Dog Training Tip's To Help You Deal With Your Dog's Separation Anxiety
A major issue that many dog owners confront is the issue of dog separation anxiety. Let's just quickly examine what separation anxiety means. As people, dogs can get anxious or nervous, therefore separation anxiety is the anxiety that dogs feel when they are left alone. Therefore, one matter that pups actually detest constitutes separation. If it was up to them they'd be along your side at all times. But as much as we would like that they could, unfortunately they can't accompany us everyplace. Puppies that are troubled by separation anxiety have an inclination to chew destructively, soil the home, bark overly, or act out in different manners that are damaging. The conduct that your dog demonstrates as they're left behind its merely the method that puppies handle their anxiousness. Trainin

I added them, then divided the number by the number of bibs I have. The number I came up with is my own Fantasy Boston Bib Number: 2731I went to the Boston Marathon Web Site and found the last few finishers with this Bib number. The Boston finisher with Bib No. 2731 over the last few years has finished in a time ranging from 3:14 to 4:17.I may not be fast, but I've got fast karma.I'm rooting for whomever wears Bib No. 2731 today.Get out your bib numbers. We are reading a book by Lysa Terkeurst called What Happens When Women Say Yes To God.Here are my thoughts:If you are a Christian you have had to say "Yes" to God at some point in your life -- "Yes, I am a sinner and yes, I need your salvation God." But saying "Yes" on a daily or even moment to moment basis is a difficult, even a monumental task. Given everything that God has given us, you might not think it would be so hard, but when I am honest, I have to admit that it is.In chapter 4, "You Never Know How God Will Use You Until You Let Him," Lysa writes, "Only the pursuit of God's righteousness leads us to His best." Laicite versus Separation
The United States has a political philosophy of separation of church and state. The US government (specifically congress) may make "no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". This is from the First Amendment, probably the most important for preserving rights in America, and a personal favorite of mine. This doctrine has been interpreted to mean that the US takes no sides in religious disputes, that it does not legislate something because it is religious (though debate over legislating semi-religious morality is ongoing) and does not ever ever EVER promote a religion of inhibit another. Of course, the US often fails in the these goals, but they are an idea to live up to not a template from which the US will be docked points. Despite ahist

      The Importance of Church-State Separation
Maybe it is a little silly for me to participate in the annual Blog Against Theocracy. After all, this isn't a once-a-year topic for me but one which I address frequently. Still, this does give me an excuse to reflect on the issue of church-state separation and that can't be a bad thing. I'd like to make this contribution more of a personal one by focusing on why I am passionate about preserving the separation of church and state, even widening the gap between them.In taking an honest look at why I am so devoted to church-state separation, I think it is probably accurate to say that I can boil it down to two reasons. First, I am an atheist, and as such, I recognize that I have no safety in a religiously-infused government. I know full well what proponents of American theocracy think of ath

This morning when I brought the twins to preschool, their new classmate of two weeks, Rannon, was crying out loud for Ms Michelle, their form class teacher. He refused to go to his class and insisted on waiting near the door for her. Rannon reminded me of Asher when he just joined 6 months ago, but Asher merely had tears in his eyes and was chokingly telling me that he wanted Ms Lily, then form teacher. Toddlers or young kids tend to look for familiar faces when separated from parents.Actually, Asher occasionly still tears when waving goodbye to me. Separation of Church and State...Brittish Style
When most Americans hear the phrase "separation of church and state," they regard it as a uniquely "American" conundrum waiting to be solved. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Anyone can see by my last post the need for the issue to be raised in Iran. Iran's new buddy, Russia, has witnessed Putin's reunification of the Russian Orthodox Church as an instrument for promoting nationalism. In both cases religion has been used to accommodate a political agenda.Lately eyes turned towards England when Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, made some controversial suggestions towards religious inclusivity. To put it simply, the Archbishop, realizing the devout Muslim population in England is not only growing but there to stay, suggested that elements of Sharia should be adopted to fo

Six Degrees of Separation Down to One?
There is little doubt that at some point in your life, you have been exposed to the theory of Six Degrees of Separation. Six Degrees of Separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one step away from each person he or she knows, and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is no more than six "steps" away from each person on Earth. However, since this theory has been originally hypothesised, the world has changed. We have seen through the advent of world travel, e-mail, the world wide web, satellites, and online communities, that the world is becoming smaller and smaller, as new technology continues to emerge. As a result, I have taken it upon myself to conduct an experiment. One of the most popular online communities, if not the most popular online community, which emerged in 2007, is located at the url named http://www.facebook.com/.As of December 11, 2007, there are approximately 57 million people on Facebook. Subtle Forms of Separation

