Filmmakers undergo many hardships to show us unseen and unheard-of locations. When cameraman-turned-director K.V. Anand wanted to show some of the most unexplored and beautiful landscapes in Ayan, he opted for Skeleton Coast and Kaokolan in Namibia. Well, except for a few highly-active persons with wander lust and geography experts, that name would not ring any bells! And K.V. Anand chose the

I have been settled in Knoxville, Tennessee for almost two months now. I wanted to give little update on my adaptation to a slower paced life. Napa Valley, famous around the world as the Wine Country, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in California. More than five million visitors come each year, often overcrowding the roadways on summer weekends. Peak times are the summer months and the harvest "crush" during September and October. Napa Valley is home to more than two hundred wineries. With wine as a focus, great dining naturally emerged to compliment it, making it a food-and-drink lover's paradise!Spring and fall are the best times to visit. Summers tend to be hot and dusty, as well as decidedly crowded. Fall (September-November) combines fine weather with the grape harvest, and the wine-making season is on in full swing! The question is often asked as to when be the right and correct time to "prune" your trees? This is always a topical and highly relevant important question when it comes to the topic of tree care - for your yard and garden landscaping - whether it is your city house or rural cottage or chalet. When considering the timeliness of pruning one must consider various factors. The correct timing is not always when it is easiest and most convenient for the landscape artist or technician. The first factor to consider is that every pruning cut on a living branch is a direct insult and injury to that plant is it tree, bush or shrub. These wounds take away energy from the plants vital stores and reserves. Pruning wounds will cause the tree to use energy to contain the decay that is caused by injuring

Reading through the most recent issue of Dothan Magazine, I found an article titled “The Best of Dothan”. The story was simply a compilation of some of the great and unique things Dothan has to offer both citizens and visitors alike. One particular entry caught my eye, and that was “Best street for a scenic drive”. The portion of Woodland Avenue between West Main Street and Fortner Street was highlighted as having some of the most interesting homes and architecture in Dothan.Specifically, I wanted to focus on the section from West Main up to South Orange, right behind the Dothan Country Club (see map below). There are several different styles of homes in the area; each piece of real estate offering something different from the rest.
This spanish style building is formerly a residence, but is currently an accounting office. It is also one of Dothan’s most recognized real estate landmarks, and marks the starting point of the annual Azalea-Dogwood Trail in

During the fall, one of my favorite things to do is take road trips to enjoy the trees changing colors. Last week, I mentioned a road trip on Skyline Drive in Virginia. When we lived in Colorado, we took several trips like that. One beautiful drive is the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway from Black Hawk/Central City to Estes Park.Once we reached Estes Park, we also enjoyed the fall colors and elk watching at Rocky Mountain National Park. The best time for fall colors is usually the last week in September and the first week in October.
Beginning in the rich farmland of the Willamette Valley, this 66 mile route then winds along rushing streams and through thick forests, climbing into the West Cascades and McKenzie Pass, and joins the McKenzie Pass- Santiam Pass National Scenic Byway. Much of the Byway parallels the Santiam Wagon Road, and this road was built to lead livestock ranchers east to pasture lands in Central Oregon, as well as to gold mines in Eastern Oregon and Idaho. My trip to Skatelöv paid off. I got some photos of the rune stone Sm 6, the “picture stones” and more.
Sm 6. The size and form of the rune stone is that of a tombstone, but the outlay of the inscriptions and decorations seems more a test inscription but the inscription says otherwise.

To our left, the Tam Dao Mountain Range swooped across the horizon, casting majestic shadows on the quiet villages underneath. Already we felt at peace even though all we could see of our goal – the recently built Truc Lam Tay Thien Zen Monastery – were the red tips of its tile-covered roof, peeking at us from a distance through the trees.

In our fast paced life, it is often good to know that someone really cares about us, and that we are making a difference in someone's life. When you are in a relationship, you should try to find some time to get away, just with that special person, and you should do this often.A big mistake that many people make is to think that a romantic getaway is something that needs to cost lots of money or take lots of time, and therefore shouldn't be done too often. In fact, this can not be further from the truth. The point of romantic getaways is to spend time with the person you love, and you should do this often, even if you aren't spending lots of money or going somewhere exotic. Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced that the construction of the controversal "Scenic Bridge" which were to replace the 82 year-old Johor Causeway linking Malaysia to Singapore will be stopped permanently, to everyone's surprise. The idea of building this bridge was mooted in 2003 by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir who reasoned that the Causeway was built without giving due environmental considerations to the Strait of Johor. He claimed that the Causeway was blocking the free flow of the water of Johor Strait and eventually turning it into a pond of dead water. Whereas a bridge will allow the sea water to flow freely below it. But his proposal was met with strong protests from the Singapore government, whatever for, I really don't understand. Maybe Singaporeans love dead waters. When Tun Dr Mahathir retired and Datuk Abd Badawi took over as PM, he continued to pursue the idea of replacing the old causeway with a new bridge, he even
