2002 Chrysler Sebring CoupeStylish, fun to drive, and affordable. By Bob PlunkettOverview Chrysler's Sebring coupe combines style, practicality, and sporty driving dynamics at an affordable price. The Sebring is a stylish sports coupe, yet there's enough genuine legroom in the back seats for two adults. This is a lot of sports coupe for $20,000, and a V6 engine is available for increased

      Relaxing at Sebring
Let's see .... Friday arrived at around 5:30 - then I stayed up until around 5:30A - Although I brought some extra stuff to work on, I am primarily working on Christmas Package Tags for a swap I'm in.  Saturday morning we went to the Diner for breakfast, a quick trip to the local scrapbooking store, then back to the Kennilworth for a class at 10:30A (I was late).  I did finish the class project although it took me a total of about 5 hours to complete.  I love it though.  I have enough of the letters to make several more projects - I think the first one I'm going to do will spell out CATS.  That would be four panels and I have four cats - so that would be perfect. I'm spending a lot of time on the porch of the Kennilworth in the rocking chairs, just catching up with the girls.  The pic at left is what the chairs look like at the beginning of the day, but by the end they're pulled into a gossip circle. I do have to say that Sebring and the Kennilwo

      2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible cars
Chrysler showed off its 2008 Sebring convertible in L.A., joining the folding hardtop parade but adding its own interesting twist. The car will be available with a choice of three tops: folding hardtop, cloth, and vinyl. All three tops will actually use the same stowing mechanism; instead of engineering a traditional soft top in addition to the hardtop, the supplier of the top, Karmann, simply skins the same three-piece frame as the hardtop uses in cloth or vinyl for those tops. So instead of saving trunk space with a more compact folding soft top, all three tops take equal-sized bites of the trunk space. Like all folding hardtops, it is a big bite, but Chrysler is quite proud that the Sebring can still stow two golf bags with the top folded away. The vinyl top comes only in black, while cloth tops can be had in three colors and the hardtop is available in all eight body colors. Vinyl, cloth, and hardtops all come with glass rear windows; all are one-touch open, with no manual latches o

50th Anniversary of Corvette SS at Sebring
Today is the 50th anniversary of the running of the fabled 1957 Corvette SS at the 12 hours of Sebring.  The Corvette SS nameplate has been hot of late due to leaks that the name will be revived for the vehicle nicknamed the Corvette Blue Devil for the last two years or so.The original Corvette SS was born from a design by Arkus-Duntov, who used the tubular space frame of the Mercedes 300SL as his template. In the meantime, Harley Earl’s design studio, again using the D-Type Jag for inspiration, began with the body.  The original fiberglass prototype was dubbed the XP-64. The letters stood for Experimental Pursuit, which the aircraft-loving Earl borrowed from planes that were in the early testing stages. A second car, however, featured a considerably lighter magnesium body that housed a 283 cubic-inch fuel-injected V8 that made 307 horsepower at 6,400 r.p.m. The finished product left spectators wide-eyed and slack-jawed when it first appeared at the 12 H

Was it just good hard racing or not in the GT2 battle at the 12 hours of Sebring?
With another 12 hours of Sebring in the books, as I look back at this race, its was no surprise to see Audi continue its winning ways in picking up its 8th straight victory after first making history last year with winning the 12 hour race and becoming the first diesel car in the world to win a major sports car race.In the P2 class, Andretti-Green Racing in Acura's debut won the class and the Chevrolet Corvette continue there winning ways in picking up a 1-2 victory in the Gt1 class. But the big story of the race that over shadowed everything else was the battle in the GT2 class. This battle got physical on the backstrenght when they started banging fenders, but the real hits would come coming off the final corner with the Porsche on the outside and the Ferrari coming back on the inside hitting the Porsche and trying to squeezing the Porsche into the wall, the Porsche had to lift giving the Ferrari the victory. After the race, the officials said "It was just good hard racing".It was di

