The decorations in the photo of this San Juan home scream "holidays" - and their presence is strangely appropriate.

San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua offers up some pretty awesome, not overdone sunsets. The kind that make you stop for a few moments during your mad rush to do whatever and just look ... and let Mother Nature work her healing charms on your frazzled nerve endings.I have never seen the "green flash" sunsets that so many people talk about. I think if you have enough cocktails in the evenings, you could make the flash any colour you want it to be. But I understand this is a very real phenomena. The green flash, not the cocktails.San Juan del Sur has become a mecca for surfing over the last decade or so. Apparently the waves here are like no others in the world. I am finding that out about the whole of Nicaragua. There are places here that defy imagination. And are like no other places on ea
On December 16, 2007 Il Divo will be performing at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, as part of their massive world tour. Il Divo (Italian for “divine male performer”) is the international operatic pop vocal group created by pop guru Simon Cowell (the man behind American Idol and Pop Idol in the UK). The band was formed in 2004 and consists of Spanish opera and zarzuela baritone, Carlos Marín; two classically trained tenors, Swiss Urs Bühler and American David Miller; and a French pop singer, Sébastien Izambard.
There albums include ‘Il Divo’, Siempr and Ancora, which include the songs “Unbreak My Heart” (Regresa A Mí), “My Way” (A Mi Manera), “Isabel”, “I Believe In You (Je Crois En Toi)”, “You Raise Me Up” (Por Ti Seré), “All by Myself” amongst others. Il Divo also performed the official Fifa World Cup 2006 anthem with Toni Braxton.

The moment you step foot across the train tracks in San Juan Capistrano, you're transported back to another time. The entire area is filled with historic homes and businesses, and there are three original adobes that were housing for the workers who helped build the mission in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Oh, and don't miss the original iron jail cell that sits in the middle of town! The historic architecture in Los Rios makes for a great evening stroll, and there are lots of great restaurants and shops within a short walking distance. I just came back from a great weekend in La Union. I trooped to the San Juan Surf Resort with my brods and other surfer wannabes on Travel Factor's Surfvivor Surfing Tour. We left McDonald's El Pueblo at 12:30 a.m. on three vans loaded with surfing beginners. It was a coincidence that my China-ASEAN batchmate Carly and her friends were also going.I was so tired and sleepy, I slept all the way. The only thing I remember was the 4 a.m. breakfast stopover in Jollibee Urdaneta. We arrived in San Juan a little before 7 a.m. As soon as we got the keys to our room, we slept.Tikoy, the organizer, woke us up at about 9:30 a.m. to ask who wanted to join the first group. The may seem short, but the one hour lessons are exhausting. Some of us joined the first group while I took photos. I went for the second group later in the afternoon at 3 p.m.Training us was Luke Landrigan and his pool of locals who gave us one-on-one lessons. I was elated since I managed to stand up on the board this time aro

Most people when they arrive in San Juan will either head off on their own to see the various sights or arrange to see them with a tour guide. There is a third option which I stumbled upon the other day, and that is to see the sights with a National Park Ranger.
There are several tours available both in English and Spanish, unfortunately though, they are only available on certain days of the week. But, if you are here in San Juan on the days that the tours are offered, it might be worth checking them out.
Note: for most of these tours there is a maximum of 30 people.
The Fortification Walk:
This is the tour if you would like to learn more about how the fortifications helped protect the Spaniards for over 350 years. The ranger will take you on a 2-3 mile walk through Old San Juan and the tour lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours.
The English tour takes place on Saturdays at 10am from the main plaza of San Cristóbal.

If you are considering a Caribbean cruise, no doubt your first search for a cruise is from Miami; after all it is one of the cruise ship capitals of the world. But if you are planning a Caribbean cruise you should seriously consider Puerto Rico as your starting point; here are my top 5 reasons why:
1. San Juan, Puerto Rico is already located in the Caribbean. By starting your cruise here, you have already saved the two day trip to the Caribbean that cruises from Miami or any of the other Florida ports take.

We stopped off for a couple of days in San Juan, just two and a half hours from Mendoza by bus. It’s one of Argentina’s quietest regional capitals and it grew on me. It reminded me of La Plata, more of a large town than a city, quiet and peaceful. We spent our time walking around the streets and going to museums. I still can’t get used to the Argentine custom of closing shops down between 12noon and 5pm (outside of Buenos Aires) and reopening for the evening, in San Juan it seemed they take an extra hour off and it didn’t start to open up until 6pm. Also some of the museums we wanted to see were closed and I began to think of it as the Ciudad Cerrada (closed city).I first came to Argentina in July 2002, shortly after the economic crisis and the devaluation of the peso. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was surprised that there were few obvious outward signs of the crisis, that is people were still going to work, the subway was packed, rush hour traffic was horrendous and ev

For those of you who are not familiar with Erasure, they hit the UK pop scene back in 1985 with “Who Needs Love (Like That)”. They followed this with further hits through the 80’s and 90’s with: “Sometimes”, “Victim of Love”, “The Circus”, “Ship of Fools”, “A Little Respect”, “Stop!” and “Take a Chance On Me” to name just a few. Erasure were one of the biggest groups in the UK in the 80’s and 90’s.

If you have driven around San Juan and the surrounding area, you can not have missed the amount of construction that is taking place. There are construction sites for hotels, office buildings, as well as, residential complexes. As for the large residential projects that are currently underway or in the planning phase, the majority appear to be "high end' projects… In other words; lots of $$$ if you want to purchase an apartment in one of these projects.

Welcome back to the CheapoAir Spring Airline Travel Series!Yesterday we covered Spring Senior Travel. If you missed it, check it out. We discussed the top destination for seniors this spring, and on a budget! Today, we are discussing honeymooners and couples traveling to The Caribbean, Punta Cana or San Juan. Where should you go? How can you get the most for your money? Is there a preferred destination? Each of these three destinations is very special and soooo romantic! Amidst tropical beach settings, warm, velvet blue ocean waters and gentle breezes, you will find spas, resorts and beautiful al fresco dining and cocktail options. Traveling to the Caribbean, Punta Cana or San Juan during the spring is the off-season, which is always a perk. Why? Cheaper flights, hotels and car rentals. Plus, fewer tourists. Reservations at coveted restaurants are much easier to make and should you decide to go sightseeing, lines are much shorter. Isn't that fabulous! No matter which destination you c
