Let's pave the path for the cool Motorola Sidekick Slide and make sure it's a red carpet entry this time. There's nothing added in the functionality of the new one but it's all about the new color. If purple wasn't your color, then the fire red shape will make a good show in your hand. I somehow like the new look with all the fiery red flames surrounding the limp black buttons. Let's hope that the new one leaves no room for complaint for those who whined about mysterious turning on and off of the phone every time it was opened or closed. This one should show up sometime in early June. There is room for improvement in everyone and everything we see around us. But in case of Motorola's cool products, it's the customer's style preference that counts. Thankfully!

T-Mobile today unveiled the Sidekick Slide, a messaging device with a new slide open mechanism, rather than the conventional swivel. Designed by Motorola rather than Sharp, the Sidekick Slide will be available later this fall. With a new look and feel for the Sidekick family, the Sidekick Slide debuts a smaller design featuring a slide up QVGA screen, a compact QWERTY keyboard, full Sidekick messaging technology, and a black finish with deep purple accents. Featuring a vivid 2.5-inch QVGA screen, the Sidekick Slide also offers an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera, music player, microSD card slot support of 4 GB cards, Bluetooth wireless technology, and data transfer over T-Mobile's EDGE network. I have always had a soft spot for the Sidekick, partly because it dared to be different (not least by being so damn ugly), but also because I have a lot of time for T-mobile.
For those of you that follow this sort of thing, the fact that Sharp’s internal designation is PV250 and puts it above the PV200 of the Sidekick 3, would tend to indicate that this is a full blown Sidekick 4, rather than some stepping stone release in attempt to grab some extra $’s of people. Additional information for those interested in this type of speculation: with no 3G network it is doubtful that the SK4 will have 3G services, it should have a 3″ Screen, but apart from that not a lot to get excited about really - unless you have a ‘thing’ about the number 4.

Sharp’s recently introduced SideKick PV-250 has got green signal from FCC. This upcoming Sidekick 4 messaging phone has been codenamed Shuriken.
The device comes with a superior 3-inch widescreen, an out fashioned 1.3-megapixel camera and a microSD card slot. As T-Mobile has already purchased the SideKick LX domain name, so do not get confused, the shuriken is also known as SideKick LX.
The SideKick 4 is expected to be announced officially in Q4 this year.

It appears they are attempting to compete in shininess against the jesus phone, but if they are, silly Danger. Giz just got tipped off with these pics and tidbits of information about The Zante, or Motorola Q900, which will most likely come out in October with no new features that are really new or revolutionary.
The Zante will feature full multimedia playback support, Java, game controllers and everyones favorite un-customizable Danger OS. The Zante includes only 128MB of internal Flash RAM but with its expansion slot just can handle MiniSD cards up to 2GB. Also Motorola and T-Mobile’s goal is 5.9 hours of talk time and a $269 average selling price tag, which in my opinion is rather expensive for a mid-tier Sidekick, you might as well wait until the sidekick 4 drops if your planning on paying that much. However if you have only been exposed to windows this is will be a pleasant surprise to an extent. The fact is the vista sidebar was designed with new displays in mind. This means if you have the traditional CRT monitor display or first generation LCD screens, these are probably not widescreen. Having a widescreen monitor is truly Microsoft’s intent for you use and enjoy properly the sidebar.
Lets face it a traditional monitor display has limited space to display your programs and so on, the last thing you want is a think sidebar taking up a chunk. In my Tip #4 I show you how to disable the sidebar from running, even after reboot. [Watch the video]
