I got this earlier this week. As a devoted Bulldog Fan, I hated to even post this, but I must confess, it’s too clever not to.
I’m still crushed from last week’s agonizing defeat. Good things our Dawgs are off this weekend to lick their wounds.

The newest issue of Forbes Magazine to hit newsstands tomorrow will feature Nick Saban, head coach of the University of Alabama football team, on the cover with the title "Most Powerful Coach In Sports." I have already admitted that I am an Auburn fan, so let there be no mistake as to where my bias lies, but do you need a bias to see that there may be some problems with this wonderful, FREE public
Anyone else intrigued by the ongoing Jason Taylor saga? If you haven't been paying attention to the Miami Dolphins' offseason, you probably aren't aware that the former Defensive Player of the Year (and Pittsburgher) is rather focused on his dancing/post-football career these days. The blog Sean's Ramblings noted that on the recent season finale of Dancing With the Stars, JT remarked that dancing p
Alabama coach Nick Saban compared his team's loss to Louisiana Monroe Saturday to Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers attack. Crimson Tide fans are mortified. They don't feel that anyone should minimize a catastrophe like the loss of a football game.
Rather than write what I want to say, I'll let the video speak for itself. Sorry, when anyone uses a tragic incident, war, or strife going on society to make a parable or corollary with sports, it's completely off base.Saban was just out of line on this issue, and he should apologize. If he can pontificate and run his mouth, he should be able to take the heat. It's too bad that fans who root for the Crimson Tide will find some way to excuse this. I hope someone in the University of Alabama hierarchy calls him out and tells him the way things should be, but I am not counting on it.Here another, very well written perspective on this incident: http://www.sectalkonline.com/saban-compares-loss-to-911/Your Ad Here
No, not because he took the Miami job, though that was technically moronic. Nick Saban is a moron on the level that not many reach. He resides on a plateau of ignorance usually reserved for the likes of lawyers, congressman and Boston fans. Slightly above the Three Stooges and below your crazy uncle, Saban simply lacks the judgement that most of us have. Don't believe me? Then check out this
By Ed Bagley Nick Saban recently became the University of Alabama football coach by signing the richest contract ever awarded to a college football coach. His 8-year, $32 million deal with the Crimson Tide has a base salary of $225,000 that will be supplemented by a personal services fee of $3.275 to $3.975 million per year. College football supporters are awash with money for winners who they believe can put their team on top.Saban's deal does not include a buyout clause if he leaves, but it does cap public appearances at 15 per year (for alumni and booster clubs) that are unrelated to endorsements. The contract also has incentives that could generate another $650,000 for on-field and academic success with his players. One biggie is $200,000 if he reaches the BCS championship game and escalates to $400,000 if Alabama wins.Saban also gets a country club membership, two cars, a luxury box at Bryant-Denny Stadium and up to 25 hours of yearly flight time for personal travel in a non-commer
I know, having a picture of Nick Saban on VolNation is almost sacrilegious. However, I found this story too good to pass up.
I heard this on a local radio show from Friday:
When Nick Saban first came to Alabama, he saw a bunch of guys walking around campus with their pants low showing their underwear - as is the style these days.
One of the first meetings he had in the spring, Coach Saban stood in front of his team and dropped his pants, turned around and did a 360 and then pulled them up. He then walks to the other side of the room, where everybody could see him really well, and pulls down his pants and does the same thing again.
You can imagine the looks on the players faces.
He then walks back to the front of the room and says (paraphrased to the best of my memory), “Alright guys, you’ve seen my rear end. If i see your underwear anymore you are really going to see my rear end and you are not going to like it the next time.”
It’s almost like he took a pl
Nick Saban, not having coached a single game as the Alabama Head Coach is already picking up where his predecessors (not including Mike Shula, who actually was a pretty upstanding citizen) left off by violating NCAA rules.
According to reports, Saban contacted recruits and violated NCAA rules by exceeding “exchange of greetings” with said recruits by apparently talking about more than well, his name and the name of the recruit.
Now, I’m not usually one to stick up for Bama, let alone a Nick-Saban led Bama, but the NCAA is absolutely losing their minds. I mean, I’m all for rules and everything, but it gets to the point where it seems that SOME concessions need to be made. If the NCAA bans something, schools will find ways around it. It’s always been like that, and I imagine it always will.
Restricting how many words a coach can say to a potential recruit is just crazy talk. But, coming from the organization that wouldn’t let people have fundra
Just months after saying he was committed to the Louisville Cardinals football program, ESPN is reporting that Head Coach Bobby Petrino is leaving to be the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. The deal is rumored to be for 5 years $24 million dollars. This comes on the heels of Petrino signing a 10 year $25 million dollar contract with the Louisville Cardinals.
This is what Petrino had to say back in August:
“I can’t tell you how happy I am with the commitment and the confidence that Tom Jurich has in me and the university has in me. I also wanted to make sure that everyone understood, I know I’ve said it, that this is where my family wants to be. This is where I want to be. I want everyone to really believe it.”
Now it is January 7th and he has pulled a Nick Saban. He lied to the media and his players and the University. If you’re gonna be in it for the long haul, that doesn’t mean you run to the NFL for more money or in the case of Nick Saban, run b
Thirteen days ago, Nick Saban announced there was no way that he was going to the University of Alabama to coach. Well today is January 3rd and Nick Saban is leaving the Miami Dolphins to coach said University of Alabama.
To me, he is yesterday’s Jimmy Johnson, who left the University of Miami in the middle of the night to go coach the Dallas Cowboys. Although to me if someone offered me $35 million dollars guaranteed, I’d probably go take the job too.
Saban had been a successful college coach before going to Miami. In Miami, he was unable to lead the team to the playoffs. This could be one of the many reasons why he departed Miami for the green Crimson of Alabama.

