This guy, who is the first German to win the Formula One World championship, was born on February 3, in 1969. Hürth Hermülheim, Germany is the place where it happened. Seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher is "statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen" (according to the official Formula One website). In a 2006 FIA survey, Schumacher was voted as the most popular driver among Formula One fans. After winning two championships with Benetton, Schumacher moved to Ferrari in 1996 and won five consecutive drivers' titles with them from 2000-2004. Schumacher is the first and only Formula One driver to have an entire season of podium finishes (2002).But this racing star has also black sides. Michael was twice involved in scandals that determined the outcome of the world cha
Lewis Hamilton could go on to beat Michael Schumacher's all-time record of seven Formula One world titles, motorsport boss Max Mosley predicts.Hamilton made a spectacular F1 debut in 2007, losing the drivers' title to Kimi Raikkonen by a single point. However, the 23-year-old's debut season was also marred by his spats with former McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso and the fall-out of the "spy row".The pressure of the politics surrounding the sport and the media spotlight even led to suggestions by Hamilton that he could quit. But instead he has signed a new five-year deal with McLaren, reported to be worth £10m per year, and Mosley says that was the right decision."My advice to Lewis would be to put the money in the bank and don't worry about the politics," said Mosley, president of the spo
Ralf Schumacher finished his Force India testing Thursday with with a realization that his career in F1 may well be over and that there is no plans for him to drive for Force India.
It was a very difficult day for Ralf at Jerez on Thursday which included 2 spins and mechanical problems, ending up with Schumacher finishing the day 6/10ths slower than other Force India tester Antonio Liuzzi and slowest of all 20 on track. It must be a bitter pill for the seasoned veteran to swallow, but he says it isn’t something that just came out of the blue. He has admitted to thinking about the possible end of his career since the middle of the 2007 season

What has been rumoured has been confirmed. Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralf Schumacher will test with Force India next week.
What does this mean ?
a) Fisichella has very likely been shipped out of Renault
b) McLaren did not answer Ralf’s calls
Liuzzi and Klien have extra competition, it remains to be seen if Vijay Mallya is looking for some experience he may use during car development or for young aggressive drivers.
Fisichella, Ralf Schumacher, Liuzzi and Klien will also share the Force India cars with Franck Montagny, Roldan Rodriguez and Giedo van der Garde.

As you are well aware, on November 14th, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher tested the new Ferrari car in Spain and has demonstrated that he is still the world's faster driver.According to Scuderia, Michael will return to the cockpit of Ferrari's Formula 1 car for another test at Jerez next month.Schumachers passionate fans (me among them) may think that the Formula One legend's frequent appearance on the track may be a good indication of his return to the sport. On our blog we even had one reader suggesting that Michael would join Honda.Unfortunately, Michael's return to the royal sport is out of question and the German driver has been underlining this all the time. However, Ferrari reveals that they are going to use Michael's experience and expertise in testing and perfecting their car. This is especially important for the 2008 season when there will be no anti-lock break and traction control.

Michael Schumacher surprised few including himself with his speed on his return to the Ferrari F1 car after over a year away. He topped the timesheets on both Tuesday and Wednesday tests in Barcelona. This is not a Michael Schumacher fan site, but one has to give it to him, he has the racing in blood. And it seems it does not matter whether it is on 4 or 2 wheels. During his recent run on Ducati MotoGP motorbike, Michael Schumacher recorded a lap only 6 second slower than the current MotoGP champion Casey Stoner… See the video.
As David Coulthard said the other day, making case for himself too:
“It shows that age does not matter - if he was back in Formula One, he would be at the front. If McLaren is still looking for a driver, Michael would be a fantastic solution. Just as Paul McCartney can never unlearn great music, Michael will never forget how to drive a car damn fast.”

