As key mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac face financial crisis combined with continued problems in the brokerage sector, the SEC has restricted short selling in these distressed areas. The plan will last 7 days, starting Monday July 21, with the option to potentially extend the order 30 days.

Each of the past two mornings, I’ve shorted Uranium Resources, Inc. (URRE)—mainly cuz it’s up so much and its horrendous long-term chart and level 2 price action tells me there’s a ton of bitter shareholders looking to sell on these bounces. This 100% stock price spike naturally has brought in the short sellers, many of [...]
The new measures imposed by the SECP this morning saw the KSE-100 index soar to an all time daily gain of 960.50 points, the highest ever one day gain in the history of the Karachi Stock Exchange. The new rules will provide temporary relief from the " bleeding rectum syndrome " for most investors for [...]

Over the past few days, I’ve had muchas problemas shorting all these hot energy stocks—mostly because I hadn’t taken my medicine lately—when really all I had to do was wait for them to go negative on the day. (late yesterday afternoon, I made my latest tiny-account-so-I-can’t-risk-any-pain-damn-that-really-sucks-for-my-strategy kind of a mistake, shorting 300 PDO at $26.38, [...]
There are dozens of ways to sell short a stock.
1. Traditional Short Sale: Borrow the stock against a fifty percent margin. This is the only type of short sale that can be squeezed when the share price moves up because the short seller must add money to their margin account.
2. A Market Maker Short Sale: U. S. Market Makers are not required to make physical delivery of stock certificates when
Many consumers in California, where the housing market has been hit possibly the hardest, are moving towards short selling their homes instead of getting a second mortgage. This serves to hurt them in the long term, since a short sale does go down as a negative on a credit report. Experts state that a second [...]

of course there are times when some people can have an edge, but u forget i'm talking to now 5,000 people/day, 4950 of them or so will have no edge whatsoever so i'm not gonna qualify my statements for that 1%. just like when i say all these microcaps are crap, yes, maybe around 1% of them aren't, but again, i write/trade in terms of odds.
u have no idea how stupid people are cuz u havent seen the tens of thousands of emails i have--not saying its a bad thing, its just reality...and i'm gonna protect those stupid people from making stupid mistakes--the trades i write about, even stupid people can do well on, myself being the perfect example.
i know these concepts are far and away too much for the lot of u o grasp--you're used to just "buy this" BS, but just trust me, this is my life, i u
talking about manipulation and short selling being almost the same as buying, its true. theres people who hype them up and you are hyping them down. allows everybody even more profits as long as you go in when the time is right.
and you know you are promoting your strategy that its actually starting to become nothing more than an entertaining timothy sykes aka "WWE" and "the rock" as you refer to them.
i read almost every post since november and i only do it for entertaining purposes rather than to figure out the next hyped up and hyped down company on wall street. i have never traded a stock on this site and most likely never will.
what i find is the peak of everything is that you claim that everything else (especially not failing companies) are just a random guessing game. most of the
Thanks for this post Tim, very helpful. I'm buying your DVD in another month or so (and I still owe you a review for your book too...) my company is super busy getting ready for the upcoming season, so I want to make sure I have time to enjoy it... talk soon.

also wanted to thank you for EDEN, made a cool $2k on Friday, all thanks to you and your DVD, thanks again!
haha saw this on a message board. funny and true.
Its not that Timothy Sykes is not a good teacher. cause thats not the problem at all. its just he is still at infancy with his learning/trading skills. I am sure there were thousands of timothy sykes people during the dot com era and made money exactly the way he did. he was just the only egotistical one to brag about it.
With all the time I spend scouring the landscape for ideal trades, preaching against random market noise and for disciplined trading, I often forget to explain the bare bones basics. Starting now, this will change—every few days I’ll have a detailed lesson. Today, I write about my all-time favorite trading strategy: short selling, which involves [...]
Late Wednesday, when I posted this article predicting a 25% drop in (PSTI), I thought it’d be over and done with by Thursday. But that move didn’t complete itself til today, my baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

