Announcement has been made on pay increase for civil servants. Civil servants now deserved a pay increase from 7.5 per cent to 35 per cent. At the same times, they will also get a 100 per cent increase in the cost of living allowance.
This is really a great news to over 1,000,000 of civil servants, although they have been complained for their ineffectiveness by the public, they still get their pay increase.
Secondary school teachers will have an increment of 15% of their basic pay. Some of my friends who have been a teacher for several years, their basic salary will easily around 2.5k, with this increment; they are going to get an extra 375. This is still not the end yet; do you notice the news that they will also get a 100 per cent increase in the cost of living allowance? Living allowance for teachers is around 150 in average. With the 100% increment, their living allowance will be 300 now. In other words, increment for secondary school teachers will be easily around 400-500.
Comment: Big brother watching? This is the one rule that should never have been introduced. If they have a problem with a few staff who went awol during tea breaks, then they should be dealt with the right way, not with a blanket ruling to say everybody can't go. Next, these people will be forced to eat at their table and have regulated potty breaks. C'mon, get real. The Star reported that there will be no more jom minum (let’s go for a drink) outside the office for Terengganu civil servants during working hours. If they want a cuppa or take a snack break, the 13,000 civil servants in the state will have to make do with the office pantry.
