I love this story...it's about a shelter that is thinking out of the box to help their pups find new homes, and taking adoptable dogs to a farmers market. I love farmers markets, and there are a wide variety of people that attend such events to find everything from locally grown produce, to jams/jellies, and even coffee from espresso machines. What a great social place to help a pup find a new fur

I opened my mailbox yesterday and found this great looking vintage postcard with a nude model lying across the sand. I was intrigued. Flipping over the postcard, I saw that it was an invitation from the Sunset Beach Hotel located in Shelter Island, New York. For those that don’t know, Shelter Island is a stones throw away from the Hamptons and retains a slightly more hipster feel than its more famous (infamous?) neighbor. Sunset Beach is a boutique hotel owned by Andre Balazs who’s claim to fame includes the Chateau Marmont and Standard Hotel properties. The hotel itself only has twenty rooms, each appointed with hardwood floors, 400 thread count sheets, and a view of the sea from a private sundeck. Designed as a summer getaway, Sunset Beach is open between Memorial Day and Labor

Many restaurants can greatly benefit from purchasing a wall mounted smoking shelter since smoking has been banned in public places throughout the United Kingdom. The ban placed in effect in July sends many grumbling customers outdoors to enjoy a cigarette before, during or after their meal. Smokers must stand outside during the cold and rainy months, getting annoyed as they try to enjoy a simple cigarette.Improve your restaurants customer satisfaction and generate more people to your restaurant through the use of a wall mounted smoking shelter. Your customers will be happy that you have this kind of unit available to them. No longer will they have to worry about the elements as they enjoy a smoke, a smoking shelter will protect them from the elements.A wall mounted smoking shelter is made

Los Angeles County is being sued for animal abuse. LA Daily News has this to say…
Citing the recent death of 10-month-old puppy at the Carson animal shelter, the national No Kill Advocacy Center has sued Los Angeles County, alleging unlawful and abusive treatment of thousands of dogs and cats at its six shelters, officials said Friday. The lawsuit alleges that the county Department of Animal Care and Control kills thousands of healthy and treatable animals before their state-mandated holding period expires, misclassifies animals as “ill” or “injured” in order to kill them before the holding period ends, and kills lost animals without making reasonable attempts to find the animals’ owners.
It also alleges that the county fails to provide adequate veterinary care, nutrition, water, shelter and exercise to animals and refuses to release animals to rescue groups.
The lawsuit follows the Dec. 5 death of a puppy at the Carson shelter. Animal advocates alle

Update 2 — This house was pulled from the MLS and relisted at $1,549,000. This seller must realize they are a bagholder and they are getting really motivated to save whatever they can of their equity. Right now, if they get their new asking price, they stand to lose $294,940 after a 6% commission.

By: Jason Petrina Snakes need a comfortable and secure home in your home. Having the safest enclosure for your snake is the important to you and your family. Many snakes, such as King snakes are known for finding a way to escape out of the cage. It isn’t hard to make your snake a home, but you have to find the right enclosure to prevent the chance of them escaping. Snakes are very clever animals, they will even try to get out of the smallest outing if possible, they also have an advantage of having no arms or legs at all! The shelter for your snake should be large enough that they are able move around in the enclosures. Snake enclosures usually come in forms called cages and vivarium. One side of their enclosure should be warm and the other side should be cold. I suggest adding a hide box to the shelter because snakes get stressed out just like humans, a hide box is great for your snake to get away from his regular surroundings sometimes. Your snake needs a water dish that is large e

Loudoun County's new 7,000 square-foot homeless shelter is causing quite a stir in the community. The Good Shepherd Alliance's new "Center of Hope" facility, located at 20684 Ashburn Rd next to the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue station, officially broke ground on Monday and has generated numerous responses throughout Loudoun County, especially in Ashburn.
Some residents say that the Good Shepherd Alliance facility "is actually providing a wonderful and greatly needed service" while others say that a homeless shelter in the area is "completely unacceptable". To view responses or leave a comment of your own, check out Tammi Marcoullier's post on Living in LoCo, which also has a copy of the letter from Broad Run District Supervisor Lori Waters to residents in the community regarding the issue.
If you are interested in voicing your opinion on the shelter/facility or just listening in to the discussions, you can attend the community meeting on November
I remember just a few years ago I started wondering why we no longer seemed afraid of nuclear war. I had seen videos depicting the fear shared by members of my parent generation a few decades ago. I figured, "Well, the threat isn't that big a deal anymore." But then I wondered, if we still have the technology, there's still a threat. Sure, foreign countries aren't really in the news all that much (this was a few years ago, mind you) as being threatening in a nuclear sense, but that could change. Every time I heard another country became a nuclear power, I felt like one of the geeky kids cheated his way into the popular clique. "India has The Bomb? What in the world happened?"
The media wasn't really mentioning nuclear war as a major issue. Movies depicted end times scenarios, but that was about it. We focused on "lesser" battles, non-nuclear confrontations. And slowly, steadily, various nations began acquiring nuclear technol
You can find a good companion in a dog from a shelter. You first need to clarify what traits you want in your new dog, as well as evaluate what kind of home you can provide.A Compatible DogMost dogs available for adoption at a shelter are adult dogs. I am going to inform you about them because they are easier to care for than a puppy; and there are so many staying in shelters that need homes. If the dog will live inside pick one that is housebroken. That is something you couldn't find in a puppy. As far as intelligence, trainability and friendliness there appears to be no difference between males and females. Males, however, tend to be more territorial. They mark and defend territory, though neutering helps this behavior. Medium to large dogs are alway more plentiful.Long-haired dogs not only shed but they get hot under that coat in the summer. Did you know that they hide more parasites and even infections? Collies and huskies have a double coat for cold weather. I suggest that you no

