Muslim bloggers express disgust over Palestinian celebrations of seminary shooting
Do celebrations like this one help the Palestinian cause?A number of Muslim bloggers have expressed their disgust over the unseemly street celebrations by Palestinians for the murders of eight young Jewish students at an Israeli seminary in Jerusalem. Abdur-Rahman Muhammad and Tariq Nelson, both Muslim bloggers based in Washington, D.C., see nothing heroic in the attack or anything honorable about these public displays of hatred. The comments sections, however, are much more interesting as many Muslims express sharply opposing views on the attack and the celebrations. Many rightfully complain of the lack of attention to Palestinian deaths, but seem to think that media neglect and Israeli attacks justify the shootings or excuse the celebrations. Then there are a fair number of other Musl

In Palestine, Murder Will Bring Neither Freedom Nor Justice | Muslims and Jews denounce seminary killing
mindless violence continues. skewed media report continues. endless killing of civilians continue. the victims at the Seminary was aged 15 to 26. all people of conscience condemns such act of violence.1.Ibrahim Abdil-Mu’id Ramey, Muslim American Society (MAS) Freedom Civil and Human Rights Director writes: On March 6, 2008, the world received news of yet another tragedy in the ongoing conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis. In an apparent act of revenge, armed Palestinians infiltrated a Rabbinical school in Jerusalem and attacked a group of teenage Jewish students, leaving eight of them dead. They were not combatants, and the act did not take place in self-defense or in the heat of combat. Most of the world, especially in Israel, was stunned and horrified by the killings. But in G

About the Jewish Seminary school shooting
I did not write anything about it yesterday because I did not have enough information , but today it is more clearer to me. To be honest I was surprised to know that the Hezbollah's channel Al Manar declared that the Militia of Emad Mughniyeh is responsible for the shooting . The surprise came from the fact that the Jewish Seminary school is in the west Bank of Jerusalem, if Hezbollah was behind that operation then it reached to the heart of Israel. To be honest I do not like nor welcome this sort of operations that targets religious civilians people even if they were radical Jews who want to kill all Muslims and blow up our holy mosques to the build their temple , it is prohibited in Islam to kill a religious holyman , also this sort of operation will give the Zionist media in the world

      Seminary Life
Welcome to Conversations with Bob. More embarrassing details about our life and faith! We moved to Princeton, New Jersey in the fall of 1989. I enrolled at Princeton Theological Seminary. The previous year my brother was involved in a serious motor cycle accident. You need to know that my brother has always been and still is my hero. It was difficult for me to see him in the hospital. The doctors said he wouldn't make it. He had a serious head injury. I saw him probably the day after the accident and he was non-responsive. I took his hand, let him know I was there, and I still swear today that he squeezed my fingers. I told the nurse that he was going to be OK. She asked me how I knew and I said that I just knew.It took him a year of recovery. He couldn't remember one day to the next for months. But he is one tough son of a gun. My mother and others prayed for him daily, and I have to affirm that prayer (the energy of love) does good. He of course received excellent m

      Theological seminary under fire
The Cincinnati Post reports:Asbury Theological Seminary faces a budget shortfall and an investigation by its accrediting agency, adding to the school's problems since the departure of its president last year. The interdenominational seminary, which has more than 1,600 students, is projecting a deficit of more than $2 million for this fiscal year. Jim Smith, chairman of Asbury's board of trustees, said a surplus from last year could help reduce the shortfall to about $500,000 by year's end.Asbury also is under scrutiny by its accrediting organization, the Association of Theological Schools, because of a student complaint filed last December over the departure of former Asbury President Jeffrey Greenway. He resigned in October after being placed on paid leave by the school's board of trustees on Sept. 1."This is kind of a correction period," Smith said. "It is not a crisis. The seminary is not about to close or go through major problems."Asbury is particularly important in Methodist c

Future Graduates of Princeton Theological Seminary: You'd hire these guys, right?
(My friend Don...as Burt...!!! Photo taken by Joshua Cleveland) There are days that I miss Princeton more than others. It's been good to do a year away, and I'm really looking forward to going back next year. Today is one of those days when I really remember why Princeton Theological Seminary is so special. Today at Princeton was Burt Reynolds Day. Guys on campus (including some faculty & staff) spend the fall growing out their facial hair and on one day in December, shave off everything except (normally) a mustache (although I see some really creative stuff in the photos). Girls are normally not a huge fan of the lead-up to the process - especially if you're dating one of those guys who really only has some nice pre-pubescent peach fuzz (no offense...that's me too!). Anyway, enjoy my buddy Josh's photos here.

Pete Rollins is continuing on his US Speaking Tour and coming to Princeton Theological Seminary this week. There will be a number of times to be able to listen to him speak and dialogue with him. Wed, Nov 29th: Pub Conversation at Charlie Brown's on Rt 1 @ 8pm with the Princeton Emergent Cohort Thurs, Nov 30th: Informal Lunch Conversation in PTS Dining Hall Thurs, Nov 30th: Lecture and Q&A Session in Stuart Hall from 7-9pm Fri, Dec 1st: Pete will be speaking to Dr. Stacy Johnson's The Reign of God class at 1.30pm As I've mentioned before, Pete's book "How (Not) to Speak of God" is brilliant and probably the most important book for the emerging church put out yet. His combination of theological and philosophical discourse, combined with practical examples of how such a deeply mystical theology gets worked out....it's just great. If you are in the Princeton area - I strongly urge you to take advantage of getting the chance to hear Pete speak. From just hearing him at AAR/S

Southwestern Baptist Seminary Bans "Private Prayer Language"
Check out this article and see how it hits you. Honestly, at first I was a little put out. I couldn't believe how narrow-minded these people must be to not allow speaking in tongues at their college. Then I thought about it - this is a seminary. This is where they're training people in the basics of Baptist doctrine. And if speaking in tongues isn't considered a cornerstone of Baptist doctrine, they probably shouldn't promote it at the school. But doesn't it seem just a little harsh to completely ban the practice? The original controversy stemmed from a sermon delivered by one of their trustees, and the original phrase he used was "private prayer language". Maybe they could've found a middle ground (like the U.S. military, for example) and had a don't ask don't tell policy. Let what goes on in private stay private. I will say that I do have a lot of respect for SBTC in that they are attempting to do something that is becoming more and more foreign in Christian circ
