I recently read The Church of 80% Sincerity by David Roche. I picked it up after reading a chapter in Anne Lamott’s book Plan B about Roche and how he had inspired her. His book was extremely interesting and touching as he walked through his life and reflected on how he’d come to create his [...]

Much has been said about the search for truth. When I speak of truth, I’m not necessarily referring to some profound truth like the meaning of life, or some controversial truth in relation to politics or world events, like the truth behind the ZTE scandal (which we still don’t know) or the truth of whether there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq or not (apparently there weren’t any). I’m talking about truth in general. Or as they used to say in the old tongue, veritas. Is it just me or are there more...hmm...wait. ”Liar” is such an ugly word...I’ve always disliked the word “liar”, and its connotation of malicious dishonesty and deceit. Let’s instead use the term “insincere people”. Going back, is it me or are there more “insincere people” today than there
Bengali beauty Kamalini Mukherjee says about her love for fish. She says that Bengalis are fond of fish and obviously she too has big inclination for that. She says that she has unique mindset that cannot be perturbed."I meditate whenever my feelings were hurt by anyone or any situation. Things go right then. I love sincerity and humor in men. I cannot digest hypocrisy. I like dignified ladies. My first love is my family. It's part of my soul. I read books relating to Tagore, Theresa and Abdul Kalam. I love purple color and jeans on my body", said Kamalini adding to her 'fishy' talk.Well Kamalini is now awaiting the release of her latest film 'Brahmanandam Drama Company'.Courtesy:greatandhra

I like to think that sincerity plays a significant part in my personality. I actually don’t like posting about it because in my opinion a part of being sincere and considerate is doing so without acknowledgment. In anycase I try to be sincere and also considerate to everyone I [...]

The mullah’s call to prayer broke Kabul’s eerie silence. It was my first morning in Afghanistan and I squinted to see the time on my watch, it was 4:30. My body shivered under the sleeping bag shrugging off March’s chill. Like most Kabul neighborhoods, the electricity was cut off during the night and the generator ran out of fuel. The innkeepers scurried in the morning darkness lighting a fire in the woodstove. I tried to return to sleep but the reality of being in Afghanistan for my 10-day vacation kept me awake. “What am I doing here?” I asked myself.
Terror. Tourism. The latter isn’t typically associated with Afghanistan but I chose to spend my vacation in Kabul with a human rights organization, walking the streets, meeting with people and seeing how the war-torn country is surviving. I never imagined I’d be eye-to-eye with the enemy having a civil conversation but on my first full day in Kabul, that’s exactly what happened.

James Russell Lowell (1819 – 91) U.S. poet, satirist, and diplomat
Jim Horn at Schools Matter had a post last week about Georgia's voucher situation that underscores the fears of many public school advocates with certain kinds of choice plans. He seems to think the rhetoric of choice in Georgia is little more than a lie.His own rhetoric is a bit slanted. He supports his case by reminding us of the old Georgia state flag, pre 2003, complete with stars and bars, in lieu of the current banner. He seems to toss Baptists into one pile and oozes some level of bigotry.But...that said, he underscores the hypocrisy on the other side of the argument and makes some points worth thinking about.~In a post titled...The Special Needs of Georgia's Voucher Advocates Horn points out:Among those children not to be left behind are individuals with special needs. Since NCLB became law, special needs kids have been forced to take tests that were not appropriate for them - that do not assess the learning that was supposed to accrue from their individual educational plans

When we talking about sincerity, most of the time is inside out. Meaning that we treat people with sincerity. Be sincere with other.
But then again, genuine sincerity and honesty can only be achieved through self sincerity and honesty.
I never cheated anybody in my live and don’t intend to start now, but I was far from being honest with myself.
Sacrifice in the shallow sense has a new name, that is insincerity and dishonesty toward oneself.
Being good and always bow to other is a mask in disguise, we always mistaken that for self sacrifice.
Wearing a mask in front of other is not limited to manipulating or deceiving others, it could in fact be deceiving myself and the damage by self deceiving isn’t any less than trying to play mind games with others.
“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one's real and one's declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish squirting ink.”
George Orwell (1903 – 50) British novelist, critic, and political commentator
I admit it. I did not know much about Christopher Hitchens. I had seen a number of references to him on atheist blogs, but they usually lament his confrontational style. I just shrugged and never really thought about him again. I wish I had, because PZ Meyers of Pharyngula recently posted a couple of YouTube videos where Hitchens unabashedly shared his thoughts on Falwell. The first clip is what he said on CNN regarding Falwell's legacy:I applaud Hitchens for being honest. I certainly agree with him that we should not revere evil men just because they've died. Does their mere death suddenly make their terrible acts in life worthwhile? I say nay.The better clip is when Faux News invited Hitchens to defend his statement on Hannity and Colmes:This clip actually made me burst out laughing. It's nice to see someone refusing to take the usual Faux News bullshit. I love how Hitchens runs roughshod over Hannity's (or Colmes'? I don't know. I don't watch that worthless networ

Am I missing something here, or maybe reading too much into the motives of these people? This is a press release, not a news article, that I've run across on the web. It claims, on the one hand, that author Howard Bronson is upset that recent events have caused two of his books to suddenly spike in sales, but, on the other hand, it reads like nothing more than the typical publishing industry press release trying to move a few thousand books on the market. It's been an odd year for author Howard Bronson. Sales of two books he wrote over a decade ago have suddenly gone through the roof but not for the reasons he would prefer. It began as the tainted pet food story grew which sparked the jump in his book Dog Gone - Coping With The Loss of A Pet (Bestsell). At first, Bronson noted a small increase of just a few hundred copies but in the last few weeks, the increase has been in the thousands. "...Then came yet another senseless tragedy: the brutal killing of thirty students in Virginia

Sincerity (Week 7 of 12)
Sincerity. Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly. During week 2 I covered Silence. During that week I concentrated on avoiding gossip and only speaking of things that were useful to myself or others. Sincerity takes on a bit of a different twist.
There were some people in my life that I looked down upon. I focused on the negative aspect of their character and let those factors define who they were. There really isn’t anything innocent or just about the way I was approaching these situations. I figured that I just had to “put up” with them and that was enough. Just being fake, forcing a conversation, all for the sake of someone else.
There were a couple of specific people that I had judged. (No names). one was s

Learn to call on Allah,
In the dark,
While riding on a bus,
Or sitting in a park.
Learn to do it when
Alone in a room,
Or staying up late,
Staring at the moon.
And if someone boasts about
What he did for Allah,
And asks you to tell him
What you did for Allah,
Just say, "Why should I tell you"
If I did it for Allah?"
