Pe site-ul dedicat acestei zile se află un sondaj în care 13.206 de persoane au răspuns că se pot lasa de calculator pentru o zi, pe când doar 1.145 au răspuns că nu se pot desprinde de calculator pentru 24 de ore.Anul trecut doar 65.000 de persoane au participat la aceasta campanie.

E’ difficile immaginare oggi una vita senza computer, vero? Noi geeks utilizziamo il computer per fare molte cose ogni giorno, e moltissimi hanno il computer accesso sette giorni su sette, infischiandosene della bolletta. Ma cosa succederebbe se il vostro pc non funzionasse per un giorno intero? Potremo vivere 24 ore senza questo?

Interesante la iniciativa de Shutdown Day, que es una organización no-profit su única misión es de mantener apagado el ordenador por un día entero que éste año será el 3 de Mayo, con la intención de hacer reflexionar a todos sobre el peligro que pueden provocar dispositivos como el pc, tv, celulares etc..Este evento ha sido organizado a favor del ser humano y no contra la tecnología, así que preparémonos para pasar un día entero sin blogging, emails, etc.. si es que queremos apoyarlos, visitando el sitio web de la campaña podremos ver un vídeo de Youtube el cual presenta la iniciativa.Link| Shutdown Day

I have to admit that I'm curious to see what happens. Tomorrow is Shutdown Day, the 0 hour for one of "the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet." While I had originally been planning on taking part in tomorrow's experiment it probably won't be happening for me. I'll be working this weekend - can't work without a computer.
If I weren't working this weekend I'd gladly take part - it's about time for a trip to New York / New Jersey.
I am curious, though, how many folks will be taking part. Anyone out there planning on NOT turning on their PCs tomorrow?

There will be about 54491 who agreed to participate and shutdown there PC for a day and 8689 thinks that they cannot live without it. Hard time huh?
Now I’ll be participating in it so I’ll not be using my PC and so no post tomorrow but I have a draft saved which I thought to publish today but seems I’ve to do it on 25th March. but this doesnot means you can’t chat with me! I have installed BluePulse on my cellphone and so I will be online using that via GPRS so you can catch me on IMs, again my IM details are here.
So what about you? If you have made your mind to do so then go and register your self at www.ShutDownDay.org ! And don’t forget to tell me about it and if you are not joining then join me via IM.

Es obvio que la gente encontraría la vida extremadamente difícil sin las computadoras, igual o quizá imposible. ¿Si desaparecieran por solo un dia, podríamos hacer frente?
Se una parte de uno de los experimentos globales más grandes a ocurrir en el Internet. ¡La idea detrás del experimento es descubrir cuánta gente puede ir sin una computadora por una jornada completa, y qué sucederá si todos participamos!

There is no denying we are dependent on technology. One would argue we are certified addicts. In some ways we could argue our computers are simply tools, much like a pencil, and no one would say you have a pencil addiction (maybe a G2 pen addiction or something). But our addiction to computers at times engages us in a number of negative activities and uses of our time.
I am computer dependent. I know I’ve mentioned this before on the blog and I’ve mentioned things I’m trying to do to be more intentional with my time and how I use computers. For example, now I write/ready most of my posts for this blog on the weekend. I have my wife put a password on my computer and then I have to tell her what I’m doing and how much time it will take before she unlocks it for me. This really helps me be more intentional with how I spend my time, rather then taking on new projects at the spur of the moment (or at 10pm at night). I try and limit the amount of times I check my em
