Carbon Dioxide Capture and Injection outside Weyburn and Estevan Saskatchewan
I took a day off work, and went on a trip to Estevan that the UofR put on, so I saw the SaskPower Boundary Dam coal fired electricity plant from the outside, and the inside of a test CO(2) capture facility. Unfortunately it’s just a test, and only separates out 4 tons a day, when we [...]

      Saskatchewan Marathon
This was supposed to be me. Due to ongoing lower back problems I decided that it would be a bad plan to push my luck. I did not think that my boss would appreciate it if I had to miss work. I can just imagine how that phone call would have gone: "I am so sorry, I won't be in to work for a few days, I seemed to have aggravated my bad back due to the fact that I participated in a marathon on Sunday.

      Greywater Innovation in Saskatchewan
There was a press conference today at The Terrace on the UofR campus, announcing a “greywater” project that is getting underway. The new Lab Building Addition (LBA) has had dual pipes installed, to provide greywater to toilets and other systems that don’t require drinking-quality water. This has a twofold effect, in that it reduces sewage [...]

A Good Weekend to be a Saskatchewan Liberal
Between the over 100 people who came out to the In The Red event on Friday night (and an outstanding performance by Doll Talk and Ransom) and the three dozen or so folks who invested a beautiful Saturday to start talking about where we have been, where we are, and where we should go as a Saskatchewan Liberal Party, I am feeling for the first time in months like there is some real momentum again. To spark some conversation, here is the front-page story in today's StarPhoenix about the renewal workshop. I will note however that though it gives a bit of the flavour of the weekend, I do think that the characterization of "Liberals may try leaning to right" (as the headline read in the Regina LeaderPost) is a gross over-simplification of the discussions that are taking place right now.----------

      Saskatchewan Gets A New City
In Saskatchewan, a city is essentially a town with more than 5000 people. Well Census Canada gave us a new one out of thin air, because they forgot to include an estimate adjustment previously. Why We Don’t Think of Pollution as Much In Saskatchewan
Westerners, as a whole, have a harder time understanding the impact pollution has on our environment. Turning the Page - Saskatchewan Election 2007
"There is a tide in the affairs of men"- from Shakespeare's Julius CaesarIt has been almost two weeks since election night in Saskatchewan. For those who have worked on campaigns before you know just how taxing they can be. The late nights and early mornings. The emotional highs and lows. The bonds you build with your comrades in arms as you work together in a pressure cooker, and the long goodbyes as the team goes their separate ways in the days that follow. For those who have been candidates before, you know (as I have just discovered) it amplifies all of these feeling by a factor of 10. It is an incredible experience to be able to talk with thousands of your fellow citizens as they share their hopes for the future and participate in the democratic process. And it is a real honour to receive support in so many ways, both big and small, from people who believe in your ability to make a difference. I am immensely proud of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party's campaign and our campaign in

Setting up a Saskatchewan Business, part 1
PreparationBefore you get into any nitty gritty, the first step is to step back. Analyze your idea, yourself, and your market. Is this what you want to do? Will people pay you money to do it?Next up, who is your competition? Take your time, make lists, visit their places of business. Every bit of information you glean now will repay your time tenfold. If after surveying your market, you still think your business idea is sound, rejoice. Otherwise, spend some time tinkering with the plan. LegalitiesPerhaps the least fun but most necessary step in starting your business is registering for all of the necessary permits. This list isn't exhaustive as many types of businesses have specific licence requirements (visit BizPal, an online service to help you find out what kinds of licenses you may need):Name RegistrationStart this early, because first you'll need to do a name search, and only if your requested name is not already used will you be able to purchase the business name. Quick.. it’s still Sunday in Saskatchewan
And heck if I didn’t get here just in time to find Sky Windows’ comment in Judy’s birthday thread to let us know that not only was it Judy’s day today, but Brahnamin’s too! Gak. That will teach me to let any of the fraccy children have any computer time anymore. If I’d been back on here earlier, I’d have seen her message and been able to wish him a Happy Birthday earlier! (Click the image and it will open up much larger.) But… in good ole Saskatchewan, it is still 11:22 pm, and that means it’s still his day so I’m going to wish him the best and hope he’s still awake to find it. I’ve run right out to the backyard, and rigged up something that looks like this…. (apologies for the photo quality… it is dark out at 11:22 pm in Saskatchewan you know.) No frilly cakes, no tweety birds (though since he does enjoy juggling cats, maybe tweety would think he’s a pwetty good guy), just a sincere wish (alon

