The Black Dog - Radio Scarecrow

The scarecrow - Pink Floyd (1967)

Islamophobia and the Islamist Scarecrow [Digg]
      >... "Islamist scarecrow". The term is meant for the ears of the West as well, and suggests that the autocratic governments play on the fear of the West that an Islamist rule will be the alternative if those regimes fall, so that by waving this "scarecrow" around, and alluding to the ominous repercussions of reform for Western interests....>>

Scarecrows coming to a Scarecrow Festival near you
Scarecrows just aren't the same anymore. Firstly, they're not scary and second they just don't seem to be interested in crows, and vice versa. They've morphed into a whole new level within society's psyche and taken a persona more urbanised than their rural roots could account. People now flock to Scarecrow Festivals - literally undeterred by the presence of such scaremongering figurines - and are even replacing the humble garden gnome (thank you, God!) with these more endearing and imaginative garden fillers. For most people scarecrows have not even registered on the gardening radar screen yet there seems to be a rapid following as scarecrow festivals spring up all over the world. In Yorkshire, UK tomorrow begins the Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival that runs through to the 19 August. The festival boasts more than 100 life-sized scarecrows that have each been hand-made according to local custom. Then, towards the end of October the Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival commences from t

Batman Returns with The Dark Knight: Joker, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Riddler
Batman Returns with The Dark Knight which is the new 2008 batman movie, Batman: The Dark Knight is the sequel movie to the 2005 release Batman Begins which starred Christian Bale. The new movie which has a release date of July 18th 2008 in the United States and July 25th in the UK will feature many baddies. The Dark Knight seems to be getting a little too overcrowded which some of you will love or some of you will hate, the reason it is so overcrowded is because there are going to be many villains such as The Riddler, the Joker, the Scarecrow and even Two-Face, is this too many villains; who knows only by watching the movie will tell all. It was said that David Banner actually auditioned for the role as Gamble who is a crime lord attempting to gain power but in fact Michael Jai White was cast instead, you can read the Michael Jai White to play Gamble which says it all. Are all these villains in one entire script, I am hoping these rumors are not true or hopefully all of these villai

I This place is so special, I confess I have never had an experience like it.Painters TipWhen you take a painting workshop go in with an open heart and mind. Expect to try new things and new ways to study. If you are an experienced painter, leave your experience at home and be willing to try someone else's techniques. Waste no time trying to show the instructor how much you know. Let go of your way and try theirs. What can it hurt? You just might learn a better way.If you are a beginner, soak it in like a sponge and waste no time beating yourself up for not doing good work. The biggest deterrant to success for you is frustration. Let go of your fragile ego and enjoy every process. Success must come later when you have gathered more experience.

Erebus Scarecrow - Computer Controlled Intelligent Scarecrow
These University of South Florida students built this Computer Controlled Intelligent Scarecrow to enter a Microsoft design contest, their entry won second place. Video after the jump. “Our idea for this project was to develop an “intelligent scarecrow” called the Erebus Scarecrow. The system is designed to protect ponds at a fish farm from bird predators that can cost farmers thousands of dollars in losses. The Erebus Scarecrow helps the environment by introducing an effective non-lethal method of pest deterrence to protect the birds and to prevent the spread of disease and contamination of the raised fish. As a requirement for the Windows Challenge, our environment of development was Windows CE 5.0. We were provided an eBox II with Windows CE and tools to develop for it after being accepted as one of the top 200 teams worldwide. I was in charge of everything Windows CE related, from creating the custom operating system image with Platform Builder 5.0 to deployin
