The Board of Investment (BoI) today will consider eco-car projects proposed by the Japanese automotive giants Suzuki Motors Corporation and Nissan, according to a senior BoI official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Suzuki has proposed spending 9.5 billion baht to build a new plant in Rayong province for eco-cars with completely knocked-down (CKD) kit parts. It will have an annual capacity of 138,000 units and begin operations in 2010.
Nissan would invest 5.5 billion baht through subsidiary Siam Nissan Automobile to build more facilities and equipment for eco-car production at its assembly plant in Samut Prakan, as well as a CKD production unit. The plant, which would open in 2010, would have an annual capacity of 120,000 units.

I caught Lidia Bastianich on the Today Show this morning with Hoda Kotb. Apparently, "as we all know", they're hosting a wedding tomorrow. Well, actually, no, I didn't know, but Lidia was there to demonstrate an easy dish for a rehearsal dinner. Well...my first piece of advice would be...GO OUT TO DINNER! Who the heck needs to be cooking the night before a wedding? But this DID look like a lovely dish, for ANY time really. We also made a short 60 mile trip from Denver for a return trip to Rocky
Mountain National Park. The main road through the park had just opened
up a couple of weeks before. Later, we took in a Denver Rockies baseball
game at Coors stadium and saw Ken Griffey Jr (Reds) hit a home run.
Watching modern public media is a gamble. If you watch CNN, be prepared for the Communist Manifesto without the Marxist charm. If you are watching MSNBC prepare to be called racist and if you watch FOX News…well, you’re an idiot. Choosing an outlet that isn’t bias or controlled by major political contributions or the men who’ve made them is harder than most people realize.One of the many problems with modern media is the filter that determines what makes it to the air and what doesn’t. As Dan Rather has stated, hard news takes a backseat now in the mainstream and soft/entertainment news takes the front seat. This is exactly why I stopped watching televised news for anything but entertainment purposes (which I still avoid 99% of the time).Local news is somewhat less whitewashed but gives you a very limited scope of the world. They showed a glimpse of the trip Simon and Ryan made to Africa. It was completely eye opening and heartbreaking to see some of the footage they had. It’s devestating to watch the things that are happening across the world. There was garbage covering the entire ground, and children with no parents. I think they are doing an amazing job of introducing people to help, and will be a great encouragement to people across the world. Ryan also announced that Newscorp will donate 10 cents for every vote, but only as long as Americans reach 50 million votes. I really hope they can achieve that goal.
