Reverend Al Sharpton is calling on citizens of New York City to come together for a day of active protests throughout the city on Wednesday (May 7).Sharpton and the National Action Network are organizing a citywide “pray in” in six locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn, in hopes of moving the United States Department of Justice to action in the Sean Bell case. In the wake of the awful Sean Bell cop trial verdict, Al Sharpton met with U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., on April 29. When the meeting was over, Sharpton came out to find his car was missing, according to The New York Post. No, it wasn't stolen. Hardly. It was, instead, towed away by the New York City Police Department because the car's owner (not sure if it was Big Al's car or someone else's) owed the city $900 in tickets. Ah at least there's some kind of justice in this world! (It's also amazing how a man who hasn't held a job in decades can afford to drive around in a Jaguar).
Al Sharpton is asking for us all as human beings who don't agree with the Sean Bell's verdict to come out on Wednesday and demonstrate that we will not stand still for this "Not Guilty" verdict. Sharpton says demonstrators would gather Wednesday afternoon at six locations throughout the city, including New York Police headquarters, and fan out to other areas to disrupt the flow of the city. "Where we go from there is anybody's guess," said Rachel Noerdlinger, Sharpton's spokeswoman. they'll be arrested praying." Sharpton hopes that the images of people getting arrested for praying will force federal law enforcement officials to take over the investigation of the three NYPD detectives who were acquitted of killing an innocent man in cold blood for no reason. And Mo'Kelly found it pretty funny actually. There has been some "slight" controversy over whether the animated piece was "inappropriate" depicting how Obama would go to great lengths to distance himself from the civil rights leaders.Check that...civil rights leader (Jesse) and the "other guy". Although the animation is a parody, there is a profound discussion to be had as to Obama's tightrope walk between mainstream America and the acknowledgment of particular figures prominent in Black America. To date, Jackson has publicly announced his support for Obama, Sharpie has not endorsed either Democratic candidate although he has hinted at supporting Obama. And Farrakhan...well we all know how that turned out.Anyhow, here is the link to the video, you decide...

Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has agreed to be the Green Party's presidential candidate in 2008. Claiming that the Democratic Party (her former party) has "left so many of its base supporters behind," McKinney said that she accepted the Party's invitation this year after being wooed by them in both 2000 and 2004. Her announcement was greeted with very little fanfare from the national press, and leading Democratic presidential candidates did not even blink. Her candidacy has the potential, of course, of drawing votes away from the Democratic nominee in key states -- something that Green Party presidential candidate (2000) and independent presidential candidate (2004) was accused of doing. It is widely believed that both of Nader's candidacies helped George W. Bush wi

For everyone who wonders why Al Sharpton is in the public eye as a Black civil rights Superman when so many others are accomplishing so much more in a less flamboyant way, I recommend reading an online article in City Hall (www.cityhallnews.com) by Edward-Isaac Dovere. A couple of snippets:“Cynics say, ‘He plays the media,’” Sharpton said. “But if I play the media toward the end goal, that’s saying I’m competent.”------------------------------------------Sen. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama are among those doing the math. Both want his presidential endorsement, and Sharpton has been making them wait. Both could benefit enormously in public perception from the reverend’s backing—Clinton by cementing the foothold in the African-American community her husband enjoyed in his own presidential runs, Obama by using it to help dispel a disconnect some prominent African-Americans have described feeling toward him. Both have made very strong appeals. One thing

“It is terribly disheartening and disappointing to hear Reverend Sharpton offer such appalling comments about a fellow American’s faith,” said Romney spokesman Kevin Madden. “America is a nation of many faiths and common values, and bigotry toward anyone because of their beliefs is unacceptable.”
Sharpton tried to explain his comments:
“What I said was that we would defeat him, meaning as a Republican,” Sharpton said. “A Mormon, by definition, believes in God. They don’t believe in God the way I do, but by definition, they believe in God.”

It appears as though Al Sharpton has received many death threats over the firing of Don Imus.
This whole issue has been blown out of proportion. Where is it going to end? We’ve already heard from Al Sharpton that he isn’t going to stop with Imus, he is going to go after everyone he disagrees with. He feels emboldened by brining down a heavyweight.
We do have free speech in this country, and I do understand you have to draw the line somwhere when it comes to public airwaves, but somehow Al Sharpton has become the voice of where to draw that line. How did that happen?
But death threats? Come on, Al Sharpton is just exercising free speech also, isn’t he?
I'm sure you've seen the coverage over the "nappy headed hos" incident. Don Imus, host of "Imus in the morning" which is a popular radio show.Yes, I know, you see the topic, I'm talking about Imus, I mentioned his show was popular, but don't get me wrong here. I'm not defending his "nappy headed hos" comment. I think it was a stupid, racist, sexist thing to say. Should he have been fired? I don't know, I kind of think that an apology was what was warranted, after that let the audience decide. If enough people stop listening to his show.. it's kaput. Now about the title of this post... I'm sure you were wondering about that.Well, I've always thought that Al Sharpton was a good person who fought for the right things. Apparently I haven't been paying enough attention. I found this on digg earlier. It describes a lot of stuff that Al Sharpton has done himself.I never knew he was such a douchebag. He seems to have a lot more to answer for than Don Imus did. He's nothing but a black
John Ridley says yes. Wow, why hasn't anyone informed me of how oppressed White folks are?Won't somebody please help White people get justice! They've been held down by "the man" for too long!Filed Under: race, john ridley, al sharpton, jesse jackson
Huffington Post Contributor: Sharpton, Clinton, Hypocrisy, And ImusExcerpt:"There's a lot of hypocrisy going on with this Imus mudslinging. Hillary Clinton ">said yesterday of Imus, "I've never wanted to go on his show and I certainly don't ever intend to go on his show, and I felt that way before his latest outrageous, hateful, hurtful comments." None-the-less she has no problem attending a fundraiser hosted for her by Rupert Murdoch. If anyone was responsible for hateful hurtful comments in the media it's the Fox News Channel founder. Hillary here is taking a cheap shot at Barack Obama, who has appeared on Imus though he says he wouldn't again."http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stephen-elliott/sharpton-clinton-hypocr_b_45633.htmlAlex
Drudge Report: IMUS: 'WHEN WILL SHARPTON APOLOGIZE TO DUKE PLAYERS'?Excerpt:"Imus: "My position on all of this is not whining about the hideously hypocritical coverage from the newspapers -- from everybody -- or the lack of support, say, from people like Harold Ford, Jr. who I had my life threatened over supporting and all these kind of things. It all began, and it doesn't make any difference -- like [James] Carville said -- stop talking about the context, it doesn't make any difference. If I hadn't have said it I wouldn't be here. So let's stop whining about it...You gotta stop complaining. I said a stupid, idiotic thing that desperately hurt these kids. I'm going to apologize but we gotta move on.""http://www.drudgereport.com/flash3im.htmAlex

