It took nearly a year for the third album from Cincinnati’s Pearlene to see a wide release, but as of last month, the album, For Western Violence & Brief Sensuality is now available all across the good old US of A. The album is one that I’m sure many locals have been enjoying for some time, but this might be a good reason to re-visit the disc. If you are not familiar with these guys, they play what I feel is bluesy garage rock in the same vein as another Cincy band, The Greenhornes. Here are a couple songs from the album, as well as a link to the WOXY.com live session they did in studio last year. I've been lazy, and a little caught up in NanoWrimo to do a Male on Sunday post, and I spent the bulk of today at Bondi Beach viewing the Sculptures by the Sea Exhibition along with thousands of others. There's nothing more revitalizing than a dose of Sodium Chloride. Then there's the sensuality of one's toes sinking through wet sand, and the cold burst of salt water as it bathes one's feet. The sound of water, each wave lapping against rock that is sculpted by the ages, and the idea of it lulling one to sleep. The topmost "fantasy' or dream that dominates my thoughts is the idea of living by the sea. Now in Sydney, this idea is more of a fantasy due to the price tag especially in regard to Bondi, but other places further north or south are also creeping up price wise but even those aren't enough to end the fantasy.
