NEW YORK (AP) — Seriously. The “American Idol” showdown between David Cook and David Archuleta was about as much of a surprise as sugarcoated criticism and seal claps from Paula Abdul.

A good friend invited me and our oldest son to his men's ministry campout. At first I was a little leery because I really don't like intruding on someone else's get-together and I also hate meeting new people. I don't relate well at first and usually stay to myself.
But Julie encouraged me to go because I really needed a good quality Christian experience for just men. She's had Women of Faith and Joyfest for that recharge of camaraderie. But Promise Keepers hasn't had very many conferences the last few years (the closest has been around 700 miles away), and it's difficult to find a good source for just men. Getting men to do anything together is a chore, let alone for ministry. I discovered I really needed time to connect with God away from my usual life and to reconnect with other men on

2008: Game of the Year Showdown Inserito originariamente da Abriael After the release of Grand Theft Auto IV it's clear to pretty much everyone and his mother that it's probably the number one contender to become the Game of the Year. Despite a few bugs (including a pretty serious freeze issue on xbox 360 and 60 gb PS3), the open ended gameplay and the incredible level of detail in which Liberty City is built on our TVs, alongside the hype that accompained the game up to it's release and beyond, Grand Theft Auto IV scored big time, and conquered a rock solid place in the history of videogaming. This said, who can threaten GTA4's victory? Unfortunately for Nintendo, I really doubt any of their games for this year (even while selling in abundant six digit figures) has really the juic

As a result, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the DNA and other evidence were strong enough that a jury would not have convicted House -a determination also reached by lower courts in the appellate process. This article observes "many people thought the state would issue some type of clemency to [House], or even pardon him. But no, the state kept fighting to keep him in prison." Why? The article suggests Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) is demonstrating that it is not "easy for some people to admit that they're wrong." There was a spectacular finish in Iowa. It was a showdown!! Yes, the decision- makers were in shouting distance, and now we hear them loud and clear. And the winners are .... Obama on left and Huckabee on the right. In Iowa, retail politics has changed the dynamics of the race for president, and so much so, that Senator Clinton, once the undisputed front-runner among Democrats, came in last. Mitt Romney, the man with the millions, after spending a whole lot of $$$ also slipped to second place. There were few upsets across European leagues today as fans turned their sights to two massive Premiership showdowns and the final of the FIFA Club World Cup to be played Sunday. Okay, so maybe the Club World Cup has not received quite the same level of attention, especially in the U.K. Point is, there were not many upsets in today's games. One surprise did come from Portugal's bwinLIGA where Benfica lost only their second game of the year. Cross-town rivals Belenensus did the honors this time as Freddy Adu was not brought on soon enough to work his magic. I can understand Jose Camacho not wanting to play Freddy from the start due to match fitness concerns or whatever, but he really should be subbing him in sooner, especially if Benfica are down a goal. Today, Freddy was the team's third substitute.I wouldn't call this an upset, but Juventus scored an impressive away win at Lazio today on a brace by Alessandro del Piero. I say it wasn't an upset because Lazio look very much like a

Thursday night’s National Football League showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys is expected to be one of the best of the season. It will be a treat for the few pigskin fans who will be able to view it. For most everyone else, it will serve as a window into the power struggles within the media business.
The highly anticipated contest marks the first time in 17 years and only the second time in nearly four decades that two teams, each with 10-1 records, have faced off. But instead of a ratings bonanza, the game has become hostage in the ongoing battle between the NFL and some of the nation’s biggest cable operators.
The reason is the league’s own channel, the NFL Network, has exclusive broadcast rights for the game but is not available in roughly two-thirds of the households in the country. Other than satellite subscribers, some cable subscribers or those who purchased premium sports packages, most fans won’t be seeing this matchup from home.
The latest book that I’ve read/listened is Showdown by Ted Dekker.