I absolutely hate mowing the lawn, so anything that can help accomplish this task quicker than my hand-me-down Toro is worth considering. An F1-inspired mower just might do the trick. Complete with an F1-style front wing, full race suspension, rear view mirrors, vintage John Player Special-style livery and a steering wheel sporting an LCD gauge display, this CG mockup of a concept racing mower by Kadeg Boucher of France could easily shave a few tenths off my mow time. We particularly like the pull start that’s been relocated front and center, as well as the race helmet cap on the single spark plug. Within the gallery below you’ll find a bunch of images showing Boucher’s concept cutter from every angle, and some versions of the machine appear more production feasible than others. Seriously, there are at least a few of us out there who would lay down cash on the spot if we passed this thing in Home Depot.

Today in Valencia 7 time F1 Champion Michael Shumacher completed 58 laps onboard of Casey Stoner’s Ducati. Amazingly he lapped at impressive pace, his quickest lap in high 1:37’s. That is only 5 (!) seconds off the lap record set by Dani Pedrosa this weekend. This just proves that Moto GP bikes are very easy to ride because of all electronics involved.
In 2005 Shumi rode Ducati’s 990cc Desmosedici in Mugello. That time he was 15 seconds off the pace. Did he become a better rider? I seriously doubt it, it’s the bike that gives him the confidence. I can speculate that if he tried riding 500cc two stroke GP machine, he would be 45 seconds off the pace or possibly thrown off the bike.
With high horsepower Moto GP bikes getting more and more manageable every year, the rider’s skill slowly becomes irrelevant. It is clear to me that the Golden Era of motorcycle RACERS is over, replaced by the battle on the technological fronts. I think Dorna should do somethi
Patrick Head and his sense of humour made my day :-). While sending his warning over Nico Rosberg to McLaren:
“Nico is contracted to our team for 2008 and we have an option for his services for 2009. We are planning to go into next season with Nico as our lead driver, and we would not entertain any approach from McLaren for Nico. McLaren are a team in a position to offer very large salaries, but our aim is to be looking to strengthen Williams.”
He made his own suggestion to McLaren:
“What about McLaren bringing Michael Schumacher out of retirement? Michael’s still fit - and probably bored. I suspect he has found sitting on the pit wall dull.”
Haha, perhaps he thinks the time has come to follow up on the talk Ron Dennis and Michael Schumacher had back in 1995 during a fashion show (video):

Or did Toyota drop him ?
Who knows, the fact is, the speculations are over and there is now officially empty race seat in Toyota for the next season. There are several candidates. Timo Glock, the fresh GP2 champion may be one of the hottest.
Ralf made the announcement today in Shanghai and also published it on his website:
“Having been a Toyota driver in the past three years, I opted for looking for a new challenge. I joined Toyota with high expectations. On the one hand, I regarded it as a major and exciting challenge to be involved in the development of a new racing car. On the other hand, I also learned to like the Japanese style of living, during my long stay in Japan before entering Formula 1. And I still get on well with the Japanese mentality. But I am waiting for years for a competitive car.
Toyota also was a nice and interesting experience - particularly the cooperation with the team, engineers and mechanics. Still, it’s time now to look for a new chall

Seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher will be participating ine the Karting World Championship in Mariembourg. The event, which appears on the CIK-FIA calendar, will take place from 20-23 September on the Fagnes circuit in Belgium. It will be the famous German driver's first return to competition since his retirement from F1 following last year's season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix.Last month, his former Ferrari team mate Felipe massa had announced that Schumacher would join him in the International Challenge of Go-Kart in Brazil, an annual event which will take place 24-25 November. Michael recently became the co-owner of the KSM karting team with partners Peter Kaiser and Thomas Muchow."My love for kart races has never left me," Schumacher had declared at the time.
Michael Schumacher has admitted for the first time that the ascendancy of reigning world champion Fernando Alonso contributed to his decision to retire. At the height of his championship reign earlier this decade, the seven time world champion repeatedly declared that the right time to stop will be when a younger driver starts to regularly beat him.38-year-old Schumacher told the Spanish language magazine Gentleman this week that he decided to call it a day at the end of 2006 principally because he detected his dedication to the sport beginning to slip.He added: "And I always said that the day a younger driver went past me would tell me that the moment had arrived to leave."Schumacher also revealed that he sympathises with his 2006 championship rival, as Alonso now endures a somewhat negative relationship with the media."I have been astonished by the commentaries of certain journalists," the German said."This person is the youngest double world champion of all time, but they write that
Is German Village / Schumacher Place dead? No, it’s still alive and well thank you. It dawned on me that unless you live there or follow the market, the panache of German Village may seem like it’s given way to the North. While running some comps for a would-be client today, I found that Since May First 56 homes have sold in German Village and Schumacher place.
I know it has been slow going for German Village of late, but the overall picture isn’t so bad. 18.6 homes on average every month the last 3 months— May, June and July. Three 1/2 months of market time on average (not including the previous realtor of course!) and average square feet prices in the $190s.
Granted, German Village isn’t a large area but if you consider that there are approximately 180 active listings between Front Street and Parsons, Livingston and Nursery Lane (i.e. Approximately German Village and Schumacher Place combined) that’s means it’d take about 9 1/2 months to sell all the homes current

