But this goal can be reached in a totally alternative way, as the launch of the superb AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED shows. This high-performance coupe has LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) drive, where power and efficiency, economy and ecology, meet in an exciting study. As if the extravagant exterior of the project vehicle, based on the current 3-series coupe, were not enough, under the bonnet growls the V10 engine of the current M5/M6 which AC Schnitzeris presenting at the show for the first time in bivalent design: The vehicle has a fully sequential LPG system with two parallel 5-cylinder vaporizers. There's no loss of power or dynamics. The engine, tuned with a remapped control unit and modified exhaust tract with sports catalyst and exhaust manifold, develops 552 HP/406 kW and produces up to 540 Nm at the crankshaft.
BMW launched the US mini-site of the 1-Series Coupe today. The introduction starts with the BMW 2002, and with a caption "40 years later", the 1-Series Coupe pops up. The mini-site offers the official goodies of the 1-Series Coupe we'll get. Along with that came nine stunning hi-res images that look tons better than the initial press shots. Visit BMW USA's website at the source link at the bottom to view the mini-site.Follow the jump to view these "stunning" hi-res images.[Source: BMW USA]
With all these new launches in preparation of Frankfurt, we eclipsed a very important launch from our Bavarian friends. BMW released official information of the 1-Series Coupe on July 1st, and of course, the official hi-res images came along the ride. BMW will also put the 1-Series Coupe in North American showrooms. Here's a rundown of what we can expect for the US version. The US version is expected to go on sale in Spring 2008. Two variants will be available. The 128i will be powered by a 3.0L I6 producing 230HP with 200lb.ft. The range topper, 135i, will be standard with a stunning 3.0L I6 twin-turbo producing 300HP with 300lb.ft. The 135i goes 0-62 in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 155mph. In the UK, the 135i produces 306HP, but 300HP is already good enough to be a proper modern BMW 2002.UK versions also receive two diesel powerplants. Both of them are equipped with BMW's Efficient Dynamics System, which includes stop/start, brake regeneration, and
BMW 1-Series Coupe will be offered in in three versions: the 135i fitted with BMW’s supercilious 306Hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo petrol unit, the 123d that’s equipped with the new 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine that delivers 204Hp and finally the 120d that gets a 177Hp strong 2.0-liter turbo diesel unit. According to BMW, the 135i accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 5,3 sec, the 123d in 7,0 sec and the 120d in 7,6 sec. BMW promises the new 135i has ideal 50:50 weight balance to complement its rear-drive configuration. A classic BMW strut front and multi-link rear suspension will give the 1er "the best in driving dynamics" and "the best in directional stability," the automaker says. To aid in that, BMW stuffs the 135i with stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes with six-piston calipers.A unique M Sport package on European models will include 18-inch alloy wheels, a tauter suspension, sport seats, gloss trim and leather interior trim.No specs for
Besides the 2008 BMW M3, the BMW 1-Series Coupe for the US is probably the most scooped car in recent months. Well as we all get ready for the baby BMW, BMW is taking the car out on Nurburgring for, what we hope, one last run.According to CarMagazine the BMW 1-Series Coupe is set to be revealed on July 1st, which is only 2 weeks away. While the BMW 1-Series Coupe want make it to our roads until early 2008, it will be nice to see the finish products. CarMagazine also caught the most revealing shots of the car on its way to Nurburgring. As BMW, gets closer to the finished product, we’re starting to cope with the idea that the hatchback variant won’t make it to the US.The BMW 1-Series Coupe will make its official debut at theLos Angeles Auto Show in November to mark the importance of the North American Market. The coupe will be followed by a cabriolet version few months after its launch. Not to mention BMW is also considering a M1 variant as well.Recent Posts:+ Climate of Change - Powe
Almost completely free of disguisingFinally, these shots show the new Coupe of the BMW 1-Series almost completely free of disguising. Engine options for the stylish 1-series Coupe have yet to be confirmed, but BMW officials have said they do not plan to offer a four-cylinder engine in America – although we believe they will be available in European markets. But we are expecting a version of the magnesium/aluminium 3.0-liter six-cylinder that is currently found in the 130i, as well as the 3- and 5-series, Z4 Coupe and Roadster, and X3 and X5. There is also a strong possibility the 3.0-liter turbo-charged six from the 335i coupe and sedan could find its way into an M version of the 1-series Coupe. Among driving enthusiasts, there is strong sentiment that the 3-series Coupe has grown too large and luxurious to be a true sports coupe. Many of them long for a smaller, simpler car with the driving dynamics BMW has become known for. The 1-series Coupe could possibly deliver on that desire,
We reported to you back in January that the BMW 1-Series was on its way to the US in 2008 and that the mini-Bimmer would come in several two-door configurations. After Brenda Priddy and friends caught the 1-Series in an all-out photo shoot in the American Southwest, we're more convinced than ever that the 1-Series will hit US shores, and soon.[Source: Autoblog via Edmunds]Continued- Article, full imageThe 1-Series' price will likely be slotted in between the MINI Cooper and the 3-Series, with some speculation that indicates that the 300 HP, twin-turbo 3.0L may find its way under hood. That kind of power coming packed into a small, RWD vehicle from Bavaria is almost guaranteed to be a fantastic drive. To keep the BMW cachet in the US alive and well, we doubt the normally-aspirated four-cylinder model sold in Europe will come here anytime soon. That is, until BMW develops a new turbo-four.http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/2496
About a month ago, the M Package versions of the 3 Series Coupe debuted in the Brussels Motor Show. Now, thanks to BMW UK we have an official press release and a couple of high res pics featuring the E92 Cabriolet M Sport version. Surprisingly enough, BMW notes that the M Sport versions account for more than 3/4 of all 6cylinder- 3 Series Coupe and Convertible sales. Apart from the M body styling kit, the M Sport pack includes a stiffer suspension set-up, 18'' or 19'' rims, sport seats, brushed aluminum interior trim, a pinched price tag etc. BMW also announced that the 1-Series Limited Sports Edition will be offered in the UK only as a 130i (265Hp 6cylinder 3.0-liter engine) in a limited run of 160 cars.[Source: CARSCOOP via BMW]Follow the jump for one additional image and the official press release.PRESS RELEASE: M SPORT COMES TO THE 3 SERIES COUPE AND CONVERTIBLEThe BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible ranges both have a new flagship model.