Chrysler Sebring Convertible priced from $25,740
Chrysler has released pricing information on the soft-top version of the new Sebring convertible, and prices have actually dropped from last year's model. You can get a four-cylinder model for $25,470, which is about $700 less than the outgoing model. Add a V6 engine and the price comes to $28,070 and when you tick the boxes for 18-inch wheels and a premium sound system, the price gets a bit high at $31,670. While we like the price of entry for the new convertible, we got a bit worried when there was no mention of the 3.5L V6 model, equipped with the hard-top option. A $35k+ Sebring of any kind would be a very hard pill to swallow.[Source: Autoblog via Kicking Tires]Continued- ArticleThe last-generation Chrysler Sebring may have been described by many as "lame," but when you took off the roof, you had a convertible that was mildly attractive and relatively affordable. The new Sebring, although questionably styled, is likely better than the outgoing model, but again, the all-new conver

No Surprise: Corvette CR.6 Takes First and Second at Sebring
It was a battle between the Velocity Yellow No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R and the newly introduced Arctic White No. 3, but the traditionally colored yellow vehicle took first place.  The competition from Aston Martin, with their DBR9, was more like a skirmish as it completed ten laps fewer by the end of the twelve hours. Part of the story Saturday was the surprise reveal of the Arctic White No. 3, painted to match the showroom targeted Ron Fellows Special Edition Z06s about to hit dealers across the country.  (Our dealership is due to get ours the first week of April.) Oliver Gavin, of the winning car's team, stated "The Corvette C6.R was a joy to drive all day, and there wasn't a single thing that went wrong.  The team performed fantastically, and there wasn't one misstep on any of the pit stops."Olivier Beretta and Max Papis also piloted the winning Vette.  Johnny O'Connell, Ron Fellows, and Jan Magnussen turned in a second p

Rumor Mill: New DSG Paddle Shift on… Sebring Diesel
Prowler-mania, Demonology; what's up with Chrysler's automotive tastes these days? What Car (indeed) reports that the foul Chrysler Sebring diesel (and we're not talking about emissions here) may be the first Chrysler product blessed with a Dual-Sequential Gearbox (DSG). As DSG is Borg Warner's name for Volkswagen's sublime paddle shifter, the magazine is hedging its bets regarding sourcing: "It is not yet clear if the dual-clutch transmission is Chrysler's own, if it has been developed with former sister company Mercedes, or if it is from another manufacturer - the Sebring's 2.0-litre diesel engine is already sourced from Volkswagen." And while they're at it, What Car says the gearbox might spread to other Chrysler products. Funny thing is, I can't think of a single Chrysler product that really deserves needs it... Viper? Do they still make that?

Chinese Set to Sample the Delights of Chrysler’s Sebring
Chrysler is sending the Sebring to China. The Auto Channel tells us they're going to inflict launch the critically panned midsize on the Chinese market in October, where it'll do battle against Camry, Accord and the new Ford Mondeo. The rental car companies needn't worry, though; they won't stop producing them here. They'll be building them in Beijing along side the 300C currently in production under a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. You could say that sending the Sebring to China is fitting retaliation for the tainted dog food and lead-painted baby toys sent here, but I couldn't possibly comment.

2008 Pontiac G6 GT Hardtop Covertible vs. 2008 Chrysler Sebring Limited Hardtop Convertible
Spring: the season of love, flowers and convertibles. As warmer weather approaches, car dealers put away the 4x4 SUV’s and pull the drop-tops from the back of the lots in the hopes of snagging passersby wanting a vehicle to celebrate the (global?) warming weather. Pontiac tempts buyers with the G6 GT Hardtop Convertible while Chrysler lures in the public with the newly-introduced Sebring Limited Hardtop Convertible. As the only American-branded hardtop convertibles, which one truly deserves your hard-earned income? Or should both be tossed into the bonfire of the vanities?
