Simplicity Isn’t Always A Happy Face & Clean Aprons
I read quite a few blogs in the course of a week, some daily, some less frequent, but one thing I’ve noticed about a lot of the simplicity blogs is that the general picture that’s given is one where the woman is happy pottering about her home and garden, cleaning and cooking and growing her veggies. Yesterday when I was at Phillip’s place, he was in a very jovial mood. It was one of those days when he’s not in a mood to teach us the guitar. He was reminiscing about the good old days when love did not have so many profanities attached to it. He was talking how scandals, flings, affairs and everything in between are being passed off as ‘love’. He is not averse to the idea of falling in love, rather he is all for it. He just wants people to be more honest about their feelings.I was thinking about what he said on my way back to the apartment. The apartment was empty. Andrea, my roommate, must have gone out with her boyfriend. That reminded me of Phillip’s words again. Are they really in love or are they just checking out their compatibility quotient? It is a very critical questi

      Simplicity Makes Sales
It is hard to imagine sales skyrocketing only because something is simple, stripped down and easy to use. As companies are looking to push the limits of technology and users are grasping to understand the technology provided to them somewhere in the middle frustration sets in. Just as you learn to learn a new cell phone, computer or camcorder some new innovation sets in and you have to start over. Amazingly a near child’s camcorder toy called the Flip has cornered 13% of the camcorder market only because it is simple. To operate you simply turn on the camcorder and press the button. There is no zoom, no red eye, nothing special at all. For a grand total of around $180 dollars a person can take simple camcorder shots of up to 60 minutes and down load them on the computer. Why Does Simplici

      Simplicity in Web Design
Most of the business web sites have a white background, plain text and a classic standard design. The graphics perfectly match the written content, and there is no need for mismatching and misleading elements. A simple web design is much more beneficial for the clients as well as for the web site owners. It takes much less time while downloading and runs at a faster speed than the complicated web sites. Such web sites are much more interactive and able to give quicker responses. A web site with a simple design takes less time in building and if it needs to be re-built, it can be done in not much time. In addition to that, a web site with a simple web design will consume less bandwidth and server disk space, thus saving both time and money. The eCreeds® Web Solution Team eCreeds® We

The Principles of War, continued (Simplicity)
One of the characteristics that distinguish real Generals from voyeuristic wannabes is the former’s commitment to their profession. Real Generals absorb everything and anything they can find about their job, their mission, and their operations. They literally live their job. A General must know as much as possible in order to develop uncomplicated plans, because the result of misunderstanding

      The Simplicity Of Snow
I was intrigued by fellow blogger Mark Graf's recent post about how snow tends to simplify scenes that would otherwise be quite disorganized and distracting; morphing a scene that would be difficult to photograph into something that looks much more appealing in a two dimensional image. Have a look at that interesting post if you haven't had a chance to read it.After reading Mark's post, I found myself wondering if I could use snow to simplify an image even further....right down to bare graphic shapes. I would obviously have to look for very specific, uncluttered, and focal scenes (by which I mean picking out a small area of landscape that had very basic graphical qualities). As I have mentioned many times before, I am not very much of a cold weather person, but I thought this would motivate

Simplicity With Fountains In Garden Design
Simplicity has always been the basis of good design, and adding a garden fountain is no exception. Besides, good garden design is nearly as easy as it is simple! It’s when you complicate things that issues arise. You have only a few things to worry with when planning to add a garden fountain to landscape your home. They are: 1) A source of electricity 2) The placement area; and 3) How to create a harmonious landscape around your new water feature. Creative solving of these basic problems will beautify your home and greatly improve its beauty and value. Penciled plans are simple to prepare, easy to repair and worth their weight in gold when it's time to install new the new planters, statuary, and green material around your water fountain. The first things you need are several large sheets

      The Hard Art of Simplicity
Photography is about simplicity. Keep it simple and you get your message across. But how often do we get a simple picture? And what is a simple picture? From what the masters say, the image should be uncluttered, clean with all other elements and background not competing with your main subject. Easier said than done! And it takes a lot of practice to get that oh so simple image! Come to think of it, I am still honing myself. I don't even know if the photo above I took in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato would pass the art of simplicity. Ah well, pursuing this passion for photography requires learning from experience, knowledge from experts, and having a discerning eye.

