We checked in to the Asiana hotel around noon on Saturday. It's a beautiful hotel....the biggest ball room in Chennai, fantastic catering and events, one of the best Thai restaurants in town, nice hotel rooms, lovely spa concept, modern and clean. There were some disappointments in the details, but I'm hoping it's only because it's a new hotel and that the kinks will be worked out.After having lunch at the Thai restaurant, Silk, we went to the ballroom to help out with the setup since I was on the fundraiser committee. "Was" being the keyword there, but oh well. I wasn't needed in the ballroom. The Red Bulls' first--and probably last--home playoff game of 2007 will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, Oct. 27. Yes, the RB has qualified for the playoffs, though by no feat of their own (see related post on the matter). The other option was for the game to be held on a Thursday night, which would have made it difficult for me to attend due to commitments at my real job, so I'm pleased.Tickets for the game on sale now and can be purchased on the Red Bulls' Web site. I should note that I will be giving away four of them (along with other RB gear) through this blog, as part of a contest to be determined. I'll have more on that later this weekend.Hopefully the weather will hold and a good crowd will show up. this past weekend was the birthday of one of the gimhae ex-pats - kerry. she'll be going home to the UK at the end of february and so wanted to go out in busan to her favourite bar - the fuzzy navel. i wasn't sure if i was going or not since i'm on my way to seoul this coming weekend, and a night out in busan can get expensive... i also didn't want to destroy my sunday by having to recuperate from saturday... we usually get back to gimhae somewhere around 5 am when we go...but after being persuaded with tales of "a light night out" and "not coming back late" i headed in around 7pm with a bunch of friends from gimhae... we headed to the seomyeon area (of nye dinner fame) to have dinner. we ended up at one of the most kitsch (sp?) (ie. cheesy) restaurants i have ever been to in my life! it was called 'gorilla':that's one of the waiters... the food was pretty good. kim and i shared a plate of fried rice with cheese and a big chicken salad with kiwi (!) dressing. the boys had differ
