Marketing Practice Reader Krishnan asks this question :"Is Indian automobile market (car) driven by family ? Is family influence more when someone buys a small car or a sedan ?"The answer to the first question is both Yes & No. The major segment in the Indian car market is driven by family. This is because of the current state of Indian automobile market. The market is still evolving .During the initial stages , every market will be unsegmented . But as the market matures, segments evolve. Marketers devise new methods /variables to segment the market. In the car market also, we had the market dominated by the family segment. The first attempt to segment was by Tata Sierra which tried to bring in the SUV segment. But the market was not ready to accept that product.Indian car market i

I'm not going to write a long post about the recent geo segmentation at PayPerPost. Enough said and I believe the points mentioned are clear enough to alert CEO Ted and the team. But honestly, if I am an advertiser, I would like to spread my business 'GLOBALLY', not just to U.S. C'mon, guys, this is the 21st century where the internet makes all things BORDERLESS. Moreover, take a look around, corporate outsourcing is going to India and majority of manufacturing is moving to China. What's going on?5xmom wrote a damn good post - forgive my language. I seldom make a strong point like this but this time, I'm pissed. Well, I am only thankful that Sponsored Reviews, Review Me and some other up and coming paid blogging networks are not moving in this geo segmentation direction. What are your thoughts on this?
There has been a lot of discussion lately on the boards about geographical segmentation. It seems everyone has an opinion on many opps being limited to US only bloggers only, or about bloggers for whom English is a second language not doing a very good job on opps, or about substandard English being substandard English no matter what, and that there are plenty of bloggers in English speaking countries whose grasp of the English language can be a bit...tenuous.Whatever your views may be, I think we can all agree that no blogger from North or South Dakota should ever be allowed to take opps. I mean, what's the story with those guys? Are they even part of the US anymore?Even here in Florida there is a marked difference in the quality of blogs and bloggers. For instance, if you run across a blog based in Florida in which you see posts with a lot of spelling and grammatical errors, you can be pretty sure that the author is a Florida State grad. That last sentence is

ISBN-0750659815Nothing in business works unless markets are correctly defined, mapped, quantified and segmented. Why else have hundreds of billions of dollars been wasted on excellent initiatives such as TQM, BPR, Balanced Scorecards, Six Sigma, Knowledge Management, Innovation, Relationship Marketing and, latterly, CRM? The answer, of course, is because of a lack of a structured
Identifying the target of an event is of utmost importance for a successful and smooth event. Having clear targets helps in choosing correct strategy, promotion, price and place.
In order to select our target we firstly need to segment our market. Segmentation is one of the least understood marketing techniques.
A market could be segmented on the basis of
Yesterday I went to the Super Market because I badly needed eggs.I bought:1) Eight geranium plants because they were in special offer and the RIGHT color for my balcony2) Five bars of chocolate because it was a long time I didn't please myself, I guess since I bought a "non friendly" electronic scale.3) An Easter colomba because it was one third of the original price and it is good to have a slice (or two) for Breakfast.4) Four frozen pizzas because a pizza is what comes at your rescue when you do not have the palest idea what to cook...Needless to say I came home without eggs, because I completely forgot about them.I will have to go to the Super Market again tomorrow (may be they have other good special offers)That is why I do not think that segmentation is such a great idea.(besides the fact that I have less opportunities)Think and you'll have the problem of disposal of ideas...

I thought that would get your attention ;) I am pleased to announce that we have made some changes to the segmentation structure for advertisers. This change won't effect most of you, but will effect some of you with higher ranking blogs that were just out of reach of the biggest paying Opps. We have decided to do away with the top rung of segmentation for PR and Alexa scores. We have combined that rung with the next lowest rung to more accurately reflect the scores in our system and in the blogosphere in general. Very few blogs reach PR 7 and even less have an Alexa score of less than 2,500 (including our own blog as one user pointed out!).This change reflects the data we have collected along with advertiser and blogger feedback. This should mean more Opps for higher ranking bloggers and a higher fill rate for Advertisers.

PayPerPost is a blog for money company that pays bloggers to post about different opportunities on their blog and in return will get paid. Companies provide PayPerPost with opportunities and list how much they will pay for each post, and then PayPerPost creates a list of opportunities that bloggers can choose from. This program is very simple and is excellent for bloggers who want to make a little extra money. Also, you do not have to have a blog with high traffic to make money, so do not think that your blog can’t make money because you don’t receive a lot of hits.
Now PayPerPost has a new segmentation system that awards bloggers who have high traffic blogs. This opportunity could earn bloggers $1000 for a single sponsored post. Also, unlike other programs that pay you to review and post about opportunities, PayPerPost only charges a 35% service fee, whereas ReviewMe charges a 100% markup, which means ReviewMe is taking half of your money for each post. So if

I don't think it is fair to say we are catering to "elite high profile bloggers". We have always had the ability for advertisers to make their opportunities available to all bloggers. Some of those advertisers have the mindset that they would like to have as many people blog about them as possible. The theory there is that you can engage a small army of bloggers with lower traffic blogs to get greater results than posting on a handful of blogs with higher levels of traffic.
Other advertisers believe that getting exposure on one big blog is worth exposure on hundreds of smaller blogs. There is no right answer here. It depends on the product and the bloggers that pick it up. The PayPerPost marketplace provides the flexibility to create a campaign from either angle.
You can see that from the Opps that PayPerPost creates that we believe there is value in
Market segmentation represents an effort to increase a company’s targeting precision. It can be carried out at four levels: segments, niches, local areas, and individuals. Before we discuss these levels, however, we need to say a word about mass marketing.
MASS MARKETING. In mass marketing, the seller engages in the mass production, mass distribution, and mass [...]

We are pleased to announce that segmentation is here! Advertisers can now select which bloggers qualify for their opportunity based on a number of criteria. Below is a sample of the interface in the system.
Recently PayPerPost has introduced a new segmentation system and a whole bunch of new stuff. In that segmentation system, advertisers can specify the type of bloggers or blog sites that they want. Advertisers can also select high traffic or highly rated sites, based on 3 measures:Google Page Rank (PR) - rated from 0 to 10. For example: this site has a PR 2, Suzette has a PR4. Higher is better.Alexa Score - this is like a ranking system, smaller is better.Blogger's tack rating - PPP posties are given a tack rating of 0 to 5. Higher is better. It is rated based on the quality of posts written. To me, blogger's tack rating is like a reward for our effort spent in writing good posts. Some bloggers simply write some stuff and add the required links. It would be unfair to be grouped and rewarded the same as these bloggers! I'm very happy about this rating!Of course, if an advertiser selects a specific 'difficult' or 'niche' segment, they will have to pay accordingly. For example, if a b
