Well Dee wins it and NOT Charlie! I guess u had to be there. Charlie is the best one and has been from the first show. But... I did like what Dee said about her MOM. Charlie getting his boyfriend a nose job was LAME..Come on how stupid was to say on national tv. CONGRATS DEE ENJOY YOUR WINNINGS!
We are totally furious that they kicked off that cute little Daniel and kept that eeeewwwww DEE! She only knows 1 style and does it over and over. Even the dog had that hair cut! COME ON Oh well Little Daniel will probably have his own shop in Malibu SOONBUHBYE DANIEL WE LOVED YOU! AT LEAST THAT GUY THAT LOOKED LIKE A GOAT GOT KICKED OFF FIRST!
Anthony won the final round of Shear Genius. Congratulations, Anthony. I think all three finalists were solid...in fact, I thought popular favorite, Ben, would win...I would actually let him style my hair. I thought he had some amazing styles throughout the competition and he has an edgier style that I prefer...none-the-less, Anthony was always polished and competent.Sadly, Jaclyn Smith did NOT get a makeover...she is still sporting that '80s look...sigh.I have to say that legend, Vidal Sassoon, stole the show tonight...his positive outlook and bright attitude made the others look like stale jello pudding.--The Clever CynicThe Clever Cynic, http://theclevercynic.blogspot.com/

This post is another loopy product from Ms. Place's mind, so once again, bear with me.I can't wait for a fresh installment of Shear Genius tonight. Tabatha made the show truly exciting, but she was booted off for taking her eye off the top prize and getting sidetracked by a small gnome named Tyson. Never mind. I'm hooked. And I shall watch Shear Genius until the bitter end. (Click here for my Tabatha quiz on Bravissimo.)I love popular culture and find that crud t.v. is good for the soul. Truth is, I love trad as well (a new word I learned from a tweenie. It's short for traditional.) In regard to trad, I must finish Kite Runner by Khaled Hoisseini for book club tomorrow.Run, don't walk to your nearest Amazon.com or library and read this 2004 novel. I rarely gush over popular literature, but this book is guaranteed to please and teach at the same time. It is worth every penny I spent and I haven't even finished the darned thing yet!I bought Kite Runner at Barnes & Noble about a yea
Have you heard of this new reality show from Bravo TV called Shear Genius? If you watched Top Design, then you musth know of it. If not, well basically it’s a show about hair stylists vying for a price and recognition of their craft. Oooh what a concept huh? LOL. At first I was wary of it coz I was thinking, “hmm, how could they possibly go week by week cutting hair?, what would be unique about it?”. Well after watching the first episode, I got the concept. It’s not just about cutting a bob style, or layers, or bangs, etc. They have challenges where they have to create a masterpiece on someone’s head using the hair and creativity. I’ve seen one episode where a hairstylist won the challenge by cutting hair using a scissor used to cut and trim bushes. I mean it was huge. If I was the model, I would’ve run for my life.
Thanks to Ben, for letting us know, you and a friend could win a trip to NYC with a $500 shopping spree, visit a top hair salon
This week’s show was one of my favorites so far! In the short cut challenge, the contestants were asked to take a long-haired “geek” guy and turn him into someone “sheek.” Ok, a little cheesy, but I was impressed by the results! In the end, my girl Tab came out victorious, although truth be told, I think Dr. Boogie deserved to win. Tabatha’s haircut was impressive, but Boogie’s overall change was AMAZING. I don’t think that his guy will have a problem getting the ladies now!
