Cross posted at Grizzly Groundwell It is pretty sad when the disciples of the New Church of Manbearig go to this kind of extreme to fool the public. Now the cooling period that is natural is going to slow down...
Following on from my previous post about a node in the backbone infrastructure failing I managed to find a replacement unit on e-bay. The only problem was, when it arrived, the unit worked fine but the fibre interface was faulty and that was the bit I needed. So, I've taken all the units ( three of them now! ) and given them a good clean as one of them was absolutely choc full of dust ( the result of being in a factory environment for many a year). I also swapped around the fibre cables 'just in case' and I've just managed to get a signal - how long it will last is anyone's guess but in the short term as long as it lasts long enough to pull all the Time and Attendance data through we should be ok.A medium term solution is going to be to run a Cat-5 UTP cable between Cab-2 and Cab-3 so I can utilise the RJ-45 ports and bypass the fibre temporarily. The long term solution is going to be:a) Get the fibre itself tested from end-point to end-pointb) Obtain new Fibre Patch Cables SC-STc)
Do you have mythical creatures doing the housework at your domicile?
Some of you may have the Laundry Leprechaun. Or the Dishwashing Dauphin. Maybe the Toilet Medusa comes by on occasion and freshens the place up a bit?
We have the Ice Fairy. Her coming was foretold of old, and she blesses the holy ice trays with her succulent, frozen essence.
While her glory is highly adored and her grace accepted liberally, her reliability is somewhat…variable.
*creak* *rattle* *growl*
"There’s no ice left!"
"Didn’t the Ice Fairy come and bless us?"
"No, she had the weekend off, thank you very much. Plus, can’t she get some assistance around here on occasion?"
"It’s the Ice Fairy, I try not to mess with her territory."
"I suggest a coalition with the Fairy the next time or you’ll both find yourselves on ice."
"Isn’t that

Well if 200 hours gameplay wasn't enough, Bethesda have rustled up another 30 hours plus in this full blown expansion of their life sucking masterpiece Oblivion. Scoring 87% from 7 reviews on Gamestats.com

Storytelling and artistry simply soar beyond anything else the Elder Scrolls team has done
Shivering Isles features more than 30 hours of new gameplay and allows you to explore an entirely new plane of Oblivion – the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Shivering Isles adds to the existing world of Oblivion so you can continue playing with your existing save game/character, or create an all new character just to explore the new content. Within the Realm of Sheogorath, players can explore the two extreme sides of the god’s madness – the sublimely creative and the completely psychotic.

Tuesday is a big day for all those Oblivion fans lookin for something new. Besides being the first major expansion for the first next-gen elder scrolls, Shivering Isles is also the first MAJOR update for agame to be pushed through an XBox live. I'm not talking about fixes, or mission packs either.
Supposedly Shivering Isles is a full fledged expansion sporting 30hours of gameplay and a large amount of totally new content. If you've got an Xbox 360 you probably know that Oblivion is one of the richest, longest, most attractive games the console has seen so far. It's going to be interesting to see how the expansion plays out - if it's anything like Mehrune's Razor it'll be a welcome addition to the game.
Before you shell out your cash (or xbox points if you're going the 360 route) for the expansion just remember that Mehrune's Razor ended up being free for a few weeks just a few months after it's initial launch.
