Defending the Property of an Anti-Property Marxist Scholar
Guy Debord, the Marxist and French philosopher who died in 1994, may be rolling over in his grave. A lawyer representing his widow has threatened Alexander R. Galloway, an associate professor of culture and communication at New York University, with legal action. Mr. Galloway said the lawyer sent him a letter demanding that he cease and desist from distributing his online war game, claiming it infringes on the copyright of the Debord estate. The philosopher had created a similar war game. But copyrights and intellectual property were anathema to Debord, said Mr. Galloway. The Situationist International movement that Debord founded in 1957 is a mix of anarchism and Marxism. Its followers scrawled, "Abolish copyright" on building walls during the May 1968 student uprisings in Pari

      A priest-scholar on Antichrist....
There are many people today (and very many Catholics among them) who reject the Scriptural prophecy of a personal Antichrist. These people view the idea of a personal Antichrist as a legend of man's fantasy. But the truth regarding the Man of Sin comes to us from God revealing it to His prophets, His Apostles, and to His Church throughout salvation history.Fr. Paschal Huchede, in his excellent work entitled "History of Antichrist," explains:" Some have thought that the word Antichrist is only a generic term by which all the enemies of Christ are designated, a word comprising in its signification all heretics, schismatics, apostates, infidels - in a word, all the impious or antichristian empire. St. John seems to hold this opinion when he says, "Even now there are become many Antchrists. He

Indonesian Islamic groups angry at scholar's treatment
Indonesia's two largest Muslim organizations have criticized the Religious Affairs Ministry for barring a liberal Egyptian Islamic thinker from addressing an international youth conference earlier this week. "We are concerned with the case. It should not have happened," Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin was quoted Thursday by local newspaper The Jakarta Post as saying. Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd of Egypt decided to cancel his appearance at an Islamic seminar slated for Tuesday in Malang, East Java, following pressure from the ministry. The ministry said it had received demands from certain Muslim organizations for the government to ban Abu Zayd from attending. Abu Zayd was already in Surabaya, East Java, when he was told through a text message by the ministry to stay away from the forum. Abu Zayd, who lives in exile in the Netherlands, has widely been accused in Egypt and several other Muslim nations of blasphemy by saying the Koran was a "cultural product."Indonesia News Blog:

Harvard Law Grad and Rhodes Scholar chooses Hip Hop over 6-Figure Salary
Conscious rapper, A.D. the VOICE has committed his life to Hip Hop culture and its potential for social transformation. He has done so in spite of the six-figure offers he received from three different law firms upon graduating from the most elite academic institutions in the world--Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar and Harvard Law.With the December 4, release of his debut album, Painfully Free, an independent recording from the Los Angeles-based label, STATiK Entertainment, a new narrative in Hip Hop emerges--one rooted in black intellectual excellence and the human struggle for peace and truth. Free is less about any one particular sound, and more about a universal sound that speaks to the human condition. "I believe the natural state of man is painfully free, and to get there we must be prepared to face up to the truth," A.D. says. "They say the truth hurts. But it can also set you free. And I would rather be painfully free than remain in painless captivity."Free is al