Your new pal won’t need much—the Burberry overcoat and crystal tiara are optional—but essentials include food and water bowls, safe chew toys, grooming tools, a collar and leash, an identification tag and a crate with bedding (towels will do if you don’t want to spend money on a fancy crate pad).
When it comes to food, try to buy the same brand he’s already eating. If you want to change foods, make the switch gradually, mixing old food with new, over a period of a few weeks.
2. Divvy Up Responsibilities
Update 2 — This house was pulled from the MLS and relisted at $1,549,000. This seller must realize they are a bagholder and they are getting really motivated to save whatever they can of their equity. Right now, if they get their new asking price, they stand to lose $294,940 after a 6% commission.
Update 1 — The asking price on this house just dropped from $1,700,000 to $1,650,000. That is a motivated seller. If today’s seller gets their asking price, they stand to lose $203,000.

Today we had our first family court appearance for Ebony and I think it went pretty well. Both the judge and DCF attorney was very understanding and agreed that we needed to do what we did. They also agreed that the facility was being very negligent in even considering to release our daughter back into society. The judge ordered her into DCF care and that she remain in the facility she is in for the time being. They were in awe that we were able to care for her at home as long as we did. Other than them now being in charge of her care everything else stays the same. We are still allowed contact , family therapy ,etc. We will not be required to relinquish our parental rights.I'm not thrilled about having to access services for my child by going this route but it is the only way. The system for accessing services for seriously mentally ill children should be easier to obtain. One should not have to sell their soul to obtain them. It should also be more family friendly. I hear
I would like to start by thanking you for recently assisting one of my clients with an vehicle. As a domestic and sexual violence shelter we are tremendously grateful to 1-800 Charity Cars for all the help you have provided to individuals in need. By providing a vehicle to individuals in need, this program gives people a form of independence that they possibly have never obtained in the past. Many of our individuals we provide services to have to flee their homes leaving behind all material items in order to start over. This is difficult for those who need items such as a vehicle for transportation to get them back and forth to work or school. Once again, I would like to thank you for this wonderful service you provide to instill the success of others in need.Juliet

Nick Carter is famous for being one of the Backstreet Boys and for being Paris Hilton’s ex and her co-star in the infamous sex video…

Nick Carter’s Mother in the Doghouse

The fragile reconciliation between Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his mother Jane is definitely off, after Jane dumped Nick’s dog Layla at a North Tampa animal shelter earlier this week — without Nick’s knowledge or permission. Doggin’!
Nick asked his mother to babysit for pit bull mix Layla, while he geared up for his upcoming reunion tour with Backstreet Boys. He was even paying her for the dog’s upkeep, but apparently, Jane had no interest in holding up her end of the bargain.
Ranelle Black, who rescued the pit bull from an L.A. County animal shelter and let Nick adopt the pup in March 2006, said she received a call from the Florida shelter on Mon

crap in my pants!!!!. Or should the title be "Let's party like it's 1929!!!!!" Ouch and as I write this the futures are falling apart again.-Today was a day, I should just not trade. I had to get up early for a conference call which was cancelled in the middle of night but before I knew it I had made coffee and bathed - silly me. Then I decided it was a good day to upgrade my Anti Virus software(see note below) - silly me. So being not in a right frame of mind, I tried trading - silly me. As the totals showed, I lost $200 but each trade I fat fingered something about everyone of them and then panicked - silly me. I was off balance from the get go and never regain my footing. Dogster.com has a post they’re asking people to pass along. It’s about Mason County Animal Shelter in Point Pleasant, WV, which is in danger of having most of their dogs being euthanized.
Noted author Jim Willis barked in this urgent alert regarding the Mason County Animal Shelter which is facing a massive euthanasia of unwanted yet healthy dogs. According to another message, the County Commissioners are not giving the shelter staff any more time. The Commissioners will be taking over the shelter very soon and putting down all but 50 dogs.
The shelter has days to find homes for 200 dogs, before the commissioners step in and euthanize most of them.

Philosophy really knows what we’re looking for to keep in our bags this summer! They have created a new SPF moisturizer called Shelter, but it is more than just a sunblock. Not only does it protect you from the sun, but Shelter has a light, non-greasy moisturizing formula that goes on smooth and matte, so you feel like you’re using a luxurious cosmetic more than a sunblock!
There are two different versions of Shelter, and both are SPF 30. One version is un-tinted, and is great for your face and body. It gives you full protection from the sun, as well as anti-aging benefits and deep moisturization. You can get it for $25 here.
The other version is tinted, and it is great for a gorgeous, sun-kissed glow. It has the same protection and moisturizing formula as the un-tinted version, but it has a flattering shade that compliments all skin tones! This is great for anyone who prefers a tinted moisturizer. You can get it for $20 here.
I love Rolling Stones' original songs, and lately I've been finding a lot of not-quite-as-good-but-still-really-cool takes on their work. Yesterday was the electronic cover of "Paint it Black", and today is the (mostly) instrumental remix of "Gimme Shelter". Good stuff, especially for remixers looking for mashup material.powered by ODEO