No only do they say that who/what they really are is Ultimate Reality, but also then add additional things like ‘it only shines through sometimes more clearly than other times.’ We must be keenly aware of what we are saying and its implications, because if you say that That shines through sometimes clearly and sometimes not…what is really being said is that you are the vessel or channel for That, and you subtly separating yourself from That. That which we are is constant…it is never more or less. There also is no shining through…or some derivative of higher or true self. Prince Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davy wants separation
Both Prince Harry and his girlfriend Chelsy Davy has been dating for three years but now she needs some space and ask for separation. Sources say Harry had agreed to the “trial separation”. A friend quoted by Daily Mail said “This is not an over-for-good situation. Chelsy and Harry both love each other very much but Chelsy has had a lot to come to terms with over recent months since moving to the UK and has not found the transition an easy one”. “She kept saying she needed to take some time out to re-establish herself. She still loves him, but she feels she needs to carve an identity as her own person rather than as Prince Harry’s girlfriend. “Over recent weeks she’s been coming down to London and partying with Harry’s friends. They were together at Amika nightclub in Kensington just two weeks ago when Chelsy appeared incredibly down and subdued. “She was not her normal partying self. She had confided it was because she was mi

How To Handle Children During A Separation Or Divorce
By: Nicholl McGuire1. Dont argue in front of them.2. Leave your new mates out of the transition process. For instance, they dont need to be the one who drops them off, walk up to your exs doorstep, or even be seen riding with the new girlfriend or boyfriend in the car. On occasion you may be riding with him or her, but dont make it a habit. Sometimes children just want that time with dad or mom to themselves.3. Answer questions when the children ask. Discuss possible questions they may ask beforehand with the ex so that both of you will be repeating the same story. They may want to know why mommy and daddy are not together a thousand times, answer them a thousand times.4. Tell the truth about your feelings toward your ex, once the child is an adult and initiates the conversation. Dont volunteer information.5. Make the childrens environment pleasant when they come to visit. Clean and comfortable. New bed sheets, cabinets and drawers they can place their toys in, favorite pictures hangin

      Separation Anxiety in Dogs
By Sara Bijnaam The symptoms of separation anxiety are pretty distinctive: your dog will usually learn to tell when you’re about to leave (i.e., keys jingling, putting your shoes on, etc.) and will become anxious. She may follow you from room to room, whining, trembling, and crying. Some dogs even become aggressive, in an attempt to [...]

      Separation Day In Champions League
The continent's big guns were able to create some distance between themselves and the also-rans in their respective Champions League groups, thanks to a matchday where nearly everything went as scripted. The one mini surprise was Rangers scoreless draw to Barcelona at Ibrox. I say "mini" because Barca haven't played very well since the internationals break and were missing Deco for today's game. And it's not like Rangers won the game (that would have qualified as a "real" surprise). Nevertheless, lets give Gers their due: the club suddenly looks right at home amongst the continent's elite and their place in my top 25 is well deserved. The next big test will come when the teams meet again Nov. 7--in Barcelona. In the group's other game, Lyon made quick work of VfB Stuttgart, who are in complete disarray and probably couldn't even beat the New York Red Bulls right about now.The disparity between the continent's elite and its lesser powers was nowhere clearer than at Emirates stad

      Degrees of Separation
A press release posted on the the ‘Islamic Thinkers Society’ website, declares that “InshAllahShaheed” aint no friend of theirs. But..but…but…but..but what about Michael Moss’ NY Times article?? He also befriended members of the Islamic Thinkers Society, a tiny group that promotes radical, nonviolent Islam by leafleting in Times Square and Jackson Heights, Queens. An interesting turn of events indeed. One of y’all is fibbing. Talk amongst yourselves and sort things out will you? Now to be clear, the Moss article does not specifically quote ‘inshallahshaheed’ himself, claiming he was in tight with the ‘Islamic Thinkers Society’. But it had to come from somewhere. Did Moss pull it out of…thin air, or did inshallahshaheed misrepresent himself??. Was he desperate for some real world islamic brotherhood cred? Maybe the ‘Islamic thinkers Society’ is full of crap, that could be a possibility too. I

      Demand drives FTTH drives separation
FTTH and separation are probably the most important trends in telecom right now. They are also linked. I believe demand for bandwidth and nations competing for a larger share of the worldwide GDP pie will drive investments in FTTH networks. Telcos feel the heat and are preparing investors for a large capex round. At the same time, realisation builds that there is value in both networks and

