One day former President Jimmy Carter wrote a book. It was a book about Palestine and the entire process of peace in that region of the Middle East. In the book he makes some claims about the peace process in the Israeli-Palestine conflict that are highly critical of Israel’s role in stalling the peace process. He also has indicated in interviews that he felt high level and prominent American Jews were impeding the process by halting any criticism of Israel as being anti-Semitic. Fortunately the American Jews took the moral high ground against Carter’s claims by lashing out at his criticism of Israel and labeled his comments anti-Semitic.
In a further display of how exactly right Carter appears to be in this criticism, 14 Jewish members of the Carter Center Board of Trustees resigned en masse in protest over the comments and Carter’s new book Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid.