For the elimination challenge, the contestants each got a box filled with hair accessories that were from a specific period. As the winner, Tabatha got to assign the boxes. I think she made good choices in general, because she gave a lot of the more difficult styles to her major competitors. Here are the runway results:
Tyson
I was soooo impressed with this. Tyson ended up winning the challenge (which means he’ll be eliminated next week if you look at the trend
Let me just give you a quick rundown of the show, in case you missed it: The shortcut challenge is to create an easy day to night look. Danna wins. Dr. Boogie’s poor model loses all of her hair. They go to the spa. Tabatha has confirmed that she pretty much hates Tyson, Evangeline, and Daisy, but likes Anthony and thinks Danna and Ben are ok. She doesn’t know what to think of Dr. Boogie. Evangelina has decided to use hedge clippers from now on because she thinks…it’s cool? Everyone else disagrees, especially Tab. The elimination challenge is to create a red carpet hairstyle. Ben panics. Boogie is overly confident. Here are the finished styles:
Tyson
This just looks a little unfinished to me. I’m not a fan of Tyson for the same reasons Tabatha dislikes him–he thinks that he’s too cool for school.
Evangelin
Hedge clipper fiasco or not, I liked this. Ok, the tendrils were a little much…but out of all of the styles, this is one of the fe
As part of national Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day, I’ve invited my younger sister, Jess, and my younger cousin, Katie, to review this week’s episode of Shear Genius! Neither of them get Bravo channel at home, but they went online to view the pictures of the finished product, and I have to say–some of their comments match up exactly to what the judges had to say!
And so, without further ado, the Shear Genius review by Katie and Jess:
Tyson
Katie: This hair style looks like bed-head and not done. It looks flat. I don’t like the color ether.
Jess: At first glance, I thought “Oh that’s really cute!” But then I looked at it again and the proportions started to bother me. The one side is nice and flowing, but the other looks very square and clean cut. Pick one or the other dude.
My two cents? Katie and Jess are right on! Tyson had first pick of model and of cutting instrument, and his hairstyle ended up looking flat and uneven. How does this guy always wi
This show is sheer fun! If you haven't seen it yet, and if you loved Top Chef and Project Runway, this show is for you! Not only is our blog, Bravissimo, recapping Shear Genius, but so are the Project Gay guys, Tom and Lorenzo. There's so much to cover, there's room for us all! This reality t.v. show is so delicious and fun that you MUST give it a chance. The hair dressers, with their over the top personalities, the colorful (but insightful) judges, and the crazy hair challenges are worthy of an hour of our time. Don't worry if you can't catch this show on Wednesday nights - Bravo offers reruns ad infinitum! My favorite characters so far?Judge Sally (got more mojo than Cojo) Hershberger. This lady's tough but fair. I trust her judgment.Tabatha, who tugs at my inner dominatrix heart strings. She's tougher than 100 year cured leather!Anthony, who's talented and interesting and yummylicious.(He's this week's winner in the center.)Daisy who cries at the drop of a hairpin and who re
Jaclyn Smith, one of the original Charlie’s Angels, is the new host of Bravo’s Shear Genius. In a recent interview With Zap 2 It, she talked about the show and her personal hair style.
“When I saw the garden shears, the box cutters, I was then in awe of all the stylists,” Smith tells Zap2it.com. “I thought that was fun. I really, really liked that. That probably was my favorite.” READ MORE
Garden shears!?! Box cutters!?! I’m pretty open about my hair style, but there’s not why I’d let someone come at me with that kind of thing!

Bravo’s Top Design is coming to an end (thank God), but its being replaced with what looks like an equally horrible reality show, Shear Genius. C’mon people, bring back Project Runway and Top Chef for more seasons and forget the other crap. And where is Queer Eye?!?
Whatever.
Anyway, although most of Bravo’s reality shows have had a few international players, Shear Genius is really mixing it up with 4 of the 12 contestants being from overseas (France, England, South Africa, and Australia). One of the judges is also originally from Denmark. You can head over to Pop Buzz UK for an international viewpoint on reality television and all things pop culture.
Look for more on Shear Genius in the coming weeks as Top Design comes to an end. And by end, I mean death. And by death, I mean suicide.
Shear Genius, Top Design, pop culture
With Top Design tanking, we Bravo fans are putting our money on Shear Genius, the new reality show in which hair stylists go head to head clipping, perming, combing, bouffanting, and bobbing their way to the top. We know that host Jaclyn Smith has already been chosen. So have a few of the judges, many of them hair icons from previous generations.