Nick Saban has decided to leave my Dolphins to coach the Alabama Crimson Tide. This comes just two weeks after he firmly denied the rumors that he was possibly headed to Alabama. It's funny how fast things change. Just 6 months ago, the Dolphins were a trendy Super Bowl pick. Nick Saban was going to lead the team to greatness, Daunte Culpepper would finally give the Dolphins the quarterback they've been wanting since Marino retired and things were looking peachy. But then things started to fall apart. First Ricky Williams gets suspended again. Manny Wright struggles with depression and leaves the team. Culpepper's recovery takes longer than expected and the offense goes absolutely nowhere. Chris Chambers forgets that he's supposed to be a # 1 receiver and offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey decides to call plays with his head stuck up his ass.All this leads to a pathetic 6-10 season and now Saban is gone. Even Jason Taylor has talked about a possible retirement. A part of me is sad b

After Dolphins' Owner Wayne Huizenga gave coach Nick Saban a deadline to decide whether or not he is going to coach the team next year, the truth is finally out. Saban will be coaching Alabama next season. Huizenga said he was informed of the decision in a meeting Wednesday at Saban's house, and the announcement came in a press conference that Saban didn't attend. It's not like the Dolphins are losing a great coach (in my opinion.) Though he was a hot-shot in college, he is only 15-17 with the Dolphins.According to the AP article, possible candidates to replace Saban include:Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron RiveraFormer Green Bay head coach Mike ShermanSan Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Cam CameronIndianapolis assistant Jim CaldwellTennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm ChowPittsburgh Steelers assistants Russ Grimm and Ken Whisenhut.Huizenga still hasn't ruled out the hiring of another college coach, but nothing is decided yet. A few weeks ago, I posted a comment about Rutgers coach Greg Schiano visiting the University of Miami after stating for weeks he had the job he wanted.
Luckily for the Scarlet Knights, with relation to the Miami job, Schiano spoke the truth and is returning as RU coach. But the fact that Schiano went to Miami to talk was disturbhing in itself. Why go at all?
My thoughts then also focused on the
