One of the great things about homeschooling is that we can teach each of our children in the very best way for that particular child. One of the learning differences that matters most is the child’s preferred sensory modality. That’s a long phrase that means that some children learn better through seeing [...]

Memorization or retention of data operates by loading images, sounds, taste, smell, and sensation (touch) in a very organized and meaningful combination in our brain. There are three types of memory.Sensory Memory is where temporary information is briefly recorded. Images such as a picture in a magazine and the design on your customer’s clothing are momentarily stored in the sensory memory. It w

The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to. It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here. This is covered in great details in Acup

It became so long, I decided to split it in three and they will automatically [...]

Department of Psychiatry, University of São Paulo Medical School, Brazil; Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil; Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut U.S.A. Introduction: A variety of subjective experiences have been reported to be associated with the symptom expression of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette syndrome (TS). First described in TS patients, these subjective experiences have been defined in different ways. There is no consensus in the literature on how to best define subjective experiences. This lack of consensus may hi

Sensory Overload tracks the development of Kinetic and Op art, whose optical stimulation and interactivity introduced new dimensions to art. Stanley Landsman's Walk-In Infinity Chamber (1968), which has not been on view for nearly fifteen years, together with Erwin Redl's dramatic Matrix XV (2007), a 25 x 50 foot LED installation, punctuate this extraordinary immersive experience. Chronological

As we age, our sensory systems gradually lose their sharpness. Because our brain requires a minimal amount of input to remain alert and functioning, sensory loss for older adults puts them at risk for sensory deprivation. Severe sensory impairments, such as in vision or hearing, may result in behavior similar to dementia and [...]
Atlas of the Sensory Organs: Functional and Clinical Anatomy | 1st Edition | András Csillag | Humana Press | February 9, 2005 | 1588294129 | 9781588294128 | 272 pages | List Price: $185.00 Sensory organs constitute an elaborate and demanding chapter of the anatomical curriculum. The structures are confined to a small area, yet have to be discussed to a degree of detail that has no match in human anatomy except for neuroanatomy. Partly owing to tradition and partly because of a real practical significance, there is an unprecedented amount of nomenclature involved in the field of sensory organs, a comprehensive knowledge of which presents a difficult task even for medically qualified people. Given the great clinical importance of the topic, in particular the eye and the ear, the time alloca
Last night we got the chocolates I won from Sucre at Blake Makes last week. So, as promised, here are the pictures....
When we got the box in the mail, and I told Maya it was the chocolates, she got stoked (even though she liked the peanut butter from last week, this was CHOCOLATE!)
Now this box is much bigger in the picture than it really was...Maya was a touch disappointed in the size of the chocolate box...because it came in a much bigger shipping box...filled with styrofoam peanuts....but the box is goregous...
Once we opened the box of chocolates...Maya was not disappointed...
Everyone sat down and had a piece while watching some Disney TV....Maya had to have a piece of dark chocolate...and knowing kids, you knew where this went....
So Maya traded out the dark chocolate for th
Finally - a phone that offers a really unique design instead of just more diamonds. This is a concept phone by Nokia called the Scentsory and it is fascinating. It evokes the human senses of sight, sound, touch and even smell for a multi-sensory experience. If the concept goes into production, this phone could truly revolutionize remote communication and interfacing. The dual-screen mobile has a LED touchpad, speakers, hidden camera and temperature sensors. “In addition to basic audiovisual features, Scentsory is able to detect, transmit and emit smells,” Tuvie explains. “It can also radiate colours, lighting, and temperature from the caller’s environment.” “Using highly sophisticated sensors, the electronic ‘nose’ samples the odour of the caller’s environs an
CHICAGO – Unlike the world, “Southland Tales” starts with a bang but ends with a whimper.Richard Kelly’s opus of a film is little more than sensory overload meant to look like a political statement on the state of privacy, the war, news, entertainment and celebrities.Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Southland Tales”.Photo credit: IMDbThe story is set in the near future after two Texas towns fall victim to nuclear attacks and throw the country into a new world war. The world is falling apart all around the citizens as the government sets up even more agencies to spy on the populace.Kelly has stated that he was inspired by “Pulp Fiction” and “Dr. Strangelove” when he made this film. We can never relax because there is simply so much to see, smell, hear, taste and touch. That is why we need relaxation techniques that take control of our senses and engage them in a soothing way.