Im sorry I digressed and didnt name the solar stock. Its TSSP.pk. Six Rivers Solar. Real up and cummer with solar hot water systems in huge apt complexes. I did get burned by two pennys a couple months ago, scra.pk and cnoa.pk in a pump and dump I got sucked into. Im telling you when you read Tim then TTTHEDGEFUND and feed the bull right after each other its like a personal session with Tony Robbins. These guys will be huge someday.
humboldt this is your last warnings, stop spamming my site, if you want exposure for your site, stop being so cheap and buy an advertising package, they're not that expensive and instead of deleting your comments, i'll actually help drive traffic to your site!
if its not right for you then so be it, but for heaven's sake, stop comment spamming!
I aggree with that. Morningstar is beginning to sound facist, Tim has got me hooked on penny research. Theres this tiny little solar company in the town I live in. Ive watched it for months and nearly everyday at certain points it flies up like 3X or more from like .003 to .011. Im so into following TTTHEDGEFUND and getting my substantial losses back but tim is a proven winner on the little fellas and when I get my balls back Im in. TTT Got short into the 1375 top and now is loading up for a 7-10% rally by Memorial Day ..He thinks we can double our money in that time .....on options and futures long. Check these guys out but tim is still the man.
Last night, I posted about how excited I was to short another failing biotech into a ridiculous penny-stock-promoter-fueled price spike. Just like the last time, I wanted a 25% drop in stock price, but I didn’t get that, the price action just didn’t play out as I wanted it to—a decent 8% drop, but [...]
As I posted early this morning, there were lots of potential shorts today, but I had to be extra-choosy due to the SEC’s reign of terror over accounts under $25k (explanation down below).

What is short-selling? Short-selling, in the context of the stock market, is the practice where an investor sells shares that he does not own at the time of selling them. He sells them in the hope that the price of those shares will decline, and he will profit by buying back those shares at a lower price. In India, there is no prohibition on short-selling by retail investors. Institutional investors —domestic mutual funds and foreign institutional investors registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), banks and insurance companies — are prohibited from short-selling and are mandatorily required to settle on the basis of deliveries of securities owned and held by them. How is short-selling beneficial? Short-selling is considered an essential feature of the securities market not just for providing liquidity, but also for helping price corrections in over valued stocks. Supporters of short-selling claim its absence distort efficient price discovery, gives promote
There are a few variations of terms associated with this concept so first let me throw out the common phrases and then explain what it actually is..."Short a stock" (Short is used as a verb)"Short position" (Short used an an adjective)"Short Selling" (Short used as an adjective)...are the three most common uses of the term "short" as it relates to investing. Okay great, but what the heck does it mean?!Shorting a stock means selling shares of a stock THAT YOU DO NOT OWN. You would only do this if you expected that stock TO DECREASE IN VALUE. Eventually you have to "cover your short position" by buying the stock later (hopefully at a lower price than what you sold it for). This is a backwards way of buying low and selling high in that you actually start out by selling high and then buying low. Confused yet? :) Keep reading...Let's use an example: Let's say that company ABC's shares are trading at $50.00 per share to
The reputation of global hedge funds may have taken a knock after the subprime mess in the US, but as far as India is concerned, there seems to be no such problems for India-focused hedge funds.
Hedge fund managers across Asia are converging in Hong Kong next week for a four-day conference, of which one session will discuss the prospects and potential for the hedge fund industry in the Indian
Some timing strategies seek to take advantage of anticipated declines in the price of various investment assets (stocks, bonds, etc.). One way to do so is to sell short. Short sellers reverse the normal investment process. Usually you buy an investment in hopes that its price will rise so that you can sell it later for a profit. The short seller, in contrast, sells first in the hopes that the price will fall so that the asset can be purchased later at a lower price. Most short sellers are short-term traders. Since the prices of most investment assets tend to rise over the long term, short sellers are in a sense swimming against the current. They would prefer not to need to swim upstream for too long. Ideally, short sellers would like to implement their short sales positions just before a big price decline, cover their short position immediately after the price drops, and move on to the next situation.
Short sellers seek first to identify and then to establish a short position in o
In general, people think of investing as buying an asset, holding it while it appreciates in value, and then eventually selling to make a profit. The exact opposite of that is short selling. You make money when the asset falls in value. Let us take a quick look at what is short selling.A Review of Short SellingWhen you sell X number of stocks that you do not own, but you promise to buy it back in future is called short selling. So how can you sell a stock you do not own ? Basically your broker will lend it to you. Sooner or later you must buy back the same X number of stocks (covering) and return them back to your broker. When you buy back the stock at the lower price than you sold earlier, you obviously made a profit on the difference. However if the stock price rises, you end up losing money. Most of the time, you can hold a short for as long as you want. However, you can be forced to cover if the lender wants back the stock you borrowed. This is known as being called away. If there
The Karachi Stock market opened on a high note after a closure of 11 days due to Eid. It made a high of 11,635 and then dipped down to 11,434. Today is the first time since the middle of June that short selling has been allowed, a reality check for this market. While the market looks firm and there is a lot of noise about it testing its previous 12,300 + high once again, don’t discount a possiblity of a correction down to 11k. RSI levels are very high and the market is overbought, especially OGDC and NBP. Cements have taken a good bashing. The next upward resistance levels are 11,630 and 11,700.
