First Drive: 2007 Saturn Aura Green LineI tested Saturn's Aura midsize sedan last year and had a chance to get in its new hybrid version last week. The Aura Green Line shares its hybrid drivetrain with Saturn’s Vue Green Line SUV and gets an EPA-estimated 28/35 mpg (city/highway). That's the same rating as the Honda Accord Hybrid but less than the Toyota Camry Hybrid's 40/38 mpg. If the Aura isn
After seeing plenty of shots of Opel's new Insignia mid-sizer, we're anxiously awaiting General Motor's official announcement of its statewide debut as the next-gen Saturn Aura. Unfortunately, current rumors indicate that we'll be waiting a bit longer than initially planned, as the project has reportedly been put on hold for an undetermined amount of time. We're fuzzy on what prompted the hold-up

The Saturn Aura is about to become obsolete. GM's European wing has officially leaked photos of disguised Opel Insignias on test. Insignia replaces the Vectra, which is the Aura's donor car. The Insignia will be revealed at the London Motor Show on July 22.Insignia is the first car on GM's new global Epsilon platform, which provides replacements for the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6, Saab's 9-3 and 9-5, Cadillac BLS sedan/BLT wagon in Europe, a Korean-built car sold as a Suzuki, a Holden in Australia and the next-generation Buick LaCrosse."All of these cars will be radically different from each other but they will all use common engineering solutions," Bob Lutz told us at Geneva. "They're going to be so different in aesthetics and driving characteristics, so it's not one car dressed up in di
The Saturn Aura Green Line hybrid, introduced at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, will deliver at least a 25-percent fuel economy improvement over the non-hybrid Aura XE for a premium of less than $2,500.
The Aura Green Line’s base price is expected to start below $23,000.
“The introduction of the Aura Green Line broadens Saturn’s commitment to customers of enabling them to drive green without going broke,” said Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak. “With Green Line variants of both Aura and Vue, Saturn again demonstrates that environmental products can also be a great value.”
The 2007 Aura Green Line will be produced at GM’s Fairfax Assembly Plant, and will be available at Saturn retailers in spring 2007.
The Aura Green Line is equipped with the GM Hybrid system, which reduces fuel consumption fuel via sophisticated controls and a unique electric motor/generator mated to a 2.4L Ecotec VVT four-cylinder engine and Hydra-Matic 4T45 four-speed transmission. This i
Saturn has introduced an all-new mid-size sedan called the Aura. The 2007 Saturn Aura is the company's first truly credible entry in the most competitive segment of the automobile market. Compared with Saturn's last mid-size car, the unloved L-Series sedan and wagon that died quiet deaths back in 2004, the Aura is decidedly modern and fresh, with Euro character and aesthetic flair. Interestingly, the Aura has none of the plastic body panels that made Saturn famous in the 1990s.The Aura is based on the same safe, solid architecture as the Saab 9-3, which sells for thousands of dollars more. Compared with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion, the Aura is well equipped with safety and comfort features.Aura comes with a choice of two powerful V6 engines. (And a hybrid model is on its way.) The Aura is competitively priced: The base XE starts at less than $20,495 and comes with a 224-horsepower V6 and four-speed automatic. The more powerful XR features a 252-hp V6 and six-speed
Saturn isn’t one of the my favorite cars but the Saturn Aura Green Line will be one of the first eco-friendly cars from GM.
The hybrid version of Saturn Aura has the following features:
It gets 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. That’s 8 mpg better city and 5 mpg better highway than Aura with its most fuel-efficient gas engine, a 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 20 city/30 highway. Not 50 or 60 mpg, but a significant bump.

General Motors Corp. said on Monday its Saturn Aura Green Line hybrid will qualify for a $1,300 tax credit, making it the cheapest hybrid in the U.S. market. The Aura, which will be the first passenger sedan hybrid from a U.S. automaker and will compete with Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius, started shipping to dealers last week and will go on sale this month.
The folks at Saturn have finally slapped a sticker on their 2007 Aura Green Line, and at $22,695 (with destination fee) it undercuts the price of every other hybrid on the market. If that wasn't enough incentive to woo would be fuel misers into the dealership, the Green Line also qualifies for the $1,300 federal tax credit.[Source: Autoblog via GM]Continued- Article, official press releaseAs a refresher, the hybrid setup in the Aura combines a 2.4L engine to an electric motor/generator to produce 164 HP and 159 lb.-ft. of torque while returning current EPA mileage figures of 28 city/35 highway. The 30-percent increase in mileage over the base Aura is achieved by both shutting off the engine at idle and cutting fuel delivery during deceleration. The Aura GL is considered a "mild" hybrid since the electric motor doesn't move the vehicle on its own or assist the IC engine in acceleration at any time.http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/19/saturn-aura-green-line-becomes-lowest-priced-hybrid/P

With gas around $4.00 a gallon, hybrids are hotter than ever. Well, the Toyota Prius is. Saturn's Aura Green Line? A mere 30 were sold in June. No, that's not a typo. Clearly, GM has some tweaking to do. And they have done a few things for the 2009 model year. The [...]
The Times of London has a test of the new Vauhall/Opel Insignia, possibly destined for the US as the 2010 Saturn Aura, and the Mondeo-fighter apparently isn’t living up to the hype. What is the Times’ biggest beef? The beef, apparently, as the Insignia weighs a hefty 3,300 pounds, some ten percent more than the [...]