Day six in Saskatchewan, day four in the stand!
Yesterday we were skunked 7 hours in the stand and not a bear to be seen. Thats Hunting!!! The weather was sunny and windy and the bears must of been napping for the afternoon. I tried my bear call for about 15 minutes as we knew Kelly was coming with the Rhino and I wanted to see if anything would come in but nothing did and we got picked up and headed back to the lodge for another wonderful meal by Bertha and home cooked Apple Pie ala mode.I now am starting to develop a Fat little belly! Today we are hoping for one last night in the stand where we see a bear with a Fat Little BELLY!!!! I have passed on about 10 plus bears that would of all been average and I have decided to GO BIG OR GO HOME empty handed! So I will continue to hold out for the big bruin that haunts my dreams...Huntinglife.com is a project I am taking on to create a resource to match outfitters and hunters together along with informative knowledge, hunting news, resources and great articles and pictures. Day Five in Saskatchewan and Day three in the Stand
Day three produced three bears into our stand and 2 of them were in and out all day! The young sow from the last couple of days and a nice fat rolly polly of a bear that might go 200 lbs. The good news about today is that Joe Rowe and Danny Griffin Both got bears that would go around 200 lbs each! I have a ton more to add to todays story and I have an hour and a half of footage on the camera! My close encounter came today at about 10 feet when the bear came to my stand and leaned up on the ladder and looked right at me.. I said "Go Away Little Bear!" and he sauntered off only to go back to the bait. The young sow chased him off in a hurry though and took over the bait! What a day! I could of taken any of the three bears we had in the stand but I am holding out for a bigger bear!Huntinglife.com is a project I am taking on to create a resource to match outfitters and hunters together along with informative knowledge, hunting news, resources and great articles and pictures. Day four in Saskatchewan and day two in the bear stand.
This morning I woke up and had a fantastic breakfast and then took a long nap before another wonderful lunch! Berta is one amazing cook up here at Horns Whitetail Adventures, you will not go home hungry!I got some practice in at the target and then it was off to the stands. We were all set up and ready by 3:15 in the stand and it was about 45 minutes before the first bear came in. He was a black with a bit of brown in his coat and a bit scraggly and rubbed about 175lbs or so. Then the little sow from yesterday came in and he chased her off the stand and then a third bear came into the stand and after he left a real nice bear came in.This bear was a shooter we estimate to be around 300lbs... He was really nervous and circled the bait for about 10 minutes before he came in. I had the arrow ready and when I knew that Max was on him with the camera I drew back. He was standing on the tree looking up at the beaver bait and I had the pin right on his vitals. As I touched off the rele

Story from the Travel Day and Pictures from Day One in Saskatchewan
Friday was close to a 24 hour day! Max and Stacy were detained in the Saskatoon Customs office while I was whisked through and Joe was held as well. I spent 3 plus hours in the airport waiting for them to be released from customs. With all of the camera equipment they brought they were forced to buy Temporary Resident Cards to be able to enter the country. Since they are not getting paid to film this hunt or any hunts they should not have been forced to have to purchase the temporary resident cards but in order to get out of customs they complied at a cost of over $700.00! I was beginning to think that they were going to be sent home and I would be stuck in Saskatoon for the night and have to figure out how to get to Sled Lake but finally they walked out and we got headed out on the road! Our first stop was Sports Warehouse were I bought a warmer shirt and I got to see the mount for Michelle Leqvie's Polar Bear! QUESTION # 433: SASKATCHEWAN VASECTOMIZER
Dear Useless Men,Okay, I get it. It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get back up. Hi, Windy here. Read your advice, loved it...I think Thanks! But here's the thing now, I met this guy named Georg, and he wants me to weather for him. Do you think I should? If yoo think it's okay, what about Saskatchewan in the spring? Thanks Windy City WomanDear Windy, I'd like to say it's great to hear from you again, but I think it may just blow through one ear and out the other, like the great Saskatchewan wind of the fall. I'd worry that my words would be insulting, but I'll take my chances.Firstly, never trust a person who doesn't include the silent "e" at the end of their name. If someone came up to me and told me his name was Georg, without the "e", I'd find him curious. Georg, Stev, or Jo, are nothing but trouble in my books. Granted, it's usually parents who name children. There is something to be said about a name. Take mine for example: Jody

Imagine a Beowulf cluster of raised fairness flags for Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan NDP government is running a new ad campaign to get the Harper Conservative New Government of Canada ™ to imagine what the province would be like if it were given the same money sharing deal as other provinces. In the Canadian Constitution, provinces are entitled to 100% of their resource revenue. Yet for some unexplained reason, Sask has that money count against it in transfer payments. The result is my province loses about $800 million. That’s a lot of fairness lost. Last year I wrote about the nonsense the SK NDP govt’ had going with the Raise a Flag for Fairness campaign before the federal NDP helped to trigger a federal election. The website was shown to be a bumbling fraud, which was stupid because it is dirt simple to make it either work properly, or be a simple information repository [no pun intended] with no Web 2.0 interactive features.
