Last year, 4 RP schools made it in the global rankings of the Top 500 universities. This year, the 4 RP schools received very low rankings that two of them missed the Top 500. Only UP and Ateneo made it to the prestigious list this year.

One of the early big meets of the season is this coming Saturday, the DLS/Carondelet Nike Invitational. It will be covered by Flotrack.com, a website that has really taken off this summer. For further information on the meet, check out the link below which includes course maps for the 2 mile and 3 mile courses as well as all the participating teams.Many of the top teams in Northern California will be competing including the top ranked boys and girls' teams up north, Petaluma (boys) and Carondelet (girls). I didn’t just make it up! What I talked about here really happened! This picture was taken after three fun-filled rounds at the De Lasalle University. It’s hard to think of a better way to spend one’s weekend. I debated for two rounds and adjudicated for the middle round. Since this comeback of sorts, I’ve been recording my speeches to review and rethink future strategies. I record them not to brandish them around as great performances (I know they’re not quite at the level that I would want them to be), but mainly to 1) zero in regarding points for improvement and 2) hopefully encourage other people to develop their ability in public speaking.

Since I started talking about university chapels, here is another one. I was quite excited when I received an invitation from DLSU Liga Historia to speak about heritage at De La Salle's alternative class day called LEAP (Lasallian Enrichment Alternative Program) since I had been wanting to check out the De La Salle University campus for the longest time. I had heard so many good things about its pre-war university chapel from a lot of friends. So as soon as the talk ended, I went straight to the Chapel of The Most Blessed Sacrament on the second floor of its neoclassical main building, St. La Salle Hall.It was in November 19, 1939 that the chapel was completed and dedicated to St. Joseph. The chapel figured prominently during the Second World War having served as a refuge for brothers, priests and families. On February 12, 1945, drunken Japanese troops massacred 16 brothers and 25 civilians in the chapel. In 1947, the chapel was rededicated to the Blessed Sacrament with a ceremony of
