I was really unsure what to get for John's Mum this year and he was insistent that she'd love a shawl, like the one I'd made on holiday. So I've just finished it in a lovely Louisa Harding Kimono Angora. I'm still always a bit shy of giving home made gifts - I think my Mum put me off a bit because I think she's from the generation where things had to be made at home because they couldn't afford to buy new things. I finally (Yes I know it's taken me forever!) uploaded some pictures of the shawl I crocheted on my trip to the states. I love crochet but haven't been doing it very long (completely self taught from Debbie Stoller's fantastic book The Happy Hooker) so I tend to use it for easy patterns and this sweet pea shawl was lovely to do - very simple and came together quickly (very gratifying.) I find crochet perfect for doing on planes as security people tend to be a bit suspicious of knitting needs (I can see their point I suppose.)
Anyway this was done in 2 7 hour flights and a couple of evenings in front of the TV. I now have it as a throw on my sofa and it's perfect for cold shoulders or legs on these chilly evenings.

I saw these Pashmina Shawl on Amazon, of all places, but if you can nab them on the streets of NYC, so i thought "why not Amazon", they are becoming known for more than just books you know( check out their shoe store- wow). I have about 20 shawls, compliements of a good freind of mine who buys them from India and re-sells them. I recommend them if you live any place thats really cold, like NYC or Paris. Hi! I just discovered this forum tonight and am posting because I am stumped. I have a raglan jacket draft and am trying to add in a shawl collar, my raglan line ends in the middle of the neckline. Normally, I would draft a diagonal line from my breakpoint to the neckline intersection, but am confused since my front is in two pieces (the raglan which includes the neck and shoulder intersection and the front piece where the breakpoint is). My question is, how would I draft this with the neckline intersection and breakpoint being on two different pieces? Do I start off with the diagonal line connecting to a different spot? Or do I still draft to the neckline on a diagonal and then... where would I go from there (I had to cut my draft to get rid of a shoulder dart, so the pieces are literally
