Gary Glitter Song In GCSE Music Syllabus Row.
England's largest exam board is to remove a Gary Glitter song from its GCSE music syllabus. The convicted paedophile's 1970s chart hit, I'm the Leader of the Gang, was listed as "related listening" in coursework for the AQA's music GCSE. The AQA exam board said that it regretted any offence caused and was recalling the paper. It hopes that Jonathon Kings, "Everyone's Gone to the Moon" will be

Carol Ann Duffy's "Education For Leisure" should have remained on the GCSE syllabus
The decision by the AQA exam board to remove Carol Ann Duffy's poem "Education For Leisure" from the GCSE syllabus was wrong. The idea that reading a poem can cause children to imitate the content is absurd, as if people run out of Othello looking for couples to break up, or go on killing sprees after finishing Brett Easton Ellis' American Psycho. Harry Potter put on A-Level syllabus
AQA, in it's wisdom, has decided to put the first of the seven Harry Potter books onto its English Language course. Now, don't get me wrong, the Harry Potter books are an enjoyable read and J K Rowling in a clever writer, but the inescapable fact is that the books aren't written well at all.It seems like a desperate attempt to revitalise interest in Literature by shamefully pandering to popularity at the expense of higher quality literature. Dickens and Shakespeare are fascinating and entralling - any good teacher would have their class spellbound (no pun intended) by such classics. However, with the professionals hands tied behind their backs and discipline in schools out of control, it would seem that AQA has not option but to clutch at straws.Read the full story HERE

      ITIL V3 Foundation Syllabus Change?
In a post ITIL Foundations Exam Go/No-Go from Oct. 27. 2008. I said something about the possible and needed changes in ITIL V3 Foundation syllabi. For now, nothing has been announced officialy. There is a new version of Interim ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate Syllabus, version 3.1 from 07. Feb. 2008.In change comments it says that the reason for new version is updating the Copyright Statement with Crown Copyright. But also, several points of the syllabus are in red bold print, and I haven't seen the explanation for that.Marked points are mostly from Service Strategy, and most people agree that it was over-emphasized in first V3 exams. ITIL Foundations exams in February indeed had fewer questions from Service Strategy then before. So, risking to be completely off-target here, I presume that som

Live by the syllabus, die by the… wait what?
The first few days of college, professors try and scare you into think that if you lose your syllabus, you are pretty much screwed. For the first month, it will be your life for that class. It explains everything… until… the class gets mixed up, professors get loaded up, people miss a lot of class, and suddenly, the book of life for that class starts to get changed. Classes start to fall behind on the syllabus or get ahead. Its just life. Don’t be fulled, yes you may spend a lot of your time living by a piece of paper, just don’t let it dictate your life. The syllabus can be changed, and will be changed through out the course. It is not the law of the class, its more like guidelines for the course, or wishful thinking for some professors. Sometimes professors will be so lost, students have to remind them of where the class is supposed to be. At this point, I have pretty much almost thrown out my English one for it is almost of no use to me. My math syllabus is
