A Break In The Case of Sean Taylor; Four Arrested
This week has been one of saddest, and perhaps most sordid ever for sports fans in the Washington region due to the gruesome murder of Sean Taylor; however, it looks like there has been a huge break in the case. From the Washington Times: Four young men, including three teenagers, were arrested late yesterday in the fatal shooting this week of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, police said.Miami-Dade Police Department Director Robert Parker confirmed last night that the four had been taken into custody, adding that homicide detectives who tracked the men to their homes in Fort Myers, Fla. — about 160 miles from Taylor's home in Palmetto, Fla. — obtained at least one confession. Sean Taylor: An Incomplete Life
In a day when athletes typically made headlines for all the wrong reasons it was refreshing to see one of the "bad boys" begin to redeem themselves.Sean Taylor was one of those men.Sparked by the birth of his daughter Taylor began to change from the rebellious young man he was when he entered the league to a mature man and began to emerge as one of the best safeties in the NFL.In Taylor's rookie season of 2004 and sophomore campaign of 2005 he was accused of spitting on players on two separate occasions. Taylor skipped a a mandatory rookie symposium and held out of training camp the following season. The bad attitude followed Taylor off the field; during the same two year span he was arrested for a DUI and then armed assault. In the year since his daughter was born Taylor's life began to change according to his teammates. The results were clearly displayed on the field. No more broken tackles, no more spitting, and no more cheap shots. Taylor was starting to display the ability that ma

More on Sean Taylor, Michael Wilbon, & The Media
As some of you may know, I live in the Washington-Baltimore area, am a Redskins' fan, and I whipped up a post about on the death of Sean Taylor this morning. I have also have been covering the tragic news of Mr. Taylor online and in my car on sports talk radio.Well, in the hours since his death, I have seen the best and worst of the media in the coverage of this event. It seems within the last 12 or so hours I have heard every opinion, thought, speech said and read just about every word.I'm not shocked by much in life anymore, and I'd like to think I'd not get too emotional about someone I didn't know.In this instance, I have.Seriously, how does one judge a person's life?Do we just honor and pontificate the good guys, or do we just attack, nibble and go through everything with a fine tooth comb of people who may be so-called less than honorable.Today, I never thought I'd be disgusted with an columnist who I respect no matter he what says, but I am. R.I.P Sean Taylor (1983-2007)
Today was going to be a "Happy Youtube Tuesday", however given the circumstances I feel it only right that I pay tribute to Sean Taylor.Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor died Tuesday after he was shot in his home by an apparent intruder, leaving everybody, including myself in shock. The 24-year-old player died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been airlifted after the shooting early Monday. Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft following an All-American season at the University of Miami, was shot early Monday in the upper leg, damaging the key femoral artery and causing significant blood loss.I would first like to send out my deepest condolences to the Taylor family, the Washington Redskins, and the Miami Hurricanes. Most people know Sean as the flamboyant, hard-hitting, fine-gathering player he was in his first 3 or 4 years in the league. What many people don't realize is that he is also a father of a 1 year old baby girl named Jackie, and a maturing man and emergin

Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft following an All-American season at the University of Miami, was shot in the upper leg, damaging the key femoral artery and causing significant blood loss. “According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was shot inside the home by an intruder,” Miami-Dade County police said in a statement. “We do not have a subject description at this time.” Taylor’s girlfriend told Police the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor’s 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in

Redskins Safety Sean Taylor dies after shooting
Yesterday we were all hit by the news of NFL safety Sean Taylor being shot at his home. After many hours of complicated emergency surgery and all of us being in shock by the situation, Tuesday morning comes with the confirmation that Sean Taylor just passed away.    The situation turned into a real tragedy when one of the bullets shot by the intruder reached Taylor’s femoral artery, causing him to lose too much blood. Surgery could not repair the entire damage, but there were some hope of him giving good signs of surviving. However, it was confirmed that Sean Taylor died around 5 in the morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital.  Of course this was a major shock at the NFL. All players (especially the Washington Redskins team) are filled with grief. Even people like RB Clinton Portis feel sorry because Sean Taylor was at home on Monday because of a knee injury that kept him out of the field. If he hadn’t been injured, he would’ve probably been playing with the Redskins. But we ha

      Sean Taylor; In Memorium, 1983-2007
Today, I woke up and read the unfortunate news that Star NFL safety, Sean Taylor, passed away in a Miami area hopsital before dawn after being shot during a home invasion in his native Florida. As a Redskins' fan, I was shocked and utterly devastated that not only a star of the team died, but more importantly a 24-year old man who had a family, fiancee and a whole life ahead of him had it snuffed in an instant. From the reports, it looked like he was trying to defend his family from intruders, but in the end, became a victim. Whether it was a vendetta, robbery, or there's something else to the story, I'm not sure of; however, we know that a young man lost his life. It's too bad that most of the stories will have some sort of mention of his past incidents and transgressions; alas, it seems that he had made a concerted effort to turn his life around from what has been reported. An incident like this in America happens each day when someone who is murdered for some reason, especially a bl

Sad stuff right here. Thoughts go out to his family and friends. Sometimes the world just sucks. From The Washington Post: “He did not make it through the night,” said Taylor’s attorney, Richard Sharpstein, who called the incident “a ridiculous, unnecessary tragedy.” Taylor died “a couple of hours ago” surrounded by some family members, family friend Donald Walker said shortly after 6 a.m. “Things turned for the worse,” Walker said by phone from Taylor’s mother’s house. There “seemed like a lot of hope after he responded to the doctor’s command. But he lost of a lot of blood.” tag: nfl, sports, football, redskins, washington, sean taylor

Redskins, Sean Taylor “Clinging To Life”
Richard Sharpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player’s life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is “nonresponsive and unconscious” and the doctors are “worried about a possible brain injury or death.” Sharpstein, who has been with Taylor’s family at the hospital much of the day, said that there are major worries that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain, and that no other procedures are planned for right now. “They’re waiting to see if he comes to,” Sharpstein said. He was shot in the groin/thigh area near the femoral artery and lost copious amounts of blood. The intruders then retreated and Sean was airlifted to the trauma center and endured several hours of surgery, Sharpstein said.
