(photo cred) Hands down, one of the better singer songwriters in recent years is Steve Earle. Not only has Earle done loads of great albums through the years, but has also worked with and is respected by some of the best musicians of all time. And I am really impressed with his brand new album, Washington Square Serenade as well, which focuses in on his new place of residence, New York City. Steve not only does a song with his wife Alison Moorer on the album, but does an excellent cover of the Tom Waits tune, “Way Down In The Hole.” While Earle may have been at his absolute best on albums like Transcendental Blues from 2000, and sorta lost me with the overly political stuff from his last record, The Revolution Starts Now, this is a great album that all fans of his music should consider picking up.
