This view along South Bank towards Big Ben (on the opposite side of the River Thames) attracted my attention due to a couple of things. Firstly the intense light, in places ring lighting some of the figures or parts of them and the interesting mixing of shadows cast by them. Alistair Butt © 2007.The first of two things that attracted me to this subject, apart from the snow, was the lovely shadows crossing the lane and secondly the lane itself as it curved around the right hand trees.Stage One: The top picture shows the under painting, very quickly done but with control where needed, the accurate placing of some of the shadows, tree trucks etc. The general mass of background/small branches was loosely painted on but with the correct colour/colour and tone for later.Stage Two:Beginning with the bank above the left hand stone wall, the detailing of the small outcrop of rocks was painted first, followed by the placing of some of the tree shadows (above the wall) that reached that far. Moving onto the small trees along that bank, the mid toned branches followed by the darker truck & branches were painted before painting the sky around some of the branches, really creating the

I've always wanted to do a review on Elianto makeup, so let me show you what I bought over the weekend.Elianto is inspired from the fashionable, beauty-oriented Korea, and we all know how popular Korean makeup is nowadays (e.g. Skin Food, The Face Shop, etc). Elianto means "sunflower" in Italian. Didn't know that, did ya? Okay, I didn't either :pI've not used Elianto skincare products (yet), so I won't talk much about that. What I love about Elianto is the incredible amount of eye makeup colours (Shimmer Shadows) available. Most of their eye makeup are sold as refills; the colours are caked in a small and flat cylinder, and the packaging's pretty no-nonsense. They either come in plastic covers, or small and flat paper boxes. These work fine for me, as they're very portable, very easy to be carried around in my makeup bag.And when they preach about affordability, they weren't kidding. These eye colours are RM5. EACH. I can buy 10 of them at one go and not feel a pinch :pAnyways,

I went up to Frederic Church’s estate, Olana, to enjoy the beautiful weather and soak up some of his inspiration. I loved the way the tree framed the building, and the way the shadows cast on the side of the mansion and foreground made the light yellow glow. I finished two paintings at Olana today.