Without any doubt, Ralf Schumacher’s season is not good at all so far. He scored a single point but his team mate scored 4 already in pretty much the same car. While Trulli does qualify or races near the point scoring places most of the time, Ralf fights it at the back with Spykers. … So where did it all go wrong for Ralf? Or was it ever good? For sure it was before he joined F1. He finished 2nd in German Formula 3 Championship in 1995 and went on to win the Macau GP Formula 3 street race the same year. At that race he beat Pedro de la Rosa and Jarno Trulli. In 1996 he moved to Formula Nippon and won it, making his way to F1. Pretty impressive resume that deservedly brought him F1 drive. The best way to see his F1 performances is to compare his with those of his team mates. Since joining Jordan in 1997 Ralf completed 10 seasons in F1. He raced 2 seasons for Jordan (Jordan-Peugeot and Jordan-Mugen-Honda), 6 seasons for Williams (Williams-Supertec in 1999 and BMW-Williams 2000-2004).

Michael Schumacher may have claimed he would be taking a back seat in his consultancy role for Ferrari this season but the seven-times world champion took such a hands-on role in the pit lane at the Spanish grand prix over the weekend that one German newspaper carried the headline "Schumacher and Massa take pole" after the Brazilian driver Felipe Massa qualified fastest on Saturday. The implications for Kimi Raikkonen are uncomfortable. The Finn, signed on a record $38m (£19.2m) retainer to replace Schumacher at the end of last season, has been for the most part overshadowed by his team-mate Massa, who now has two wins from the first four races of the season. When Ferrari signed Kimi Raikkonen to replace Michael Schumacher, most experts warned that one of the biggest challenges that the Italian team faced was not the inconsistency, blind speed or risk taking (some times suicidal) instinct of the Finn but adjusting to the person that he is.A sample of that was evident at the recent Australian Grand Prix. It was the round one of the 2007 Formula One season and Kimi, driving for Ferrari for the first time, won quite comfortably. Ferrari clearly established that they had a car that was superior to other teams and it was also Kimi’s first race win in more than 12 months. Under the circumstances, one would have expected some sort of celebration on the podium — to say the least. Kimi, possibly bored by his lonely stay inside the cockpit for the entire duration of the race (his radio failed completely), raised his hands and managed a smile. He made a feeble attempt to spray the champagne and finally, gave the bottle to Jean Todt to pass it to t

Michael Schumacher has been replaced at the Italian squad by Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who many predict is not well enough equipped to fill the seven time world champion's shoes.Indeed, Raikkonen is seldom at the top of the time sheets at F1's winter group tests and is often observed encountering technical problems with his 'F2007'. Maranello based Ferrari's long time technical director Ross Brawn, meanwhile, is taking a 'sabbatical' this year, and some observers have expressed surprise at the finer details of the team's new car for 2007.Borrowing a word from Italian, the German tabloid Bild headlined the apparent situation at Ferrari this winter as 'Kimi Catastrofe', and noted that the team may have lost direction a mere 112 days after Schumacher called it quits.Spaniard Gene, 32, told 'Diario As': "Even without Schumacher, Ferrari is still Ferrari and Raikkonen is a great driver."Some things have changed but I don't think this will make it easier for the others," he added, de
