Last night, NHK reported that Sakura (cherry-blossom) flowers will bloom earlier as forecasted. It will be on Sunday, March 23, 2008, instead of March 27th, for the entire Tokyo area. This morning when I walked around the vicinity of Kunitachi. I saw the flower buds of Sakura trees almost visible in all branches already. Some trees on nearby street already bloomed. I think Kunitachi will be painted in color pink this Sunday. Most of my acquaintances in Tokyo said that Kunitachi is a very popular place for Hanami (花見) or Sakura viewing. The famous streets can be found along the Hitotsubashi Daigaku (一橋大学)　and the Fujimidai （富士見台） Avenues where Sakura trees are planted.

Japan is a tidy clean country with polite people, and that's most people know about it nowadays, especially westerners who always compare Japanese with Chinese. Thinking about the good things, for some time I was excited about the brand new life there, and yet thinking twice, I was worried as well--I have to learned another language and I have to understand another culture. Our playtest room was packed all weekend, as people kicked back with everything from Bejeweled 2 to Gears of War. The Dance Dance Revolution pad took a serious beating, our Guitar Hero 2 controllers never had a chance to cool down, and the instant any player abandoned a chair, another player was hopping into the hotseat. It was a blast. Better still was the Dead or Alive 4 showdown on Saturday afternoon. The action was fierce, and the tournament was positively dominated by Jo Jo Holman, who played Ayane throughout. This DOA diva took out last year's champion in the second round, and went on to claim total victory.
