, which will probably delight him! But within a few weeks and lots of practi

Sippy Cup Spill Sparks Tiff at National Airport
TSA Uses Web to Counter Mother's Allegation of Improper DetentionFederal security officials took the unusual step yesterday of posting an incident report and security camera footage on their Web site to counter allegations that screeners and police officers at Reagan National Airport mistreated a mother and her toddler last week. At issue is whether Monica Emmerson, a former Secret Service officer and District resident, was improperly detained when she spilled water out of her child's sippy cup.Emmerson's story: As she was going through security, a screener with the Transportation Security Administration asked if there was water in her 19-month-old son's sippy cup. For nearly a year, TSA has banned most fluids and gels from carry-on luggage because it is concerned about liquid explosives. The screener then seized the cup, Adler related, causing Emmerson's son to wail. Emmerson was told that if she wanted to keep the cup, she should leave the security checkpoint, dump out the water

Step AWAY from the Sippy Cup!
I know that I'm going to admit that I'm not perfect. Is the sky gonna open up and is lightning going to strike me down? Probably.I was emptying the dishwasher this morning (and fielding the ever popular "Can I have a drink, mom?") when I noticed that I only had a couple of sippy cups clean. Hm. I was afraid. I knew right then that I needed to call in the troops and send out special forces to find these items, although I had a sneaky suspicion that what I would find would be... let's say... gross. Nuclear. Now I don't clean under my couches every day. OH THE HORROR! I do get to vacuuming every week, and I do pick up the toys in the family room (where they live most of the time) every day, but alas, I do ignore the couch trenches at times. Frankly, the dust bunnies are armed and scare the grannypants off of me.And HOW many sippy cups did I find under the big couch in the family room, you ask? Um... SWEETPEA? Can I just tell how lucky you are that 3 out of the 4 cups had j

TSA Hassles a Woman over Sippy Cup.
With the constant change in our nations air travel guidelines and restrictions, I am sure many of us have been to the highly informative site, www.TSA.gov. My parents flew in for a visit this weekend and they wanted to be clear on what they could and could not bring as a carryon. While on the site, I came across their Mythbuster page. According to the site, a woman was hassled at security over a sippy cup. This happens quite frequently at airports nationwide, maybe not over sippy cups specifically, but over what can and can not be brought on a plane. The woman made a little bit of a fuss last week in the news and in an attempt to fight back the TSA posted the video of the incident on their site, but also went the extra step to post the video on Youtube and allowing comments. I find this very cutting edge on the part of the TSA and applaud them for this proactive approach, it is important to remember that Big Brother is watching and that is only a matter of time before the

Jenny McCarthy's Son Still Uses A Sippy Cup!
Hey! I have the same sippy cup as Jenny McCarthy’s son!! Cool! But wait! He’s four years old! Isn’t he a little too old for a sippy cup? I hope my parents get rid of mine when I’m old enough. I wouldn’t want to be caught dead drinking from a sippy cup when I’m four! [Link]
