SHAH ALAM: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo yesterday told two state government departments to buck up or face the consequences. Presenting them with a broom each for their poor performance at the Selangor Tax Collection Special Award 2006 function here, he said they did not meet the target of 90 per cent current year and 70 per cent arrears collection for 2006.The brooms were given to the representatives of the two departments in conjunction with the Quality Month 2007 of the state government.Last year, the Hulu Selangor district and land office managed to collect only 55 per cent of current taxes and 56 per cent of arrears while the Hulu Selangor District Council posted 66.9 per cent and 23.4 per cent, respectively.However, their performance improved after an announcement was made that the award presentation would take place, Dr Khir said.
