G.I. Joe Time Again! Sideshow’s Tease and a New Vehicle
It’s been awhile since I had any G.I. Joe updates, but there really hasn’t been anything too exciting to talk about. That has changed slightly since Sideshow has released a tasty teaser for their upcoming line of 12 inch Joe figures: In case you missed it, Hasbro announced a while back that they were making a [...]

      Richard Warman's Censorship Sideshow
Richard Warman: His best side. That self-serving legal maladroit Richard Warman is making waves again with his so-called Maximum Disruption Campaign. The latest has the anti-rightwing, anti-conservative, anti-freedom of speech legal beagle launching an all-out attack against a number of conservative writers and internet forums. It’s no secret that Warman is only interested in getting his ugly mug in front of the cameras and that his intentions have nothing to do with erasing websites whose content or subject matter fall into his definition of ‘hate’. This employee of Canada’s Department of National Defense (feel safer now?) and long-time lackey of the Canadian Human Rights Commission has a rap sheet full of attempts at imposing censorship. Here's a response from one of the targets nam

      Sideshow's Life Size Cylon
I don’t do a lot of coverage of expensive ass collectibles simply based on the fact that I can’t afford to buy any toy that costs more than a McDonald’s value meal. This however, is simply too cool to ignore. Sideshow announced that it will have a life sized Cylon from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. There’s no word on release date, availability. or cost yet, but you’ve got to expect low quantities and one hell of a price tag. Two things: 1. This should have been the much shinier and cooler looking original Cylon Centurion. 2. The eye visor better have the red light that moves back and forth or else it’s completely worthless. It is nice to see that Battlestar Galactica has generated enough of a following that warrants making such an expensive collectible. I’d never have imagined anything remotely high class coming from Battlestar Galactica before the re-imagined series hit the air.

Windows Vista SideShow coming to Windows Mobile?
One of the coolest underutilized features of Windows Vista is SideShow. Essentially, SideShow lets you access certain Vista feature from a secondary display. For example, check your email or calendar on your laptop without actually opening your lid. Or better yet, schedule a recording in Windows Media Center using a touch panel on the front of your PC case. But very few hardware makers have really taken advantage of SideShow. We don't see it in many media center remote controls, which is where it would really come in handy for a PVR nut.But the::unwired suggests that we could be seeing a whole lot more SideShow action soon if Microsoft develops a SideShow application for Windows Mobile. Suddenly your phone or PDA could turn into an awesome remote control for your Windows Media Center. You'd be able to play music, schedule recordings, or perform other basic actions without turning your TV on.There've been inklings that Microsoft was going to launch a Windows Mobile version of SideShow

      Haiku, sideshow, etc.
I found notes from the other day. Here is an overheard in haiku form: dynamic now jeff wears the pants I so used to wear the pants but now he wears them Also, tonight was the “Cliffhanger” Secret Sideshow — great guests and a really good time. I don’t know if we’ll do it again. I’d love to, but schedules are getting crazy. At least I feel like this was a solid closer, if it has to be that way. Thanks to all who contributed: Wes Mallgren, Max Silvestri, Mike Purwin, Sean O’Connor, Vanessa Rohrer, Bob Walles, Reid Levin, Ballard C. Boyd and Emily Nemens. Your essays, voice talents, sketches, ukulele and cupcakes were delightful. Tonight’s sneaky music thought: Lately, I can’t get enough of Andrew W.K. I love these phases. One song snuck its way into a video project that I hope I get to show off to you folks soon.

      SONA Sideshow
Before anything else, I am greeting my friend Dada. He is turning twenty today. You can find him at Cogency of Absurdity. For some time now the State of the Nation Address (SONA) has occupied a prominent place in the attention of the blogosphere netizens. So far, most of the posts I’ve read fall into two categories: either they think the SONA is a farce or it’s lacking in some way or another. Manuel Quezon III, one of my favorite columnists, cites several of such commentaries in his blog. Post-SONA hangover 2007 edition shares his insightful take on the recent SONA while the Pork Barrel Republic: SONA coverage provides a witty and off-beat transcript of last Monday’s proceedings inside the Batasan. His coverage proved very useful as a chronological account of the events in the House. I had very important classes and was thus cut off from monitoring developments the whole day. (more…)

      Microsoft SideShow To Cost $80
Prices for PDA-style Windows SideShow devices will start from about $80, according to a developer that demonstrated prototypes to Texyt.com yesterday. The touchscreen handheld gadgets share many of the features of PDAs, smartphones, and media players like Apple's iPod, but they connect wirelessly to a PC to send or receive data. A high-end SideShow device with a slide-out Qwerty keyboard will cost 'approximately $150', said staff of Taiwan-based chip manufacturer, Winbond, which makes CPUs and other chips for the devices. A smaller device with a square 3.5-inch touch screen will cost 'about $80', they predicted. Bluetooth to connect to outside world: The SideShow handhelds connect to a host Windows Vista PC via Bluetooth to synchronize email, contacts, appointments, RSS feeds, documents and other data, said Winbond senior sales manager, David Sung. They can download and play music, games, and media files. Prototype developer: While Winbond did not identify the prototypes, which