I like to stimulate all of the senses so I'm sharing with you a couple things completely unrelated to the taste buds -- check out the Forest Meditation Room at lime. It pleases me. These please me too, and because many of you like to hear about what I'm up to with my niece, I thought I'd show you something I plan to replicate for her enjoyment (okay, I confess -- for mine, too!) Here you will find a recipe of another sort -- for moss graffiti. I live in a brick and stone abode, and plan to use this application in some way. I found Stories From Space had Nature Reserves and Secret Worlds (see the sidebar to the left)I could adapt to entertain Sydney. These little microcosms really grabbed me! More "nonsense"? Maybe to some, but to me they're enchanting and magical!Thank you for the well wishes. I'm much better today. Off to work, but if my voice holds up, I may just do that audio recording as promised, later. These are the “King” of Crab Cakes, because they use very little fill
ESP or extrasensory perception is perception occurring independently of sight, hearing, or other sensory processes. People who have extrasensory perception are said to be psychic. It is commonly called ESP, ESP refers to telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and in recent years, remote viewing and clairaudience. The existence of ESP and other paranormal powers such as telekinesis, are disputed, though systematic experimental research on these subjects, known collectively as psi, has been ongoing for over a century in parapsychology. History of ESPESP is most commonly called the "sixth sense." It can provide the individual with information of the present, past, and future; as it seems to originate in a second, or alternate reality. The term "ESP" was used in 1870 by Sir Richard Burton. A French researcher, Dr. Paul Joire, in 1892 used the term ESP to describe the ability of person who had been hypnotized or were in a trance state to externally sense things without using their ordinary s
Our eyes, ears, and other sensory organs are simply devices that gather signals for our brains to interpret. Our perception of reality is not defined by these input devices, but instead by our brain's interpretation of these signals. Anything that alters the brain's ability to process and interpret these signals also alters our perception of reality (as the 1970's proved). This extends beyond chemical alteration of the mind, though. I am learning that the dreamworld is just as real to your mind as the waking world. The dreamworld is not a shared perception, but your perception of senses is still fully functional--the dreamworld is as real to your mind as anything else you perceive.
A blind or deaf person is considered disabled because they lack one of the five traditional senses most humans and many animals possess. Yet the world is not defined by five senses; sensory experiences are physical sensations created by the brain, not the world. We use our senses to explore the world and interpret it, and the blind man does exactly the same with a different set of senses. Plants, fungi, and microscopic organisms all interact with the world as well. They do not share our senses, but they have their own set of senses specialized for a particular lifestyle and environment. Our sensory and perception of the world is adapted to our particular needs as a species.
Funky and Friday... they go together like bacon and eggs, Laverne and Shirley, stalkers and restraining orders...Another old one here... The Mighty Bop's "La Vague Sensorielle" was one of the very first releases on Bruno Guez's Quango label, from 1995. The Mighty Bop is actually one of the many pseudonyms of that Frenchy pretty boy Bob Sinclar, which is actually a pseudonym, too. (Dude's real name is Christophe Le Friant, if you care... but how weird is that, having a pseudonym that is in itself a normal name? Like if I decided to put out something under the name, I dunno, Greg Johnson or something? WTF?). Anyhoo, this album found Bobby, as his friends call him, collaborating with DJ Cam and Le Funk Mob, so it was kind of a French hip-hop supagroop! Sample-heavy stuff, as the downtempo of the day tended to be...The Mighty Bop - Le VoyageBuy It!Is it just me, or is that sampled guitar line the same one Gang Starr used in "Manifest", just pitched differently? You tell me...Gang