      Appearance: Luxury and Simplicity
Photo (Simplicity) originally uploaded by •Laurie•Luxury and SimplicityTHE Sufi ancient Junaid taught by demonstration, through a method in which he actually lived the part which he was trying to illustrate. This is an example:Once he was found by a number of Seekers, sitting surrounded by every imaginable luxury. These people left his presence and sought the house of a most austere and ascetic holy man, whose surroundings were so plain that he had nothing but a mat and a jug of water. The spokesman of the Seekers said:'Your simple manners and austere environment are much more to our liking than the garish and shocking excesses of Junaid, who seems to have turned his back upon the Path of Truth.'The ascetic heaved a great sigh and started to weep'My dear friends, shallowly infected by th

      Simplicity and the Trading Brain
Whether they are making or losing money in the market, traders know that trading is first and last a mental game. When your system makes you money, can you stay out of its way so that it can continue to do so? And when your system inevitably suffers drawdowns, can you remain on the sidelines and not act like a belligerent parent at a Little League baseball game?Richard Dennis, who co-founded the legendary Turtle Trading System with William Eckhardt, once remarked that he believed that he could publish the entire then-secret Turtle Trading methodology in the newspaper and it wouldn't make a difference. Why? Because most people cannot follow the rules. And this was not because the rules were especially complex. It was because human beings are especially -- and perhaps in some ways, unnecessarily -- complex. We see the same thing when it comes to other challenges people have, whether it is in dieting and weight loss or quitting smoking. At this point in time, there are few people who do no

      Simplicity The Challenge
`The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.’ Hans Hofmann Simplicity is something that is a challenge. I know the times when my creativity has been clouded and difficult to access have been when I have moved away from simplicity in my life. One of my greatest joys was when I moved from Sydney to The Gold Coast. I was offered a teaching job on The Coast if I could be available in two weeks. I had just returned from The Coast, it was winter and walking on the beach in winter had opened my heart to a new way of living. I said yes, put my place on the market, sold or gave away all I could, put the rest in my car and headed North. What a freedom I felt, everything I needed was in that car, at that moment I was not hindered by possessions or place. The world soon crowded in again, but it left a sense of something I have aspired to since, a place where I was beyond the need for those securities and in which I could access creativity with

      Simplicity
`Just living is not enough said the Butterfly, one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.’ Hans Christian Anderson. The Butterfly knew something most of us do not. We don’t need a lot to be happy. We have a greater flow of `The Creative Spirit’ in our lives with simplicity. Look around you and think of the energy and time spent in collecting and caring for possessions. How much is what you truely need and how much is what you think you should have. We don’t need a lot to create with power and strength. What we need is a state of mind, a state of spirit. Society is clogged down with `objects’ that need to be paid for and cared for, but there is a line between need and greed and when that line is blurred `The Creative Spirit’ in our work and lives is quickly impeded. Our lives all too easily become blocked by objects and the freedom and joy that nourishes creativity is lost. I know it is not easy to keep things simple, but for discovering the power that is in `The

      Time Machine's Simplicity Compels You
If you're running Leopard and you've got an external hard drive, you will back up your data, even if that wasn't your intention when you bought the drive or plugged it into your Mac. That's because Leopard's system snapshot mechanism, Time Machine, is dead simple to enable—and Leopard prompts you to turn it on the moment you plug in your FireWire drive. You'll think, "why not?" and why not indeed

      The Simplicity of Great Marketing
Great marketing is simple (but not easy). It communicates obvious value to a customer. It should be a no-brainer. It’s even easier when the product or service does its own marketing. Breath mints for construction workers and automotive maintenance engineers is not obvious. Until now. Wrench Mints changes that. “When your breath is broke… Fix it!” The cap slides off using a pretty cool packaging technique. Suddenly it’s cool for tough guys to have fresh breath. And the stars are noticing. By happen stance, I met Wrench Mints Founder Eddie Rubin in Southern California the weekend preceding CEA. He showed me these mints, and as a marketer I could not help but feel inspired by the clever, yet simple value proposition Wrench Mints offers. It’s just a reminder to me that even though we live in a new world of “advanced marketing,” nothing works like a simple, unique message that delivers epiphanies whenever someone sees it. His cufflinks not only firm to cuff, they glean a touch of elegance and frame perfectly an object of expression. This lovely display of style and engineering will harmonise with any outfit, formal or casual, here an important function inherent in Simon’s philosophy of simplicity, a cufflink for all occasions.

My Utmost For His Highest; Simplicity in Christ *
"The simplicity that is in Christ" 2 Corinthians 11:13Simplicity is the secret of seeing things clearly. A saint does not think clearly for a long while, but a saint ought to see clearly without any difficulty. You cannot think a spiritual muddle clear, you have to obey it clear. In intellectual matters you can think things out, but in spiritual matters you will think yourself into cotton wool. If there is something upon which God has put Hie pressure, obey in that matter, bring your imagination into captivity to the obedience of Christ with regard to it and everything will become as clear as daylight. The reasoning capacity comes afterwards, but w never see along that line, we see like children; when we try to be wise, we see nothing (Matthew 11:25).The tiniest thing we allow in our lives that is not under the control of the Holy Spirit is quite sufficient to account for spiritual muddle, and all the thinking we like to spend on it will never make it clear.