There will be a rally at the Texas State Capitol Building on Saturday, September 8, featuring speakers from American Atheists, The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers, The Freethinkers at the University of Texas as Arlington, and The Freethinkers Association of Central Texas.According to Joe Zamecki, Texas State Director of American Atheists, the goals of the rally include:To speak out for the civil rights of non-religious Americans. To vocally promote the separation of government from religion. To show support for the Croft family in Carrollton who have sued over the moment of silence in their public school. What? No Separation of Mosque and State?
While some American schools rush to ban "Christmas" parties, cross necklesses and Bible clubs, others are going out of their way to allow and even promote Islam. In San Diego, an elementary school added an extra recess for Muslim children to pray. The University of Michigan has gone so far as to provide facilities for Islamic students to wash their feet before prayer--all at taxpayer expense! In California, another school hosts a curriculum called "Becoming a Muslim" as part of world history class. Can you imagine the outcry if any of those things happened with a Christian slant? Can you imagine if Christians were given an extra recess to pray? Or if a public college built a facility for Christian children to conduct a worship service? Or, perhaps most revealing of the double standard, if a public school offered a history class called, "Becoming a Christian"?When the families of the seventh graders who had to take the "Becoming a Muslim" part of their history class sued the school for

When is the Separation of Church and State Ignored?
The simple answer to that question appears to be when the religion is Islam. Some schools appear to be going out of their way to disregard the so-called separation of church and state when in regards to Muslims. Separation of church and state does not appear in the constitution, but that’s an argument for another day. If we are going to live in a country where we acknowledge a seperation of church and state, shouldn’t that mean all churches? Decisions by public schools and colleges to provide special prayer times or to make other allowances for Muslim students have raised eyebrows. In a time when liberal, politically correct groups feel the need to pander to Muslims they are afraid not to give them rights not afforded to other religions. Here’s one example: In one instance, the University of Michigan is preparing to spend $25,000 to install two footbaths at its Dearborn campus to accommodate Muslim students wanting to wash their feet before prayers. Does religious liberty require a separation of church and state?
We have seen how the First Amendment to the Constitution says absolutely nothing about keeping religion out of government. But there are still those (Catholics included) who insist that religious liberty requires an absolute or strict separation of state and church. Is this the teaching of Vatican II? In a word, no. In its Declaration on Religious Freedom (Dignitatis Humanae) Vatican II said:"Since the common welfare of society consists in the entirety of those conditions of social life under which men enjoy the possibility of achieving their own perfection in a certain fullness of measure and also with some relative ease, it chiefly consists in the protection of the rights, and in the performance of the duties, of the human person. Therefore the care of the right to religious freedom devolves upon the whole citizenry, upon social groups, upon government, and upon the Church and other religious communities, in virtue of the duty of all toward the common welfare, and in the manner prope

This separation, so we're told, is enshrined in the First Amendment to the Constitution, and it prohibits the intrusion of religion into the affairs of government. Separation Anxiety
If you have children older than one, for some not even that old, you have probably experienced separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is difficult for the child as well as the parent. Sometimes I think it is harder for the parent than the child. We feel extreme amounts of guilt and we feel as if we are abandoning them. I have seen parents deal with this problem in some very interesting ways. First there is the parent that just can not allow themselves to leave until the child is calm. The problem with this is that every time the parent leaves, the child will begin to cry all over again and the parent will never get out. In essence you have only prolonged the inevitable. Then there is the drop, distract, and run tactic. This is better than the first (from a childcare providers perspective). This is where the parent pretends to be staying with the child, waits until they are distracted, and then makes a beeline for the door. Hoping the child does not see him/her leaving. The problem w

What happened to separation of church and state?
Excuse my ignorance, but I thought that our forefathers built this nation on one sound principal, paving the way for future governing bodies to abide by in order to maintain a sense of balance and unbiased decision making. I thought that separation of church and state was still a known and active governing rule. My bad. It seems that now more than ever, the whole idea of separation of church and state is falling by the wayside. Even on the Democratic side of things, 2008 candidates are being pressed about their religions beliefs. If separation of church and state really mattered, then why would people care if Hillary’s (now portraying herself as a martyr) faith in God got her through her marital strife? They wouldn’t wonder if Barack Obama practiced Muslim or that Mitt Romney was a Mormon. But people do care. Otherwise it wouldn’t be all over the news. At his age now though, I am trying to begin weaning him off it, especially since lately he seems more inclined to look for it, or carry it around with him. Now the big issue is how to actually accomplish the separation itself. I scrounged around and hit up some friends for ideas on what worked for them.
