Thanks to James Baker of Oriole Magic for the note - tip of the cap..With the new season approaching, there is finally a little bit of good news for Oriole fans.Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun reported that the Stadium Authority voted to replace the antiquated scoreboard in center field.Under the agreement, ANC Sports Enterprises and Mitsubishi have guaranteed that the new display will be in place by March 17, two weeks before Opening Day.The video display was the largest part of a $9 million project agreed to by the stadium authority and the Orioles last month. A revamped audio system and a high-definition video control room are the other major parts."We're pleased to offer fans a video experience that will be unsurpassed by any other ballpark in America," authority chairman Frederick W. This week, a few incidents have happened such as Leo Mazzone getting canned and Terry Crowley being re-hired as the hitting coach; however, there's some good news for fans.Yes, the old-out-of-date and ancient scoreboard on Eutaw Street is now being replaced.According to the Baltimore Sun's report by Childs Walker:The Orioles and the Maryland Stadium Authority have reached a tentative agreement to avoid arbitration and spend $9 million to replace the video display and audio systems at Camden Yards.Under the agreement, which won't become official unless the Board of Public Works approves it Wednesday, the stadium authority would contribute $3.75 million to pay for an expanded, high-definition screen and scoreboard.
