Here's another recipe from Priti Chitnis Gress:This recipe is one I often suggest for people who are trying Indian cooking for the first time. It has only a few ingredients and all of them are found at local grocery stores these days. Chickpeas are so nutritious with their protein and fiber content and more and more people are looking for easy vegetarian alternatives now. There are so many wa

Manoj Vajpayee – the seasoned actor of bollywood.By: CR Chatterji.Manoj Vajpayee, had shown his calibre of performing in various roles in bollywood films in the last 10 years. We eat salmon fairly regularly, whether it's burgers or fillet, and my family loves when I include a seasoned butter. To place a pat of seasoned butter over the hot salmon and watch it melt, imparting it's flavor into the fish is just beautiful presentation as well as tasty!I don't follow recipes when it comes to making the seasoned butter and I also don't make it the same each time. I implore you to do the same.Start with 1 stick butterAdd; lemon juicedried lemon peelmarjoramdilllemon peppergarlicjust to give you a few ideas. Sprinkle in the soft butter and mash with a fork to blend.Place the butter 'dough' onto saran wrap in a basic long line and carefully roll up the saran to form the butter into a 1 inch roll. Twist the ends and turn under. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before usi
I gave up salting my food years ago. I felt like all I tasted was salt and no matter what type of food I ate, it was too heavily layered in salt for me to get to the heart of the taste. It was hard to do without salt at first because everything tasted different, but I persevered and eventually, after about three weeks, food started to taste wonderful. I discovered that most foods have their own salt in them anyway. Adding more sodium chloride to my plate was doing nothing for the food: all it was doing was clogging up my arteries and increasing my blood pressure. I hardly take salt with anything now, and feel better because of it. Who knows how high my blood pressure would be right now if I continued to salt my food?Podcast version hereBible Verse of the DayColossians 4:6 Let your conversa
I got this idea from Don Davies rather excellent blog on wood stoves - http://activerain.com/blogsview/300623/Alternative-Source-of-HeatWhen one is wanting to heat their home using either a fireplace or a wood stove, the use of properly seasoned wood is paramount!Wood needs to have been cut and split for at the bare minimum of 6 weeks prior to use. This allows for the minimum amount of water to be removed from the wood. If you run into someone claiming that they have just split the wood the other day - run do not walk from that person. The wood will not burn as efficiently, produce more ash, not produce hotter fires and are generally a waste of money and wood. Seasoned hard wood is the best wood to have when wanting a roaring, hot fire - a mix of hardwood is even better. Remember - wood seasoned for a year is the best firewood to use! I was sleeping on my friend’s floor in Osaka the night before I flew to Vladivostok. Only I wasn’t sleeping, because countless anxieties about the trip ahead of me were galloping through my head. What if the Air Vladivostok flight crashed, what if the home stay host I was staying with was actually an axe murderer, or at least couldn’t understand my attempts at Russian, and what if I got off the Trans-Siberian train at a longer stop and then the train left without me while I was still in the queue for an ice cream?
It was similar the night before I flew to Tunisia. With no accommodation or trains booked, the most useless smattering of French phrases to make myself understood and virtually no knowledge of the cultural and architectural wonders that make up this small North African country, I was terrified.

Each week, I will test out two tips from the The Complete Tightwad Gazette, and on the following Wednesday I’ll review how they went and evaluate if it is worth my time/effort/money to continue with it.
I’m excited about this challenge because I like being able to try recipes featuring the original versus the cheaper version. To properly test these “sensible substitutes” on taste and price I made them head to head with their competitors. I also used generic products whenever possible. Let’s see how it went!
Tomato Soup
For this challenge I put the Tightwad’s tomato soup using tomato paste up against my store brand condensed soup in a can.

24 oz milk (refill tomato paste can four times)
1 teaspoon salt or to taste

When it comes to cops, I’m not a big fan. Arrogant, cocky, with an “I’m the boss” attitude. Maybe they really are the boss, and that’s probably what ticks me off, because I’ve never really cared for authority figures. Of course, I know not all cops act that way. And admittedly, if I were to [...]

One of the most innovative roasting, BBQing, and flavoring aids I’ve seen in a number of years is Callison’s Seasoned Skewers. They come in six different flavors: Thai Coconut Lime, Citrus Rosemary, Indian Mango Curry, Honey Bourbon, Mexican Fiesta, and Garlic Herb. Callison & Sons is a family-owned supplier of botanical oils and flavors that has been responsible for putting the “mint” flavoring into chewing gum since 1903. Barbecue, that very American way of flavoring and grilling meats has its history in the Native American Indian populations. Spanish explorers observed the Cherokees and Creek Indians of the Carolinas using crude wooden racks to smoke or dry fish, birds and meats. As they grew accustomed to the idea, the Spanish added beef and pork as meat components.BBQ in the U.S. has many regional variations and traditions. Traditionally, the flavor has been added by either the material burned in the fire (woods, charcoal, etc.) or by rubs or marinades placed on top of th

All businesses, whether new or old, need money. All entrepreneurs, whether growing or seasoned, know that it takes money to make money. Borrowing money from lenders, thus, has been an old carry out. The use of the borrowed money however depends on the type of business. If the business is new, the business loan amount can be used for working capital, hiring staff, purchasing real estate property for establishment of offices or factories, buying raw materials and machinery, etc. If the business is settled, the business loan can be used for paying off the salaries of the staff, hiring new staff, expanding the business in new places, and for several other business needs. There are three main types of Business Loans available in the loan market:1.short-term Business Loans.Short-term business loans are meant for meeting minor financial trouble a business may face from time to time. These loans are paid back within one year. The loan amount too is small. 2. intermediate Business Loans. The inte
