      Scissor Sister
Well, today was farewell to my hair stylist and friend for the last 17 years, M.It's safe to say we crossed over the service provider/customer realm about 16 1/2 years ago to cackling buddies since. We reminisced about the old times.... when I was single and looking for love, bad boyfriend drama (there was a ton of that), new careers, and the day she styled my hair for my wedding 13 years ago. We talked about the zillion color changes that topped my head over the last two decades... from blonde, to red to brown and back again. We were pregnant together in 2002/2003 (her first and my first and only- David), with the same due date at the time (she ultimately had her daughter two weeks early, I had my son two weeks late). We are the same age, and we both talked about turning 40 for the last ten

Scissor Sisters - Hurrah! A Year of Ta-Dah
These 19 song recorded during live show in 2007, at London's 02, along with a behind the scenes documentary of the Scissor Sisters on the tour itself. I'm not a big Scissor fan myself, i like some of their songs, though. I like their nice Comfortably Numb cover, or their great brit-pop oriented... [[ This is a content summary only. Anderson Silva Looses Fight with a Flying Scissor Heel Hook Video
Anderson Silva has very few looses on his record, 4 in total out of 24 fights.  Two of the losses were from submission, one for a disqualification to Yushin Okami and one via a decision.  Of those losses, his loss to Ryo Chonan is spectacular.  Silva was dominating Chonan for the entirety of the fight until Chonan throws a last hope Flying Scissor Heel Hook and sinks it to win the fight in a matter of seconds.  The move is totally insane, you have to see it for yourself. Wot? No Boy George? No Scissor Sisters?
Details of the tracks featured on Kylie's forthcoming X album were released today. And the Scissors' White Diamond is nowhere to be seen. Boy George will also be disappointed to be left out of Camp Kylie, but, hey, them's the breaks. "Marylin? The bee-atch said 'No!'. I tell ya, girl, that's us back on the cheap ciggies. Apparently there's some new kid on the block called Kelvin Harris. What? Rolf Harris' grandson... That explains it. Those Ozzies bloody well stick together. Harumph". It's no surprise, really. White Diamond has been doing the rounds as a live version for a while now and George's contributions never sounded substantial enough. What is a surprise is that the Groove Armada tracks weren't included. After such a strong album with Soundboy Rock, any producer/songwriter role on X promised a lot. Kylie's loss is Roisin Murphy's gain - just wait until her album comes out and you'll see what I mean! Groove Armada 1: "You fucked it up!" Groove Armada 2: "How? We go

Song of the Week: I Don't Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters
The photo in this entry is Sparkles. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Ever since I first heard this song on the radio it was an instant hit to me. I couldn't get enough and would hear it endlessly. Although there is only one other song by the Scissor Sisters that I enjoy as well, this one is the favorite. Not only does it have a great upbeat sound that makes you want to contradict what the song is about, but the vocals are reminiscent of the Bee Gees. Anytime I hear this song I feel like dancing, and perhaps you will too once you get into the groove of its funky sound. :) Here it is, I Don't Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters: I encourage comments on my writings. So I HIRED A Scissor Murderer…
I had another wonderful weekend of shoots. Actually, it was a single day. On Saturday, my crew, consisting of Makeup Artist Charlotte Bentley (NY), Hair Stylist Linh Nguyen (DC) and Fashion Stylist Opè (DC), shot two separate editorials. It was a long day, but well worth it. Of course, I have worked with Linh & Opè before, but this was my first time working with Charlotte; She is young, but brilliant at what she does. We began shooting at 10 AM and wrapped around 12:30 AM. The above image was actually an outtake while Linh was cleaning up the model’s wig before shooting the last look of the day; as I’m sure you can imagine, we were quite slap happy. The Beginning The first shoot of the day was an editorial submission to Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, a magazine that I contribute to on a pretty regular basis. The idea behind the shoot was “The Four Seasons” of the year: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Using makeup, color and flowers, I believe we were successf

Video Premiere: Scissor Sisters - Kiss You Off Wh...
Video Premiere: Scissor Sisters - Kiss You OffWhile I would still rather see Might Tell You Tonight as a single, the video to this Ana led track is one of the best off of the album so far. The Sisters described it as their most polished looking clip yet, and they weren't lying. It is very stylish and perfectly put together. I hope this does well for them because I am sick of tracks off of the wonderful Ta-Dah flopping.Video Premiere: Laakso - Italy vs. Helsinki (ft. Peter Jöback)This is one of my favorite singles this year so far. It is at once campy/completely over-the-top and beautiful. The video is absolutely fantastic. It's got sailors, crucifixion, flying, choirs... basically everything that you could ever want. It's very funny and also very well done. It may end up being one of my favorite videos of the year as well.

Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man
This is the new single by the Scissor Sisters called ‘She’s My Man’. The third single to come from their brilliant second album ‘Ta-Dah’, and it carries on where ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ and the slightly less successful ‘Land Of A Thousand Words’. It’s another slice of catchy electro pop, exactly as we’ve come to expect from the band. The video meanwhile is one of the most ambitious they’ve done, with an animated feel as people in black contort and twist Jake and Ana’s bodies until their moves resemble something from ‘The Matrix’! Song Rating: 7/10 Video Rating: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 Scissor Sisters, She’s My Man, Ta Dah, I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, Land Of A Thousand Words, Electro Pop, The Matrix, Video, YouTube

      Scissor overload
Yesterday I decided to brave my sewing drawers and re-organize them. What a mess! I have 3 of those RubberMaid stacking drawers in the RV, filled to the brim with books, patterns and gadgets. They were to the point where I couldn’t find anything, and are now nicely sorted out again! I have SIX pairs of scissors! That’s a little overkill, I’m not sure where they all came from. I’ll try not to run with them all at once! When I finished that, I headed to Hancock’s to pick up 2 more PJ patterns, a nightgown for my mom, and a PJ set for my hubby, who shook and shivered like a sad little puppy the night before last, when the temperature dipped down to 30 degrees and I forgot to bring in the space heaters… and the furnace needs cleaning before I run it. They didn’t have a very good selection of flannel, so I’m not thrilled with the fabrics I ended up with, but they’ll do. Now if the PJ’s were for ME… they had some darl

Scissor Sisters - "She's My Man"
They didn't felt like dancing and then took us to a land of a thousand words... Now it's time for us to meet their man... who is actually a woman... She's My Man is the third single from their second album, Ta-Dah, and the video has just premiered. Like any other Scissor Sisters video, is pretty imaginative, and it uses the Kuroko technique, where the band members act out a scene round a dining table against a black background. Stagehands (dressed completely in black, and effectively invisible) move props, furniture and bits of costume to surreal effect. And it looks amazing! The song is also pretty catchy, and I consider it a follow up to 2006's hit single I Don't Feel Like Dancing (probably because Land of a Thosand Words was quite a flop)... Enjoy!Scissor Sisters - She's My ManiTunesBuy She's My ManShe's My Man

[2004] Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters (Mp3 Download)
Review by Johnny Loftus @ allmusic.com Midway through the 2000s, theft with an artful nod and wink has become quite fashionable, and frilly is the new black. Combos like Chromeo and the Electric Six are finding mileage in long-shuttered, retrospectively laughable genres like synth pop and new romantic, and revisiting disco's most damning elements with a vigor for recombination. The results

      [2006] Scissor Sisters - Ta-Dah (Mp3 Download)
Review by John Bush @ allmusic.com The first Scissor Sisters album was one of the catchiest debuts of the new millennium, but also one of the best-crafted. All camp on the surface but with plenty of substance underneath, it succeeded because the group wrote fantastic songs and backed them with excellent productions, usually in the vein of their biggest pop/dance heroes, from the Bee Gees to

New, and I have a scissor question posted by jazzpanda
I inherited a lovely old Kenmore from my Granny. It has almost everything I need but I remember her keeping specific cloth cutting scissors. I don't have any and I'm wondering if this is something I should invest in (buy them at Joanns or some specialty store) or something I can get at Wal Mart? What is a good price range? Should I shell out $10 or can I get some well made ones for $5? I'm just afraid if I'm economical that the scissors will end up tearing little pieces out of the cloth while I cut. I'm a very thrifty person but I don't want to be so cheap that I hurt all my future sewing projects. Thanks in advance!Last post by PattiannSG at Wed 26 Mar 2008 10:05:06 PM Total posts: 11 Visit PatternReview.com to read this entire topic.Research Singer Sewing Machines at PatternRevi
