NBC have finally announced that the cult 80's show Knight Rider will return to our screens for a new series. The show will return in February 17th 2008, there are to be a number of changes to the show but the two major ones is that David Hasselhoff will play an old Michael Knight but the big news is that KITT will be played by a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR instead of the old Firebird, the voice to KITT will be played by Will Arnett.
According to Auto Blog the new series of KITT will have three different cars that they will use for different scenes in the show, the first is a 540-hp standard version which is used for all the normal scenes, then there will be a high-speed version which has body amour for the KITT Attack mode, and finally we have the Remote version of KITT. The cool thing with the new KITT is that nanotechnology allows the car to change both its shape and color.

An 800-horsepower Shelby Cobra, once the personal car of the racing veteran who developed the iconic vehicle, has sold for $5.5 million at auction, a record for an American car.
The sale of the 1966 Shelby Cobra “Super Snake” brought a packed house to its feet Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction after a pair of bidders drove the price up.
Carroll Shelby, 84, who created the Cobra in the ’60s using Ford engines and a British sport car chassis, said he built the Super Snake — with twin superchargers on a 427 cubic inch V-8 — and drove it for years.
“It’s a special car. It would do just over three seconds to 60 (mph), 40 years ago,” Shelby told the crowd before the sale.
“I killed a buzzard with it,” he said. “Nasty, nasty.”
The car had a twin, built for comedian Bill Cosby, but that car was destroyed in an accident while being driven by another owner, according to the Barrett-Jackson Web site.

Carroll Shelby, Bob Bondurant, Phil Remington and other racing heroes will headline the Shelby American Collection’s 11th annual celebration at its museum in Boulder on December 1, 2007. The annual holiday party honors the race history of Carroll Shelby, his legendary 1960s Shelby American Team and the automobiles they built. This year marks the 40th anniversary of their victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1967, as well as the team’s championship Trans Am team. The celebration will debut an original painting by automotive fine artist Bill Neale.
“We’ve planned the most ambitious gala in the museum’s history with a prestigious guest list and historic cars that will make the evening very special,” said Steven Volk, Shelby American Collection co-founder. “Carroll and our guests will enjoy a memorable party with highlights such as the unveiling of a Bill Neale painting that will be sold that evening to benefit our endowment fund.”

A lengthy page-one story in the July 23rd issue of Automotive News sharply criticizes the “skimpy givings” by the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation. Shelby, a noted American racing driver and winner of France’s 24 Hours of Le Mans sports-car race in the 1950s, was alerted to the plight of children awaiting life-giving organs while he, himself, awaited a suitable heart for transplant. After receiving the heart in 1991 and its successful transplant, Shelby created the charity that bears his name. Its goal: Help pay medical expenses for families with children in need of organs and tissue transplants or plagued by acute cardiac disorders. The charity has benefited from Shelby’s 2006 business renewal with the Ford Motor Co., with which he created the hot-selling Cobras and Shelby Mustangs in the 1960s.
