      Planning Yet Another Semester
Planning for school is not my favorite thing to do. The system they use for signing up for classes is slow and not really efficient. The required courses for Piedmont and UVa may or may not line up, requiring that one finds a counselor with an open slot (not usually an easy job). There very few sections of each class, not allowing for much wiggle room when you're trying to set up your schedule.

      SEMESTER!

This semester, I'll again be teaching my class on Online Social Networks. If you're interested in checking out the (revised) syllabus, you can download a copy here (pdf). This semester, I'm looking forward to travel to SF twice. At the end of this month, I'll be attending Social Graph Foo Camp, and in March I'll be visiting with David Silver to talk social networks, identity and new literacies. I'm really excited about both of these trips. I'll also be in Los Angeles to attend the iConference, which looks like a fun and exceptionally busy time. More information about all these events as they get closer to the date.

      Start of the semester
My new semester has just started a few days back. I did my International Financial Management course today and it seemed quite interesting but also scary. All those call and put options will require quite some time for me to understand. Another finance related course that I picked for this semester is Investment Theory. I am really looking forward to this course as I have recently started to invest in the Stock Market. I hope to get some good tips during the course which will help me reap some $$$. Other than these two I have two other courses, Applied Mathematics-II and Special Topics in Economics (the special topic being Globalization). The course instructor for this course on Globalization is one of the former students of Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize winner in economics. If my predi

      A New Semester
This semester started off with a bang...of excitement. And not the kind the gets you in trouble. For the first 30 minutes of math class, I was thoroughly bored. My teacher explained everything on the syllabus much more thoroughly than any other teacher I've ever had (to the point of excessive explanation). At the same time, there were things that people had to ask questions about because he'd skipped them. At any rate, it seems like it will be a good class, though like I told Tony last night, I'm really bad at telling until about halfway through the semester. My economics class on the other hand is going to be terrific. My teacher strongly encourages (even nearly forces) class involvement. I'm quiet in my classes, but when a teacher asks me something (or to do something), I'll answ

Maybe it is a dream! Maybe all this is a dream! I guess I'll never know. This is actually the semester all engineering students reap the rewards of their struggles, all of us are infused with a fair amount of arrogance and contempt for the system we feared and tried to conform to for all these years. I'm gonna have to cut this post short, all this free time has got me thinking! (Believe it!) I've actually come up with innovative ways to waste my time and the time has come for me to put one of my many

      End of Semester
Well, the year is just about half over and its been interesting. I started the year off by getting to school early for Orientation Assistant. That was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of freshman, and have made long-term friendships with a lot of those. Then came the start of classes. I had a great schedule filled with fun and interesting teachers. Then came the start of basketball. Basketball has been great, except the fact that we have lost three straight, but I have a good feeling about Saturday against Eckerd. I have a personal rivalry against Eckerd, becuase my brother went there and before I visited the Lynn campus, I was pretty sure I was going to Eckerd. This past weekend I was in Valdosta, Georgia for basketball and it reminded me of Arkansas. The leaves were the orange, yellow, and brown you see in the fall and everybody was so nice. The only downside was we lost both games. On the day after Thanksgiving, Arkansas beat LSU in football. I was so happy, since this was the firs

      Schedule for 2nd Semester
So today I met with my advisor, Professor Curtis, to schedule my classes for next semester. I have a great schedule. On Monday’s my first class is from 10-10:50 A.M. This is the classroom section of my internship. From 11-11:50, I have Fundamentals of Communications. On Tuesday and Thursday, I have Sports and Recreation Facilities from 8-915 A.M., Then Accounting from 9:30-10:45 A.M., then Organization Management in Amateur and Intercollegiate Sports from 11-12:15. My two sports classes are with Professor Curtis, who is a great teacher and makes things relate to what the students watch. Basketball practice will be later in the afternoon so I’ll have the early afternoon to relax or get stuff done. Next semester will also be more fun in basketball because we will be playing games every week and then we will go to the post-season, which I hope we will go very far in.  Have a great day and see you on Thursday at 7 pm!!

Another of my poems came out in Tipton Poetry Journal, and when I pulled the issue from my mailbox, the feel of paper and the smell of ink pushed me toward fall. This season is like New Year's for me; I'm always tempted to make resolutions. So summer's officially over and today is the first day of school. Pooja Makhijani has a new children's book out, Mama's Saris, which tells the story of a little girl who loves to dress like her mother. 1. Theological Method2. Hebrew Exegetical Method3. Baptist Heritage4. The Christian Home5. Applied MinistryMy week and a half of summer has now ended. The beginning of a new semester is here.I usually tend to think of the semester as an epoch through which I hurtle inexorably towards the academic eschaton otherwise known as Finals week. My goal at the beginning of each semester is to "persevere to the end" and to have my grade point average be found faithful. Though I will probably never be able to shake this conceptual and structural tendency, I have recently felt the need for me to broaden my conceptual framework. There is coming a day when the "kingdom of the world" will become "the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ" (Rev 11:15). On this day, the one to whom it belongs will begin his eternal reign. As one who is in Christ, that "day" for me is precious and entails my salvation, because the conquering king who will crush the head of his enemies is also my redeemer. It is in eager a

      Semester Break
Noah's Soccer Camp 2007We traditionally take a small break in between the fun of the Kindermusik Adventure camps in the summer and the excitement of the beginning of our Fall semester (which runs through the end of January). This is our chance to practice and prepare for the new themes of the Fall classes. And, of course, it is also our chance to spend lots of quality time with our own families (even though we miss our dedicated Kindermusik families!!). Combined, the four educators here at Kindermusik by Sarah Flack have 8 children--enough for a Kindermusik class with just our own children!Noah has been enjoying the break. He had a great time at his very first sports camp last week--a soccer camp at TAMIU. He already been planning picnics and playdates for the rest of the month so we might not be getting much rest.
