On the last day of our honeymoon, we had to eat breakfast (same buffet) at 5am in the morning because Princess Cruise Lines forced us to meet at 5:30am in the lobby, to have us arrive at the airport at 7am, for a flight that was at 11:55am. I am very sorry to say that Sammy left this world a week ago and went to explore the great afterlife. No one knew he had cancer, the family that had to give him up, his foster home (us), or his new family. We are still getting in the details of his passing, but he left this world last week in his sleep. We do know he had advanced lympho-sarcoma.
We are very sad, and have shed more than one tear. We love you Sammy, we miss you, and we are glad and enriched that you touched our lives.
Each dog that comes through our house takes a piece of our heart with them when they go. But somehow, we are richer for losing that piece of our heart. And we wouldn’t trade getting to know these wonderful dogs for a million dollars. The dogs are so much more valuable than any amount of money.
Run free, Sammy. We will always miss you.
A young fellow by the name of Sammy liked to hang out at Mom and Pop's Grocery Store. Pop didn't know what Sammy's problem was, but the other boys would tease him all the time, calling him Slow Sammy, and punching him on the shoulder as they passed. To mock him for being slow, they would offer him a dime and a nickel, telling him he could have just one. They said he always took the nickel because it was bigger. One day after Sammy took the nickel, Pop pulled him to one side and said, "Son, don't you know they're making fun of you? They think you don't know that the dime is worth more than the nickel. Are you really grabbing the nickel because it's bigger, or what?" "No," Sammy said, "but if I took the dime they'd quit doing it!"
It’s been awhile since I’ve been inspired to write about any crazy experiences while riding the Metro. I guess the word got out to most of the mentally insane and/or smelly people in the city that I tend make people famous when they mess with me. Apparently, one near-toothless passenger on the car I was on must have missed the memo.
For some reason, the train stopped for about five minutes in-between each station. While most of the passengers remained calm and seated, Snaggle Tooth Sammy decided to vent his frustrations with metro for the whole car to hear. He began wandering up and down the aisle, saying things like “They bombed the Pentagon. They need to bomb this motherf*cker right here! WHY ISN’T THE TRAIN MOVING!”

Well, it’s been a few weeks now since both Mac and Sammy have been in their new homes. We’ve only gotten good news so far! So it looks like it is really working out. We got these two boys within a few days of each other. They were both owner surrenders. They were both sable males. Though Mac was a smooth, and Sammy was a rough.
And they both went to homes within the same week.
It is quiet in our house now. Actually, we have a one week foster, Faith, a white pit bull who is a complete doll. So it’s not completely quiet here. But with only the four regular dogs it does seem quiet. And there’s not much poop top pick up as when we have six or seven dogs!

Last night I dreamed that we were playing Fetch with Sammy, our big foster collie we had, across a street! Ugh! We were only a little worried and we were watching him carefully. The new family said they did that and he was fine. Hrmph. I would not have wanted that in reality.
Anyway, I remember one throw where he went across the street to the neighbors lawn, got the toy, and laid down on the other side of the street already tired.
It’s funny, because he didn’t play fetch at all. He’s not a big toy dog. But, he’s in a great home now so that’s wonderful!
Well.. I got an email from Sammy’s new home. Wow, they are really putting in a lot of work to help their dog adjust to him. They got baby gates and have separated their house so they can be together but not quite be together. I am impressed.
They said he seemed sad the first couple of days, but is now adjusting. So hopefully it will work out and he’s in his new home. I never count on things for sure until like at least a month has gone by. But maybe I should take his ad off petfinder…

Well, the family interested in Sammy has him tonight. Stressed me out. Placing dogs is the hardest part of rescue. Very nice family, I just hope that their other dog will accept Sammy. They seem like they are willing to work with them.
Sammy is a good boy and gets along with other dogs. I screwed up and introduced them too fast. Entirely my fault. My brain is still mush from the trial. I guess we all make mistakes. Though I do think dogs can get around that with time and work.
So now I’m stressed and have to go utilize Luna Tail, my anxiety blog, to work out my emotions about it all. :p

Sammy is a rough sable collie boy up for adoption. He is such a sweetie. He’ll talk to you, but he’ll be quiet if you insist. He loves to go for walks. He’s very mellow. He can easily sleep all day if you are at work, and he would also love to go for a daily walk. He is fully house trained.
He’s great with kids. He’s not too good with cats so needs to go to a non-cat home. He is a big boy and weighed in at 99 at the vet when we took him in for a microchip. And he’s not fat, he’s just big! But don’t let his size deter you. He’s every bit as loving as any other sized collie, small or big!

Our eyes are intently focusing all on Barry Bonds’ games and anticipating his momentous milestone of breaking the most sacred record in sports history but in doing so we are overlooking the homeruns of Sammy Sosa.The greatness of Sosa was noticed when he was racing Mark Mcgwire in the famous year breaking single season homerun. Two years after that, Sosa had just disappeared in the hearts of baseball lovers.
His declined level of performance and his infamous and embarassing corked bat incident were just few reasons that those memories of his excellence are now forgotten.
Tuesday afternoon, Sosa hit a 3-2 fastball from left hander and two time Cy Young Johan Santana. The ball traveled 414 feet and landed in the right-center field in the bleachers.
Sosa just needs two more homeruns to become the fifth player in the Major League history to reach 600.
Yup, I just love Sam. He is a big goofy collie boy, typical. He wants to chase the cats, but they are in their safe room. Though Phoebe isn’t too crazy about not being able to go out when she wants to.
Sammy is almost too big to fit through our dog door. But he manages. Now to teach him how on his own. He is a bit pushy, but really not any more than Lucy or Levi. Or even Chase. He doesn’t care that Levi growls at him, guarding things, Sam just ignores Levi.
I’m going to give him a good brushing out… when I feel better. Woke up with some sort of stomach flu this morning. Gah. I hate this kind of sick.
And I think we might be getting Mac, too. He’s being returned. His old foster Mom and I both think he is a great boy, and the situation was just not condusive to another dog. That’s okay, we’ll find him a great home, still.
Let me just go on record right now and say that I’ve always believed that any girl who goes by the name “Sammy” has to be as cute as a button and as you can see in these shots my theory has thus far held true. Now that I’ve openly admitted this I’m sure I’ll get an email or two containing pictures of some hefty she-slob named Sammy eating a triple-cheese pizza or something equally healthy, but until then I’m going to stand pat. At any rate this girl is simply easy on the eyes and one more reason to think soccer balls are good for something other than dog toys. Enjoy.