(PART 2 SO CALLED APOLGY FROM THIS JACK ASS!!)Don Imus On Al Sharpton's Radio Show

PART (3) Rutgers players describe how Imus' remarks hurt
Rutgers women's basketball captain Essence Carson says Tuesday that her team hasn't received a personal apology. Don Imus "has stolen a moment of pure grace from us," the captain of the Rutgers women's basketball team said Tuesday, responding to the uproar over the radio host's description of the players as "nappy-headed hos."
Essence Carson and other players spoke out at a press conference in their first public statements since Imus' inflammatory remarks last week.

What an interesting debate! Yes, I think the reporter did a wonderful job conducting this interview with Don Imus and Al Sharpton– one thing I must contribute to this topic if I may! YES, there are rappers and what have you disrespecting and degrading our black women– they are no different from this bigot, it still doesn’t give you the right to reiterate what is being said! You just show the kind of individual you are in that case, I don’t even respect rappers who degrades the African- American woman like that and I think Al Sharpton touched on this matter a little in that interview, which you can watch above.
I don’t understand the comments people are leaving in the first Don Imus post. Why are people comparing comedians to a sports announcer? He is there to talk about sports, not comment on how...

Al Sharpton, HSAN Protest Against Tony YayoAl Sharpton, the Hip Hop Summit Action Network’s Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, and other community and religious leaders are planning a march to protest the alleged actions of G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo. Billed as a “call to action and public grievance,” the rally is planned for Monday as a response to the artist’s alleged assault on the 14-year-old son of hip hop rival Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond, head of Czar Entertainment.Yayo, whose real name is Marvin Bernard, pleaded not guilty on Sunday to misdemeanor charges of harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He is accused of repeatedly pushing and smacking James Rosemond and causing injury to his ear and face. The boy’s mother, Cynthia Reed, has already released a statement condemning the alleged assault, and will reportedly participate in the demonstration, as will Czar Entertainment.“We are involved to try to help mediate this problem,” says Dr. Chavis, Presiden
Reverend Al Sharpton said yesterday that he is considering another bid for the presidency in 2008.
“I don’t hear any reason not to,” Sharpton, 52, said in an interview during an urban affairs conference sponsored by another civil rights leader, the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
“If we’re talking about the urban agenda, can you tell me anybody else in the field who’s representing that right now?” Sharpton asked. “We clearly have a reason to run, and whether we do it or not we’ll see over the next couple of months.”
Sharpton praised the campaign of former Senator John Edwards (D-North Carolina) for his focus on the issue of poverty in America.
The Revd Al Sharpton is still "considering" a run for the White House in 2008, the New York Daily News reports. "Most of the candidates running are trying to move to the right," Sharpton told the newspaper. "There must be someone running that will raise the progressive issues."
Sharpton later said: "I'm waiting to see if someone raises the issues I want to see raised." He reportedly gave Iraq, civil rights and education as examples. Boy, Iraq - what are the chances of that being raised as an issue? We'll have to wait and see, too.
New York Daily News - Politics - Rev. Al mulls White House bid
Gee, old and unimportant news but here are my thoughts valued at $.02; ultimately, nothing involving these people of late is of any importance.
Michael Richards tirade on stage last Friday was big in the news; this because he used the "N" word and called black hecklers in his audience "Ns." Nasty language, un-nice thoughts and it's news because no one has ever used that type of language before.
The New York Daily News and the Rev. Al Sharpton are making a big deal -- as in a multiple-part series -- about the Rev's learning a few days ago that some of his ancestors were once owned by some of the kinfolk of the late Sen. Strom Thurmond.Well, wow!Anyone who knows the history of this country knows that that is no big thing. Most Blacks in the US, myself included, can trace some part of their family tree to some White folks -- and vice versa if Whites are so inclined. I do now have older White people considering me a "cousin" or somehow in an-as- yet-to-be-defined way, kinfolk. I've even been graciously hosted by White people on a visit to the remains of an Allison plantation in North Carolina where some of my folks toiled and some of their descendants still live. In South Carolina, there is a city called Aiken, named for White folks from Ireland whose family in South Carolina and in Georgia owned some of my ancestors. I've got a bill of sale for Ike Aikens -- spelling was alwa
