This is a self portrait that I worked on when I got bored of working on my real design homework. I based it off of a picture that my brother took of me in Vegas. I thought that it turned out pretty well.

During her rocky two year relationship with Pete Doherty, Moss created what is thought to be her artistic debut - a self-portrait in lipstick and blood. I wonder what makes famous people think they can be artists. Crap is still crap even if you are a famous super model. I am sure somebody will buy [...]

A digital painting is like a regular painting only preformed in Adobe Photoshop. You color in every nook and cranny with different sizes and colors of digital paintbrushes and pencils. It’s different then just editing an existing photo using tools because [...]

Swedish artist Erik Nordenankar claims his self portrait drawing is the world's biggest drawing. It was done using a GPS device stuffed inside a briefcase which he sent around the globe via DHL, with exact co-ordinates to draw the figure. When the package returned after 55-day journey around the world, he downloaded the GPS's route to produce the gigantic drawing which is composed of a single 110
Jackie Kashian may just be every fan boy’s dream girl. She’s funny, hot, and awesome, she likes science fiction, video games, comic books, TV and she would probably go with you to see Blue Oyster Cult. She may even play Dungeons and Dragons with your broke ass in your parent’s basement, but probably not. You, [...]

4"X6" Oil on panel
It has been many years since I have attempted a self-portrait and the intervening years have not been kind. The result is both more and less hideous than the reality and even more humbling than this daily painting exercise is wont to be anyway. Is my face really that long? Probably not, although long and narrow has always been one of its defining characteristics. Nonetheless, I need to do more portraits and life studies and the self-portrait is the time-honoured method for honing that skill. I used a small make-up mirror, I was tempted to use the other side which would have given me a more abstract and even less recognizable picture, I may try that another time. I think I am going to try to do a self portrait every week or so in various different media.

This was taken underground in a old tunnel built with convict bricks. For the shot I set the camera to bulb mode as I was unsure how long the exposure would actually be and this allowed me to not rush things. Once the camera was firing I would take a seat then shine the torch [...]
I'm not sure what got into me but late one day last week as the light was fading, I grabbed a small mirror, propped it up on the window sill and put a number 2 pencil to work. My real face is actually a bit longer but I like the drawing, so here it is!
A self portrait in collage. It's challenging fun to create with cutting and tearing of various types of paper and layering. This is 12x16" on a pintura painting panel base painted with burnt sienna acrylic on rough watercolor paper. I used paper I have collected and found; didn't buy anything new for this project since lately I am concentrating on recycled art and craft projects. (not for sale)Thanks for looking at my work!

The Mona Lisa is more than a simple work of art. The rumors, mysteries, and intrigue that have clouded it since it was first painted have made into an icon of sorts. Whatever his true intentions were when he painted it, there are hundreds of legends for Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, meaning scholars will [...]
Another shot of the Plush Team group project Originally uploaded by chicken widget. Here's my effort for the very first Etsy Plush Team group project. This was something new for me- a self portrait in plush! I've done them before, in paint, pencil, photographs...but never fabric. I'm pleased with the result, but also a little embarrassed...it feels like I'm exposed!Plush Team group project: Self Portrait - back detail Originally uploaded by chicken widget. This seems a lot more personal than any other self portrait I've ever done. Perhaps because it's not literal, but instead just random bits of the inside of my head. As a result, I've totally neglected putting any explanation into this. And I think it's going to stay that way. So, here it is. The kids were doing all sorts of crazy things tonight - somersaults and headstands and flips off the couch, hiding inside the toybox and pretending to take a bath in it, and climbing all over me. I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures of them being cute, and this self portrait came out surprisingly good, I thought! I wish Pablo would have jumped into the frame, but oh well.
click image to enlargeThe original self portrait was done by Pablo in conte crayon in 1907. In this interpretation in watermedia, we see the Master himself wearing a white shirt, olive sport jacket, with a jeweled Picasso bug on his lapel. A sure sign he's got a hot date. Well, it’s Sunday again. How come Sundays come and go so fast? I’m taking a very easy day today. Surfing the web, watching some TV. I was sick Friday and so I want to get better, so today is a good rest day.
I got my hair done yesterday. See the purple? I love purple. Maybe I’m too old to have fun with my hair, but I don’t care. I was too stupid to do fun things for myself when I was younger, and so I’m doing it now.
I had a big breakfast, and I’m hungry already. No appetite, but I’m hungry anyway, guess I should go eat something since it’s almost lunch time.
As you can see I ve been making a lot of changes to my blog so updates have been slow. I ve got to get my cute little shopping carts and everything to make purchasing things easier. In the meantime I ll post a few of my older paintings. I did this while I was living in Arizona in 2001.

This is from an photo, taken by one of my brothers in Santa Barbara many years ago. I've sketched it a few times, and always meant to use it as reference for a watercolor, but I started with a monotype instead. Maybe I'll paint it this winter... Window Seat 4 x 5 Monotype & WatercolorSold
"A portrait is a painting with something wrong with the mouth." John Singer SargentThis also applies to self-portraits - and here's #3 in my contribution to the self-portrait-marathon.I think I've given up on the jigsaw idea as it's just so difficult actually finding an angle at which to draw that has decent light.I again took off my glasses and I cannot tell you how grateful I am for having learned that this can be a good thing to do. As before I lost detail on the face and couldn't see what I was doing at all on the paper and just had to work on the basis of tonal shapes as I couldn't see individual lines. I'm really quite pleased with this in terms of the use of hatching and the relative accuracy while being very loosely done. There is, of course something wrong with the mouth - and in the end I decided that I could live with that being on view to however many of you there are today (it was over 200 the other day!!!). Readers - you need to understand that in real life I
I have never done a self portrait before, but I decided to brave it and see how it goes. 3 colors are all I used for this painting: permanent alizarin crimson, french ultramarine blue and yellow ochre all W&N Artist paints. It is a small 10"x7" on W&N cold pressed Paper. I used a strange technique painting this. I placed the paint and blotted it off constantly throughout the process. I was careful not to lift any paint that had dried before, but I wanted a light effect throughout and a purple tinge to the whole painting. I think I succeeded. Don't really like the eyes too much, they came out too harsh, but I will live with it.
